    As a 2012 member who had the privilege of performing this piece, I will say that nothing beats the sound of these G bugles. Thank you '93 hornline.

    This was recorded in 1993. In a high school auditorium. It was part of a christmas CD called Ornaments in Brass that DCI produced that year. The corps also recorded Amazing Grace at the same location and it is also on the album. I was a member of the PR pit that summer, so I got to sit in on part of the recording. Amazing hornline that year.

    I went to a Phantom audition camp in '94. One of the highlights of my drum corps career, though I didn't march there, was playing this piece with them!

    I have heard this 100 times and it never fails to give me goosebumps & make me feel emotional. I expect that if I hear it another 1,000, that won't change. What an amazing, powerful hornline. Today's DCI band instrument lines are pretty, but can't compare. Regiment has a number of phenomenal signature pieces, but for me nothing can touch this & Elsa's.

    Saw this ensemble at DCI finals in Jackson, MS. The show was phenomenal, as was Amazing Grace in the retreat. The best part was following them to the parking lat where they played most of the show again, just for themselves,...completely immersed in the realization that that group of souls would never play together again, and that the moments had to be milked for every ounce of perfection. It was a moment where you thank God for being in that place, at that very time.

    It overwhelms me to read all these positive comments. I played eupho (Buicks) on this recording. You can thank Dan Farrell for pulling this out of us. We did many takes and Lord Dan took the podium and commanded this performance. SUTA!!!!

    Correct, this was '93. Recorded in a studio, included on the 'Ornaments in Brass' CD. I think DCI still sells it. It was originally on cassette.

    I conducted this my senior year of high school as one of the three drum majors for my high school's marching band. We won the best drum major award twice in the three competitions in which we participated. Needless to say, this brings back many memories.

    I have been a huge fan of PR for about 20 years. My cousin march with them from the time he was able to join the junior corps. I prefer the white uniforms. That is what PR is known for. My aunt and uncle took in kids that marched PR also. I personally think most people didn't recognize them with all black. I know my aunt and uncle didn't like them

  • @zackg3
    @zackg3 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @jadebrew I Think the black was an original bad ass uniform idea, but after so many others tacked onto the idea the abrupt all-white gives them a look of crisp perfection and purity, just like the sound they produce. I think they should switch back and forth depending on the music selection. The all white and silver is a little eery and it really pops on the field. Black is sinister, but I did like it better.

    I guess when you think of a Phantom you think of someone or something wearing all black or a shadow type figure. Either way as long as the music stays the same it really does not matter. I like the black as well but white is cool too.

    lol XD i know, but i think it's because the black uniforms back then, didn't look as good as the white ones, however, if they went all black with the same looking uniform that the drum majors wore in this pic, i wouldn't mind at all. It looks really, kickass. But sadly, they already changed uniforms last year. :/
