    Ok, so I wasn't so conservative with the siren... I watched the first minute of the video and thought it was a different one.

    If it was a brush fire why park in front of a brush truck?

      Our local PD, SO and DPS have even told us to run red and blues now despite state law because people stopped caring about red or red and white. It is pretty relaxed in some parts of Texas now. Oh and just keep it under 100mph, they dont enforce the 10 over rule for POV where I'm from.

    Seems like such a long drive to the station for you.. Then again I'm a straight shot to mine. 5 minutes max with no lights or sirens.

    Hi Dustin Amy I'm curious about why you have red and blue emergency warning lights on your car. Idk maybe that is the rules for your state but all I can say is that in my state of New Jersey we are only allowed to use eathier all blue emergency warning lights or a combination of blue and white emergency warning lights. Can you explain what the light laws are for your state and why you are allowed to have red and blue emergency warning lights that would be great thanks

    Just curious how you can rub red blue and sirens are you a first responder? Or can all in your debt rub lights and sirens? We run blue but if I am coming from like a town over I can't switch them on until I'm in my county to respond code 2 I guess you could call it but we can't run res lights stop signs. Pretty strict in Illinois the only time I actually was able too was when we had a tornado and I basically responded code 3 behind a group of cops going about 80. Nice setup! Btw

      Hes somewhere in texas every state as you should know by now has their rules. Texas is pretty relaxed on pov units, especially in rural areas. Although if I'm not wrong all units with lights need a siren in the state of texas. I can also bet hes not messed with being a scene commander

    • @jamesluck2969
      @jamesluck2969 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I live next to a fire marshal with pov in northern Illinois, hes really by state law only allowed to roll blue but has the mix of red and green for ems duties also. He said he's not allowed to roll siren in the state but horns are a gray area, has two twin trumpets that wig awg on off. Hes never had issues yet he is a marshal.

    Hey, thanks for the video. I not see other people there - do you be the fastest all time? In other video from an other firefighter show law that you can drive very fast with light and siren - why do you also drove so slow? Or it is different if you use only light? What happend if you meet other fire apparatus or ambulance or police at crossing - how can drive first?

      Theres a country in mid Indiana that allows blues with green for ems certified people, all have sirens. They usually find a way to pull a convoy when calls come out. Eh no one minds them everyone rather have the department show up within time then wait.

      Just recently had a buddy of mine get pulled over in his POV while responding to the station, they assumed he was a kid impersonating a police officer, no actions taken or anything and I was just curious.

    • @dustinamy5355
      @dustinamy5355  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      macyND local law enforcement knows who I have running code out of my Dept. I also have a strict set of guidelines and policies that are followed. Not to mention, my Suburban is adorned with FD decals and I don't pull people over. Other than that, the general public should assume that all vehicles that are running lights and siren are legit, could be detrimental if they don't. The impersonators always get caught... always.

      Funny you mention that; brought back a good memory! 😂 Years ago I was responding in my POV (a retired Crown Vic CVPI, no lights/siren at the time; just running my hazards) directly to the scene of a mutual aide structure fire 🔥. Hit the freeway & had a State Hwy Patrol come up lights/siren in my rearview. At first I assumed she was heading to the fire as well. I slowed down just a little bit & she remained behind me... so I pull over. She comes up to the window & says “where are you headed so fast?” (I was only going about 15 over the speed limit & had my bunker pants on with remaining gear on the passenger seat). I replied “well ma’am you see that huge cloud of black smoke over there?! That’s where I’m headed!” She says something like well be careful & I’ll be headed to the scene also to speak with your chief & issue you a speeding ticket. Well she never showed up. Afterwards later that evening I called the state police barracks just to follow up & spoke with the commander. He was EXTREMELY apologetic for the stop, said I didn’t break any laws, & said that officer had been reprimanded!😳😳

      PA Firefighters can run blue lights, or blue/white. Red if you're a chief

    • @jasonladue
      @jasonladue 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In Missouri, we can run blue or blue/white to the front and anything we want to the sides and back. Chiefs (and technically anyone with an officer rank such as Lts and Capts although it's seldom done) can run red to the front as well. Missouri's law only specifies Forward facing. Technically, anyone in Missouri (as in non emergency services people) can run lights on the back of their vehicle (although they will get some hassle from LEOs if they do use them inappropriately)

      I only have 1 railroad crossing to worry about when I respond and I've been stopped by it at least 4 times in the past year. It seems there's a direct connection between how important the call is and how slow the train is moving Haha
