James, I once again applaud your thorough discussion of the financial side of boating. You're pulling back the curtain and helped viewers and shoppers better understand what it takes to 'dive in' to boating. So...I'll give this review another '10'! (Sorry about the wet socks...)
I'm gonna give you a 9/10 for entertainment, 8/10 for product knowledge, 8/10 for quality of production, 6/10 for staying dry (the wet sock let you down) and that gives me a total of 16/45, well maths was never my strong point. Keep making the vids, always fun to watch, ps, if you could fall in the water occasionally for a bit of slapstick humour I might just give you a 10/10. Thanks
We recentley changed a Bavaria 33S HT for a 2018 Sea Ray 320 open with hard top, the best option here in the Balearic Islands, especially as she has A/C in the oockpit! Good to see that the rear facing seat squabs have been shortened, giving more space on the bathing platform. We continually have 10+ adults onboard and the lack of storage space is a pain for glasses, plates etc, so forget the BBQ grill - especially with our teak decking. A weekender IMO only for a young family. Bow seats are great for four people. The sliding front seat back needs a lock to secure it in either position - without it is dangerous. A well built & finished boat. Captain John, 40 years experience in the Med & Caribean
I remember when a new sea-ray was about $1000/ft. Now 10x. My income, unfortunately, has not kept pace with that multiple over the decades. Of course, the one I had used plywood under the cockpit carpet. Built to last!

James, this is video it's a step up, great presentation and is that still Dan behind the camera? Kudos to him keeping up with you sooo much better these days, especially around that cockpit. Really enjoying your work 👌 and that Sea Ray is exquisite 😍
James - even if you got the wet socks (and I'm sure it was water ;) ! ) - this boat tour was another brilliant piece of information! Thanks a lot for this! Have a great time ahead, I'm looking forward for you next vlog!
I love the idea of owning a boat and running around with family and friends. However the running costs per year start to get very pricey and kill that idea quickly. Great video though especially explaining the financial side of boat ownership.
Another Beauty James, Love this one.....great review James and Sea trial ! yes, would be even better with the teak decking....perhaps the owner will consider this at later stage. Great fan of Sea Ray ! Time to replenish your sock stock James !!😊😂😎⛵
I had a searay built in 1980 got it in 1995 the haul was just as strong as what you are watching here searay boats are built like a rock thick and strong
Get rid of the stern drives (outdrives) in favour of outboards, improve the side profile aesthetics, add fold a down 'patio' as per the 40LX (?) and you're 97% of the way there in regards to a bloody ripper of a day (overnighter) boat. Love the fact there's no clears to worry about at the helm.... No matter how good your trimmer is.... they will always leak. BTW. thoroughly enjoy your reviews and your candour... Fan Perth Western Aust.
The glasshouse is a bit ugly considering how nice the rest of the boat is - and the money for any boat now is just ridiculous. But who cares, go for it. Congrats to the new owner
Didn't we see the name 'MOJO' on a Princess V50 recently? Boat seems very similar layout amd cost to Beneteau GT32 but much better quality. Great vid as usual James.
Shocking to me that James didn’t get his socks wet until he got into the cabin! Between the rain and hi/low swim platform, i was positive they got wet early on in the video! 🧦 🧦
Great review and really appreciate going through the cost of the investment. With that said, $8 a gallon for fuel which is $127 per hour at only 20 knots. Ownership according to this video cost per year in U.S. dollars is $38,000 (fuel, financing, etc) + $23,000 in fixed cost for a total annual cost of $61,000 (not including depreciation). Wow! ."it even has lights in your cup holder so you can see your beer" ... this was at the helm and not a good idea while running unless you want a DUI.
Mojo? This name sounds familiar. Aren’t these the same owners of that V50 you’ve been trying to sell for quite some time now? Quality 9/10?! Come on, James. It’s a product made by the Brunswick Corp. How can that be a 9? Also, may I suggest you add seakeeping to your score? SeaRays do ok on a flat lake in Tennessee where they’re built. But out on the Channel? Good luck!
If it had diesel engines, what would be the fuel cost difference? Would it give the same performance? Just trying to work out pros and cons of diesel and petrol in boats.
As a broker who sells mostly SeaRays in Canada, I can tell you that the buy in cost of diesels over fuel is substantial and the service costs are much more. Unless you plan to put on a lot of hours the diesels are a waste of money. Additionally diesel fuel is much more expensive at this time than gas.
60 l / h is probably for one engine, if you do 50 hours a year, take gasoline, if more than 100 hours, buy diesels, I have diesel and it's ok. At 7 knots I have a fuel consumption of 10 liters / h, at 23 knots 70 liters / h. For two engines.
Could you clarify the cost of deprecition are you saying that if I bought this boat to day you would changing it for a new one in one years time for £25000?
@@jimmy1949 . Obviously the difficult bit is the price of the new sea Ray in a years time. If it’s 20% more that would circa £80k more. If the sea Ray does drop £25k then the cost to upgrade would be circa £105k ( plus dealer margins and costs)
@@Boatscouk many thanks for you reply £80k to £100k plus say 8% dealer cost look about right for first year depreciation (compared to my boat a squadron55). A better annual cost to take ownership over 10 years like the finance , outher cost like loss of compound interest and inflation would also need to be considered. Value of wonderful memories priceless
I wouldnt pay that for this boat, the galley sucks, head is too small. I know Searay builds a good quality boat but not at that price. I had a sun bridge cruiser years ago but it was affordable but now days the builders are getting ridiculous with their prices.

Nice, but not worth the money. Running costs alone go against it and then there's the cabin, what sort of galley is that. Clearly made for people who don't want or can't cook. I mean, you've got out of bed and fancy a slice of toast - get up darling so I can fold the table to put the plates out? It's just not practical enough and don't get me started me on that bathing platform, half of your berthing fees are right there and who cares if the back end drops down. Sure, a novelty to begin with but after that it serves no practical purpose . it's more about flash than functionality. Finally, it's typical of all American boats (and I know because I own one), they have maximised the internal space and left you nowhere to walk around the deck. If money is no object then indulge yourself but to me it's not a smart purchase
These boats are made just down the road from me in FLA. One of the worst boats around. Run away... even for free! They were decent at best... 30 years ago! Buy a Stamas, Hatteras, Tidewater, Freeman, Yellowfin if you want a quality boat.

The first thing I would do is moor it somewhere else as that is shocking for a 32ft boat.
You could moor it at Essex marina if you liked near there
