They both really hurt Makki too deep. Meiko is the core devil I really don't like her she's way too close with them without boundaries. That's the saying says never allow third party into a relationship/marriage if you want a successful and healthy relationship/marriage.

His actions to appease his father were never going to make things better. Eiji lost his greatest love. Makki lost his greatest love. As Senhoo, staying true to who he was, he found another love. Honesty to yourself is everything.
So much in this series. I’m glad I watched as some reviewers said it was messed up. Messed up in the sense that there plan was silly, but a reality for some same sex couples. I was frustrated with the girl (Mieko) as she didn’t know when to step back. But I could also see she was desperate for a sense of belonging, although I think she would have preferred it with Makio. Eiji loved him Makio but wasn’t strong enough to fight for his love and she provided him with the perfect escape. I would have loved to see Eiji verbalise his true feelings but him crying said ‘more than words’.
“more than words” literally…you can just imagine reading between the lines…their expressions…how many scenarios have run through their heads imagining what if they met (and they did)… the pain they have to carry now that they’re all taking responsibility for their own different lives…the hurt Eiji must’ve felt when it all came flooding back…the bittersweet moments they can only look back on…the yukata…the sting I felt when Makki said in the parking lot that they looked like a real married couple now and that it seemed “right”… I love that there was so much unspoken but there was so much we could feel. The consequences of things that happened one after the other, the sacrifices…I’m just glad the kid is being taken care of and Makki found someone who holds him dear. P.s. I hate that the dad’s fear for Eiji got them here. He meant well but, things just became unfortunate.
This can easily be a second season. Look at that wonderful surfing BL movie that had its part two. I think the writers really did an amazing job with the details. Notice, there is no mention of Eiji ever reconciling with his father. He wouldn't even talk to him when they came to visit the baby. Yes - he apologized but, the Dad still played a part in ruining three lives. The love is still there. The fact that he met the child and mentioned seeing them again - they can possibly move forward. And, with Anato - he is willing to accept the relationship as is - with Makki still keeping a bit of protection and distance (he doesn't want to get hurt again). I can accept this as is but, wouldn't mind seeing another season.
There is such deep pain in this story. Very well written and portrayed. But knowing it could be real life circumstances, i will share my opinions: Eiji’s father really is a loser. How dare he ruin his sons life with the excuse of his past gay friends circumstances. Then, it was about lineage. He just loved himself more than his son, period. Eiji was a weak man, despite supposedly living a somewhat free life. He also chose to try to please his family instead of choosing happiness for himself. He did not live a true happy life, I’m certain. Makki had the best outcome, I think. Takagi just held on the best she could, with guilt. It’s better than being alone, she probably thought. Asato was a blessing in Makki’s life. He valued Makki entirely and walked him through his long held grudge which I believe will make their relationship stronger. With time, maybe Makki will love him.
I'm late discovering this gem of a series. No character analysis from me but to say how well each of the cast played their part. Poignant memories of the past and yet hope for the future. Bravo!
Very well written series. As weird as everyone says their surrogacy situation was, I tend to think it’s probably happened many times for many gay couples when a ‘friend’ steps in to offer to carry the baby for them. My thoughts about this series; Makki is the central character who in a way rescues & is true protector of Meiko , both during her vulnerable start at the beginning, and throughout the series. He is beside her to remind her of her value as a true friend should. Until the day that he realizes she lied to him, and she was overstepping into his relationship. (It was easy to see that she lied to Makki to keep him from running away). Meiko should never have made the offer to carry the baby in the first place for the guys. But as her inner dialogue says when at the train terminal , the guys have a separate world that she is not a part of. So did she do this so she could get closer to that world? Or does she always want to protect Eiji from getting hurt (this time by his father)? But she fails to realize Makki’s feelings until the moment she’s told how far along she is in her pregnancy. Makki as well is a quiet rescuer of Eiji, giving him reminders of his worth, and later gives his heart to Eiji. Eiji is an insecure pleaser, who was bullied at a young age and needs that love but would never ask for it. But he got it from Makki. But when it came down to it, he’d sacrifice his own happiness for that of his family and a so-called ‘normal life. Hurting Makki to the core. I believe Eiji’s true love is Makki. Sadly though he never protected him. But if you notice he never takes his eyes off Makki during their reunion. And Makki’s comments were true daggers into Eiji. Wish we saw more into his emotions, even though he broke down at the end, realizing he still loves Makki and how much heartbreak he caused him. I liked how the series began and ended in the same riverside path, between the two who needed each other the most (Meiko & Makki).
I loved what you wrote, I agree that Eiji should have been the one to firmly refuse the whole having a child for the sole purpose of producing an heir. However, he did tell his father he wouldn't break up with Makki when they were invited to dinner. It was Makki who stated that he liked Eiji's father and that he understood to a curtain extent why he was against their relationship. In my opinion Makki was willing to walk away from that moment. I think deep down he knew the relationship was doomed, when he had a one-on-one conversation with the father at Eiji's apartment, followed by Eiji's announcement that he would resign from his job to join his father's company and then finally when Eiji's attentions shifted to Meiko. The writing was on the wall. I think Makki was the more levelheaded of the three, even though he seemed carefree. He cared deeply and protected them, it's sad to observe him live half a life, carrying so much guilty and pain with him. I enjoyed watching them take different paths in the end. I think it symbolized moving forward separately. Hopefully towards a better quality of life. It was difficult to watch this series, it really gives you a lot to think about.
I agree with this a LOT! To me this is a VERY bittersweet story as much as im happy for Makki that he found someone who TRULY cares for him, SADLY its gonna take a while for him to EXCEPT that, and to admit he also feels the same. Then I feel bad for his EX a bit, coz although he really hurt Makki and pushed him away, he was obviously pressured into doing what he did😢 I dont feel too bad for Meiko as she knew what her friends had was LOVE and she messed their relationship up for SELFISH reasons, and didnt even try to get them back together even of it were years later. Like i doubt Eiji really even loved her at all like that, it was more so admired her a LOT i think. Maybe when he said he "loved" it wasnt quite true, he might have just loved the baby who she was carrying, so felt like he loved her even when he didn't really? If that makes sense.

I think in the end they both needed space to mourn the loss of Makki, it broke my heart to see him cry while holding Makki’s robe. We all have to live with the consequences of our actions.
This flim is so deep I told myself not to cry but I can't help it but the ending is okay thank you guys for this beautiful flim I have been feeling down lately but after watching this I feel like my depression is no where near some people's own am so help for makki😊
It is beautiful. More than words said it all. One mistake and it affected all their lives. But I am glad Maki did get his happy ending. Maki said it was a relationship of 3 it was never the two. Mieko was not sure what or who she wanted to be with. Mieko and Ejji loved Maki but forgot about him due to their own selfish reasons. Mieko for saying she would be a surrogate but did not think it through. Ejji cannot stand up for his love against his father or fight for his love for Maki. I like the ending. I hope there is not a second season as it will lose its meaning. As BL fans we all love a happy ending. I am very satisfied with this ending

Wow I really did waste ma time watching this series 🙂👍 the betrayal and ending got me too much. They betrayed him no matter where you look at. Makki didn't want the child or something but he went along for Eiji because he really loved him. But Eiji neglected him and put the child as his priority. l felt sad for Eiji but he got his sad ending and l'm glad he did. Makki could have stayed if Eiji did show him affection. Mieko was kinda same as always. She only wanted Makki to be part of her life. But having a marriage with his ex like still a big NO.
Ur forgetting the part where makki LITERALLY ABANDONED THEM, he acted extremely immature by doing that. If he felt neglected then he could've talked about it with eiji. Eiji was giving the girl more attention because she WAS PREGNANT. How did Makki not realize that? makki was super in the wrong the ENTIRE show. I'm shocked at how u got it all sooo WRONG.

i get that people always wants happy endings, especially in bl (for me this is more like queer drama) but life isn't always rainbows and sunshine, people make mistakes and suffer from the consequences of their actions. imo this series actually very good

Wow! This was an emotional overload series. It was funny😂, sad😢 and emotional heartbreaking 😭with a emotional happy ending for all parties🥲. Subtitles made a difference in enjoying this series. Thank you for the download, I really enjoyed it.
I do not have nice things to say about Eiji and Meiko but I'm happy Makki would learn to love again. I just pray he genuinely moves on or else he'd lose the other person that genuinely cares for him. And... Why do i feel like Makki genuinely loves that baby?
That Eiji and Mieko staying together after Makki disappeared says so much about how selfish they are. They care about themselves more than Makki. They should have stayed separated and live their own lives just like what Makki has done. 本当にマッキのことを大事にしてるなら、二人は絶対一緒にならないよね。だから、結局自分のことが一番だね。ひどすぎる。So, I cannot say that this series is great, cause there is this huge fault : the gap between how much Eiji and Mieko love Makki prior to the pregnancy and how much they changed once the child was born. Unless the love was not deep enough.
A slow moving series in some sense !! But so enjoyed it !! there was love , expectance to a point , they were all looking for love in their own way !! Wanting to belong overall a very true to life story !!

@@mrweltyang I think the cause of all this mess was Eiji, it was clear how the whole process was going to be between the three of them.... Eiji, by betraying Maki showed how he cared so less about Maki. I am happy that Maki was with Asato,who truly adored and respected him.
That cry at the end by eiji was evident and heartbreaking, he did regret but it was to late, only choice was to accept reality and cry silently at night. 😊 I wish they showed maki and the other guys wedding attended by eiji and Meiko 👽. Eiji was six years older? That was mentioned in an earlier episode. When one is a teen, they are so much younger than just a six year age difference. They are more naive, vulnerable, innocent, loving, and trusting. Eiji knew the limitations and expectations on his life set by himself, his father, society, etc, long before he started that relationship. He took advantage of a gullible youth IMHO. I have no empathy for him. The child will be raised. The wife will then divorce him. The youth that he loved/loves will never go back to him. He will spend his later years alone with an occasional visit from the child. He made wrong choices throughout, and brought pain to so many lives, including his own. So many blame the woman; but she was also young. Eiji should have kept boundaries and vetoed getting close to her. Once again, he used her naivete to selfishly get his own way...a child.

Makki hurt really bad, he cant take the pain anymore thats why he ran away, from the moment eiji told his parent that he have relationship w makki and he stop his sister to talk about it make makki felt that eiji didnt really care because start from that makki also start to smile and say everything fine or he just keep his mouth shut. For eiji, he show no affection or show even tiny bit worry about makki especially when makki late from the cs until meiko the one who look for him. Meiko she too meddlesome, she only want makki to always stay with her without realising that wht she did is will make another problem. But like makki said to sugimoto, they still immature and thinks that the only way for eiji and makki to not break up is to have a baby. Thats that, overall its really from what happen from time to time in the society nowdays. But, why didnt Makki get a happy end !!!!!!!!!!!

I love whoever created the characters! Well thought and well written script, too. Kudos! But i hate eiji, he can't stand his ground considering he is 6 years older. As for mieko, she planned it all along. What a miserable person! My hearts breaks for makki. He's a pure soul.
Found this late as well. It is truly sad but at least typical in the reality that in order to fit in you have to sacrifice and swallow your own happiness. That is what everyone wants, fit in at all costs and live your life alone, emotionally, and in regret because you cannot be with who you love. I guess the parents are happy and that makes it all OK. :(
They are need closure to grief and end that chapter of their lives, mourn for the love that ended and couldn’t be fought for, mourn for naive mistakes made and mourn for not loving her self more (the meiko)

This is a great serie. But I really don't like the fact that Eiji n mieko having everything while Seno lost somewhere that no out. Which is he lost his happy self, his careless beautiful soul, literally he lost himself.. I Know it's hard for same sex lovers to live in this world. Bt yet I hate love triangles. Everyone must be able to communicate about the problems or they must leave the person behind they don't feel love before it's too late. The one who's leaving never gonna understand the pain of other person. They May be able to smile again. Bt that pain will haunt them for their whole life.

I felt the Asato/grandpa input was unnecessary to the story. I saw Eiji and Meiko relationship as a bit of a sham, and that Eiji abandoned his 'love' for Makki shows he didn't love him either. A baby wont change you from being gay to straight. You might live that life but at some point there's a giant recipe for lies and deceit. Is it significant Eiji and Meiko only have the one child?
Mieko and Eiji are the most evil and inhumane characters I've ever seen in my entire life. She, the worst of the opportunists. He, a "converted heterosexual" without the slightest feeling.

I believe Eiji’s true love is Makki. Sadly though he never protected him.
But if you notice he never takes his eyes off Makki during their reunion. And Makki’s comments were true daggers into Eiji.
Wish we saw more into his emotions, even though he broke down at the end, realizing he still loves Makki and how much heartbreak he caused him.
I liked how the series began and ended in the same riverside path, between the two who needed each other the most (Meiko & Makki).
I loved what you wrote, I agree that Eiji should have been the one to firmly refuse the whole having a child for the sole purpose of producing an heir. However, he did tell his father he wouldn't break up with Makki when they were invited to dinner. It was Makki who stated that he liked Eiji's father and that he understood to a curtain extent why he was against their relationship.
In my opinion Makki was willing to walk away from that moment. I think deep down he knew the relationship was doomed, when he had a one-on-one conversation with the father at Eiji's apartment, followed by Eiji's announcement that he would resign from his job to join his father's company and then finally when Eiji's attentions shifted to Meiko. The writing was on the wall. I think Makki was the more levelheaded of the three, even though he seemed carefree. He cared deeply and protected them, it's sad to observe him live half a life, carrying so much guilty and pain with him. I enjoyed watching them take different paths in the end. I think it symbolized moving forward separately. Hopefully towards a better quality of life. It was difficult to watch this series, it really gives you a lot to think about.

To me this is a VERY bittersweet story as much as im happy for Makki that he found someone who TRULY cares for him, SADLY its gonna take a while for him to EXCEPT that, and to admit he also feels the same.
Then I feel bad for his EX a bit, coz although he really hurt Makki and pushed him away, he was obviously pressured into doing what he did😢
I dont feel too bad for Meiko as she knew what her friends had was LOVE and she messed their relationship up for SELFISH reasons, and didnt even try to get them back together even of it were years later. Like i doubt Eiji really even loved her at all like that, it was more so admired her a LOT i think. Maybe when he said he "loved" it wasnt quite true, he might have just loved the baby who she was carrying, so felt like he loved her even when he didn't really? If that makes sense.

@@esme7997 I think they were both in love with Makki, and they never stopped loving him. Which is why she attempted to convince Makki that he was the father of the baby to make him stay. I think in the end they both needed space to mourn the loss of Makki, it broke my heart to see him cry while holding Makki’s robe. We all have to live with the consequences of our actions.

This flim is so deep I told myself not to cry but I can't help it but the ending is okay thank you guys for this beautiful flim I have been feeling down lately but after watching this I feel like my depression is no where near some people's own am so help for makki😊
It is beautiful. More than words said it all. One mistake and it affected all their lives. But I am glad Maki did get his happy ending. Maki said it was a relationship of 3 it was never the two. Mieko was not sure what or who she wanted to be with.
Mieko and Ejji loved Maki but forgot about him due to their own selfish reasons. Mieko for saying she would be a surrogate but did not think it through. Ejji cannot stand up for his love against his father or fight for his love for Maki. I like the ending. I hope there is not a second season as it will lose its meaning.
As BL fans we all love a happy ending. I am very satisfied with this ending
Meiko and Eiji are living 2gether but they don't love each other which is one part hurt them both,the person they both like is no longer with them

the betrayal and ending got me too much. They betrayed him no matter where you look at. Makki didn't want the child or something but he went along for Eiji because he really loved him. But Eiji neglected him and put the child as his priority. l felt sad for Eiji but he got his sad ending and l'm glad he did. Makki could have stayed if Eiji did show him affection.
Mieko was kinda same as always. She only wanted Makki to be part of her life. But having a marriage with his ex like still a big NO.

That Eiji and Mieko staying together after Makki disappeared says so much about how selfish they are. They care about themselves more than Makki. They should have stayed separated and live their own lives just like what Makki has done. 本当にマッキのことを大事にしてるなら、二人は絶対一緒にならないよね。だから、結局自分のことが一番だね。ひどすぎる。So, I cannot say that this series is great, cause there is this huge fault : the gap between how much Eiji and Mieko love Makki prior to the pregnancy and how much they changed once the child was born. Unless the love was not deep enough.
A slow moving series in some sense !! But so enjoyed it !! there was love , expectance to a point , they were all looking for love in their own way !! Wanting to belong overall a very true to life story !!

Eiji was six years older? That was mentioned in an earlier episode. When one is a teen, they are so much younger than just a six year age difference. They are more naive, vulnerable, innocent, loving, and trusting. Eiji knew the limitations and expectations on his life set by himself, his father, society, etc, long before he started that relationship. He took advantage of a gullible youth IMHO. I have no empathy for him. The child will be raised. The wife will then divorce him. The youth that he loved/loves will never go back to him. He will spend his later years alone with an occasional visit from the child. He made wrong choices throughout, and brought pain to so many lives, including his own. So many blame the woman; but she was also young. Eiji should have kept boundaries and vetoed getting close to her. Once again, he used her naivete to selfishly get his own way...a child.

Makki hurt really bad, he cant take the pain anymore thats why he ran away, from the moment eiji told his parent that he have relationship w makki and he stop his sister to talk about it make makki felt that eiji didnt really care because start from that makki also start to smile and say everything fine or he just keep his mouth shut. For eiji, he show no affection or show even tiny bit worry about makki especially when makki late from the cs until meiko the one who look for him. Meiko she too meddlesome, she only want makki to always stay with her without realising that wht she did is will make another problem. But like makki said to sugimoto, they still immature and thinks that the only way for eiji and makki to not break up is to have a baby. Thats that, overall its really from what happen from time to time in the society nowdays. But, why didnt Makki get a happy end !!!!!!!!!!!

Found this late as well. It is truly sad but at least typical in the reality that in order to fit in you have to sacrifice and swallow your own happiness. That is what everyone wants, fit in at all costs and live your life alone, emotionally, and in regret because you cannot be with who you love. I guess the parents are happy and that makes it all OK. :(

Ejji pas assez courageux pour se battre contre son toquard de père qui a peur du qu'en dira t'on et qui exige de son fils une vie conventionnelle sans amour. On voit comme il pleure avec le kimono. J'aime pas sa lâcheté. Je pense qu'il ne s'est pas vraiment réconcilié avec ses parents, tant mieux. 😢Avec meiko, je pense que c'est une relation amicale "plus" car elle lui a donné un enfant. Je pense qu'elle aurait voulue maki, mais finalement, elle lui a quand même enlevé ejji, j'aime pas son double jeu. I felt the Asato/grandpa input was unnecessary to the story. I saw Eiji and Meiko relationship as a bit of a sham, and that Eiji abandoned his 'love' for Makki shows he didn't love him either. A baby wont change you from being gay to straight. You might live that life but at some point there's a giant recipe for lies and deceit. Is it significant Eiji and Meiko only have the one child?
Mieko and Eiji are the most evil and inhumane characters I've ever seen in my entire life. She, the worst of the opportunists. He, a "converted heterosexual" without the slightest feeling.
