I've learned a lot in the last few years switching from web developer to full-time homesteader. One skill I haven't learned that would be SOOO valuable on our farm is welding. That is such a beautiful thing you are building there and looks as strong as a bull. I guess that's an "arc" welding machine? It's electric, not gas? Anyway, good luck with all the buildings you want to build. Sounds nice.
Thanks for watching and commenting! My stepfather has a stick welder and I bought a MIG welder many years ago. They are electric and both run on 220v. Welding is a great skill to have to be able to build or repair and there is lots of that on the farm. My stepfather has been welding for 70+ years and I have lots to learn that's for sure!
My stepfather has been walking for almost 70 years and I'm not sure he has ever worn gloves. Not that that is a good thing but that's who he is. We both have gloves and I try and wear mine any time I weld although I just got some gear after starting this project.
Yes I thought I would have been completed by now but we have been delayed "due to the current situation". It is snowy and cold and I want to paint it so that it doesn't rust before pulling it around with my quad. I am hoping to complete that soon as I wait for more materials to arrive for the tub and gates. Also thinking about putting a battery powered hydraulic lift on it as well. Thanks for watching and I hope you stay tuned to the channel!
@@LivingtheNorthernLife that's awesome it will be nice to see when you get it finished. Everything takes time I understand. I hope to build one kinda similar to yours.
@@flyinryan1986 I'm planning on putting a cut sheet together for this at some point if you're interested. I can't wait to get this thing going! SUPER excited! :)
Hey Sergey, These are the axles but sometimes they go on fo an even better sale: www.princessauto.com/en/1250-lb-high-speed-trailer-stub-axle/product/PA0002080000 Thanks Andrew
Which 2” joint in the video took a whole rod? The metal is also 3/16” thick. He’s been welding for almost 70 years. I trust his welds more than mine that’s for sure 😊
lighter is better but it pulls very nice with my Honda Rancher 420 IRS. It doesn't cause the suspension to sink, it's very easy to move around byt hand. The tongue weigh's almost nothing. I love it. 1"x1" for the uprights with that heavy gauge tub probably would have been good enough.
Dang that is one serious trailer. I'm big time envious. Looking great from the videos I've watched so far. Can't wait to see the rest now.
Thanks Curt!
Hope you enjoyed the series.
Episode 9 has all the dimension if you are interested.

I can't believe you can weld that without gloves. You're a far better man.

Nice looking trailer like to see it in action

Guys, you should be wearing gloves. Nice work
I try to get my stepfather to wear them but after almost 70 years of welding he's not going to change his ways :(
Where did you got axles ?

Need more commentary, listening to bacon frying for 15min is a little boring. Appreciate all you do !
It may be a bit heavy for atv?
