  • @Pavewy
    @Pavewy ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Root flare should have been located first, sometimes it's buried deep into the root ball. If it is, and you follow these instructions, you will plant the tree far too deep and will potentially eventually have dysfunctional roots and/or root rot, like Armillaria. Once you locate the root flare, the tree should be planted so that the root flare is just above original soil line, but that means you might have less root ball - and that's ok.

    There is no reason at all to stake that tree. It is small enough (height) that it will stand on its own and be fine. Some movement in the trunk with wind and such is desirable for trunk and root strength development. Far too many people stake trees that should not be staked at all. Only very top heavy trees with small rootballs should be staked.

    That is very clay soil. Digging a hole only as deep as the root ball means the roots will have a hard time penetrated that clay soil. I always dig a much deeper hole and fill it with good loam soil and part compost. That way the roots have a good chance to spread out and deep. Refilling the wider hole with that same clay soil means the roots will have hard time spreading out among the clay. All these TH-cam videos show the same planting method that does not give the tree a fighting change with bad soil.

      You should just let the tree grow. You don't need fertilizer if the tree is supposed to grow there than it should if it doesn't pick another spot.
      Remember you can't just dig your Packyard full of trees the soil will become weak and acidy.

    • @GN-dp7ej
      @GN-dp7ej 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I guess they adapted to grow and spread naturally in certain environments. But now we plant trees anywhere and gotta give some of them a boost given the soil conditions, ph, moisture, sunlight and temp which may not be optimal for whatever plant you’re trying to grow.
