@@vijays2128 in an average priced gear cycle like example Montra Madrock , it comes with a 21 gears ( 7 x 3 ) . In the handle bar you have 1 - 7 on right and 1- 3 on left . So there are 21 combinations. Like on the left keep anything ( 1 - 3 ) and on the right keep anything ( 1 - 7 )

1 - 3
...and so on .

I do these sometimes when climbing a slope. When it gets harder, I shift to an easier gear in front and a tougher gear at rear, so that the momentum doesn't drop drastically.
Always wondered if that is okay. Would stop myself from doing this next time.
