Aditha II (942 CE - 971 CE), also known as Aditha Karikalan a Chola prince who lived in the 10th century in India. He was born in Tirukoilur and was the eldest son of Parantaka Chola II. He was the elder brother of Rajaraja Chola I and Kundavai. He was called as Virapandiyan Thalai Konda Koparakesari Varman Karikalan

You have explained well...good. As a person who had the opportunity to live in Tanjavur for some years , I would like to say that there were discussions among friends...(1960s) about this mystery. They support Pandiya conspiracy theory...Near Trichy there is a dam called Kallanai..Grand Anaicut..it is still in good condition. There you can see karikalan statue..was it built as Prince or king of chola saamrajya is another question under debate.
Sir, that statue is not this Adithya Karikalan, that statue is more than 2000 years ago. The name is just 'Karikala Cholan'. That dam is world famous for very old existing dam.
