I chose bench so I could learn from one of the best players who played at my school and my brother. And I got to learn the speed of varsity.
In my opinion by playing on JV you would learn the game faster cause your playing but that's just me

You have to play/graduate/be bumped up from JV starting to even practice/dress for Varsity where I'm from, we went from starting JV to dressed at varsity and practice squad, you're done with JV minute you graduate to Varsity.

I have a small school so I’m a freshman benching I’m varsity but sometimes I go in 4th quarter
9-11th play all the jv you can. Even playing varsity on Friday nights. Every high school rep counts and definitely will remember them all. Senior yr is when you ball out for everyone but just on Friday nights of course.

Varsity no one looks at 9 graders too much anymore so I would have time to get used to varsity and dominate
I played jv up to half way through jr year. I could have road the bench on varsity but decided to be a jv all star and balled out. Moved me up to second string on varsity. Put in the work and went hard senior year. I feel like my stats were better on jv though

honestly both because as a bench player on the varsity shows that your part of the varsity program and there’s an entire community behind you. starting jv gives you many chances to show your coaches what you have what it takes to be a varsity starter
I was both last year then I got my drip revoked and have to start varsity
If the Coach has you on the Varsity team, he needs you there, and you'll (eventually) get playing time. My Senior Year, we had to pull our starting QB straight from the Freshman team (he was visibly better than our backup Varsity QB).

Sat on varsity bench as a freshman once we got to playoffs 😂 was a proud 2nd and 3rd string at that age even got to play during playoffs was best experience for me.
I feel like sitting varsity bench is a better experience as you could start the next year and have that beneficial experience rather than starting jv and not being used to varsity speed. Congrats to you tho

me freshman cousin is both. hes a starter on jv but a varsity bench player. he plays on varsity if their up alot
I set JV records because the guy playing in front of me was an AA while i was probably around an all state level. But i did ride bench for varsity and we got 3 rings.... i went on to play 2 sports at the NCAA. And established a culture for one of those sports that is still felt to this day.

coach gave my son a choice and i chose for him. start JV as a freshman. bench Varsity as a sophomore. he pushed the starter out his sophomore year, and now he's playing in college.
