    I've had several mentors over the years and learned a large amount of valuable lessons from each and every one of them. From not making certain business decisions to fostering certain partnerships, a mentor can help guide you through your entrepreneurial journey.

    This is, quite frankly, one of the most validating videos I could have stumbled across at this moment. I am approaching six months with a company I fully intend to retire from someday. I have identified a colleague who has nearly 30 years with the company and on a specialist team I aspire to.
    Today I emailed her to let her know I admire her contributions to the department and invited her to lunch to discuss her experience within the company. My intention, of course, being to formally request a mentorship as I navigate my career opportunities.
    She accepted within an hour.

      Just reach out to someone you can trust and of moral character. Family, friend even the guy off the street. Even your insurance can pay to find you the right fit mentor for you. It's about what you want and go for it. You'll find someone just gotta find that right vibe and gotta share what you want out of a mentor. I've been a mentor over 25yrs to many ppl and I work as a mentor for children and adults with some disabilities but not all.

    Hi Steve and how are you doing? You are one of my favorite people because you are genuine, and your personality is contagious. I loved the Steve Harvey Show back in the day with Cedric, Regina, Lovita and the others. Now you are killing me with the Family Feud. I would love to be in it one day and I know that I will be over the moon. Anyway, the purpose of my note. as I was browsing asking to google how to find a free mentor for my son and I happened to land upon your video. My question is, since you know of a gazillion of famous people is there a way you can connect my son so that his true passion can turn into a dream. He graduated from college, and he went to communication school and also had his radio show, blog and podcast but all of those was to no avail because most of the time it's whom you know. Even though he had a podcast and all of those great efforts he put into those he would not be able to reach an audience. If you can give him a little help, then as a mother I would certainly appreciate it because I can't wait for him to go to his own place. In advance, I truly appreciate your help. As you probably already know having the voice of someone famous to back up someone's idea can work wonders. Again,

    Never had a mentor. I grew up in a place that wasn't very condusive to say that you needed one. But everyone would say it was important. I grew up in a strange part of southern WV. A place where if you cant do it yourself it was considered a weakness. I sought out many to be a mentor to me in carpentry, metal work, construction, self-defense, or just what it ment to be a man. My stepfather covered some of those like what it took to be a man. To use compassion until there is no other option than use of force to compel compliance and only then in a defense of others or myself. He was a military man and taught me carpentry and general things about being a man. As well as what hard work and actually SURVIVING ment. But metal work, self-defense and construction just came through making mistakes until i got it right. I make custom furniture and consult on various government projects now. Gained a liking to philosophy now it seems. Im your mid 30s you dont feel old and you dont feel young. Your not old enough to be wise but not lacking so much as to be called green. Its a strange time and I have been searching for a mentor but my grandfather has outdated ideals and dad is gone. Mom has come as close as any to being a philisophical mentor as she has a masters in it. I still am working on seeing how many fallacies i catch myself making on a daily basis. My record in one day is 12. 😆 Im just lucky to have any family left at all. I love them all so dearly. I broke my neck when i was 16 and have been through more before and after 16 for 3 lifetimes. But I do not speak ill of my experiences. For they have made a good and honest man. I just hope i can continue to learn. Until these old eyes, ears, and feeling in my hands give out. I'll be at a desk or outside seeing what new things the world has to offer. Make sure to grow old but never grow up my friends. As a very steel mill worker told me on the Appalachain Trail. Crazy old man was on a thru hike like me. Him southbound and me north. Looked to be 70 something and could mess me up. 😆

    I hope you are all fulfilled! I'm looking for information about how the Church could and should prepare young men to make/maintain adult life relationships and marry (if they want to marry). There are so many boys without fathers in one way or another, and they seem to be fed to the world like disposable heroes. And it appears our culture can have men around, but these important issues are being neglected even with them present in communities.
    30 years ago I was a born-again Christian young man with no relationship mentoring. I didn't ask questions, and I guess my parents assumed I had it figured out, but I did not. And no one was around to ask in person because I was off in a fresh military career, many miles away. All of my work people were not living for God, and just winging life as well. I was in church and Bible groups but their focus was never relationship focused. I got married too soon/too carelessly and it crashed, and I got burned badly. I picked a woman poorly and it was an unnecessary disaster. It was all preventable, yet there were no precautions being taught to me as an active man in the Church. I felt like I was sucker-punched.
    Now, as a father of two relatively young sons I am searching how to teach them to seek and receive mentorship, and I want to know how to pass guidance to other young men as well. There is not a lot of focused Christian material on this, and I don't find a lot of discussion or discipleship help on it whatsoever. Yet, our "churched" marriages are falling apart as much, or more, as the world's lost folks. Why is this so difficult to teach and help young churched believers with? Where are the focused Christian efforts at raising and guiding good young men and women to date/marry wisely? It sure seems like this is a super-weak link in the Church. What do you think? Is it?
    It seems like organizational suicide to raise believers with little to no relationship guidance from a very early age and expect them to make a good Bride to Christ, doesn't it? They are the future of the Church. They should be better prepared, else they are very likely to crash/burn their families and run from God in the process. I've seen this happen to many friends.
    If you know of any good teaching portions please share with me.
    LORD, please send me to the existing guidance and experts if I'm overlooking them.
    Thank you!

    if permissive to comment we must clearly understand that mentoring begins with "relationship" ! you can't mentor anyone without establishing an relationship, not merely for what the person has but something that you admire about them that draws your interest which causes a pursuit not material temporal things but relationship...

    • @rza139
      @rza139 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great comment! Very true. A lot of people want take, take, take rather than first giving and building a connection. Then maybe a later time receive advice or what not.

    • @kennethwilliams4101
      @kennethwilliams4101 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for responding....! And I whole heartily agree with your comment.. Besides mentoring temporal ...! And mentoring begins with admiring something within the person of interest which creates a "pursuit" which means to go after them. For example, Bill Gates is one of several richest men in America and there are alot of people who desire his financial status but they will never attain his financial status because of laziness.. ! No interest to pursue him

    • @rza139
      @rza139 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kenneth Williams I have been trying to find a mentor the past year. I has been pretty difficult. Am I just not looking in the right places? I read that a mentor ultimately finds you and not the other way around. The closest I got to finding a mentor is a marketing professor who has helped me with great advice and guidance. He is however, a teacher and owns his own marketing business on the side; extremely busy.

    • @kennethwilliams4101
      @kennethwilliams4101 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes...! It usually happens that way, mentors usually choose you but sometimes it doesn't happen that way... again it begins with something you admire about the mentor and it stirs within you a passion to pursue them... almost like a man pursuing the interest of a woman but the heart is pursuing the nature of the relationship which is the mentor ok

    Have only ever had a single mentor in my life and that was at a younger age. My peers always saw me as a leader, but my professors/teachers/coaches always saw me as a threat to their own authority. In a generation that is essentially loitered with the politics of a hippie boomers, having a propensity for leadership has been far more of a curse than a gift.
    I guess it's just a result of that weaker generation. Their parents would have never used their age/credibility against a child, but these hippies are still children after 40 or 50 years. I'd lie if I didn't say I had grown a bit bitter over time because of it. I've been in classes where the public opinion by a vote sided with me over a professor (the professor chose to put it down to a vote) and all I received was a bad grade for being disrespectful in a class meant for debate or extra points taken off the next quiz.
    I fear my generation will be no better at their age. We do not make our own decisions, autonomy has become a rarity, and most are too embarrassed or too proud to admit they have lost it.
    Regardless of how random or out of place my statements may seem in this video I felt as if they needed to be said.
