I never realized that MotorWeek reviewed the AP2 S2000. While the S2000 isn't for everyone, I think of them as pretty special cars. In stock form the 2004 & 2005 AP2v1 cars are my favorites of the bunch, but there are certainly no shortage of fans when it comes to either the earlier AP1 cars or the later AP2 cars with their drive-by-wire throttle configuration. @@coldvaper How long did you own your AP1? Were I tasked with buying a S2000 today, I would still give preference to the AP2v1 cars. But as S2K prices have increased significantly over the past 7 years (not unlike many other cars), I would likely pick up the cleanest example made between 2000 - 2005 that I could find within my budget.
The watered down S2000. The first time I drove one I couldn't believe how neutered it was compared to the AP1. And the worst part was, the S2000's Achilles heel and the reason why I never bought one--it's excessively high seating position--wasn't even improved!
You have to drive one to understand them, is not about the straight line acceleration, this cars are about driver feel and turns.. The engines are also very strong and customizable, you can easily make 500whp on this cars on stock motors with a turbo set up.
Are you serious? “Hondas and sports cars don’t mix.” You do know that Honda developed and mastered variable valve timing. They also introduced the original NSX to show Ferrari a thing or two about reliability and innovation. Also, do some research on their racing history. Yes, the S2000 may not be for everyone, but it’s one of the absolute best handling roadsters of all time. Hondas aren’t cheap, but they hold their value or even go up in value over the years. Take a look at the 93-96 VTEC Prelude. Those cars were extremely quick for the period.
1:16 im glad mine has a blue leather seats black dash and interior with blue accents and not this blue interior with black accents my seats are the same though next month is my bday and itll also be the last patment of a 5year car loan and the s2000 will be mine and not the banks
