The panhandle is a truly odd place. There are parts of it that just don't feel like Florida at all. It honestly feels like more of an extension of Alabama or Georgia.

The beaches here in Florida panhandle are beautiful. The water has a green color to them. That's why it's called the emerald coast. When I was a kid living in Alabamawe would come down here on vacation because my grandparents didn't live too far from here. Highway 98 was a two-lane highway. Mom and dad would not let us swim on the gulf side we had to go to the now back then you could try to cross that highway with your family no problem. We stayed at the KOA in fort Walton Beach. it is no longer there due to all the expansion andbut used to do you could see the gulf coast from highway 98 you cannot anymore because of all the high-rises and building up in the area. believe it or not it really was once a beautiful place kind of still is but it was a fishing village in Destin. I have been here for over 30 years I still maintain this is a beautiful place. Dustin still is an interesting place to visit as well as fort Walton Beach.

One thing you should have expanded on when exploring Ft Pickens. There were three forts to protect the Pensacola Bay entrance - Ft Pickens, Ft Barrancas and Ft MaCrea. All are still existing, though, Ft MaCrea was destroyed by a hurricane, there are still parts left remaining. It is a unique and interesting historical fact of our area.

All, yes, ALL of Florida was once pretty much uniformly Southern in all aspects. Pensacola to Jacksonville to Key West and everywhere else in between was once just as Dixiefied as anywhere else in, well, Dixie! People seem to forget, or flat out ignore this fact which is both sad and angering! Even today with all the Damn Yankees and other Foreigners who've inundated our state and refused to assimilate to us, Florida is still Southern at heart. And, despite what the narrator of this video claims, Southern Hospitality, sweet tea, trucks, and Southern charm can all be found in all regions of the state, even South Florida, especially in the rural areas. Folks, take off your ignorant goggles and learn some facts!

That was beautiful! I felt that felt comment!! You can come, but assimilate to our ways, don't bring your mess!!! Love that! I was born and raised in the Boston area, accent and all, but I moved to VT 25 years ago and respected the VT way. Now yrs later this state has been overrun with rich college educated liberals that know better than all the locals and farmers. GROSS!!! It used to be a red state! Now it feels like a "make sin legal state" LOL We put our house on the market and it's under contract and I am shopping in the panhandle, more north so the hurricanes won't be too bad. Unless that's an ignorant comment?? I'll bring my Trump flag, vote red, love trucks and atv's and down to earth people. The lib's can have this state, I'm running with arms wide open to FLORIDA!!!
