+God Nondedju To be fair I don't think it was booing, it was just a lower cheer due to it being mostly men, contrasted against the previous cheer for Sophie Turner which had a lot more women screaming. So it wasn't so much a case of people confusing characters and actors as it was women not cheering because they aren't attracted to men in the terrified, torture victim kind of role (well I guess that is confusing characters and actors, but whatever).
It's for the Chrt not the actor, I think. They didn't know Then was hot g to change a bit later on in few yrs or seasons or 3 or so later.

Sophie Turner is an effing cool chick. Loved how she answered all her questions. Enjoyed listening to all the cast members' answers, but she's just super cool. It was also nice to see Conleth Hill's great sense of humor. I've heard a lot of cast members mention in previous interviews how he's the funniest on set, and it was cool to actually see a little bit of that in this panel.

I feel bad for Liam Cunningham being such a talented actor that he is, there wasn't much of recognition for him or his character.. Not only here but any interview like Conan.. But he is such a sport he was very attentive,enthusiastic and more lively, constantly clapping,smiling.. I just love this man.. Much respect to you sir..
Alfie and Iwan are probably the best actors we see on the show. Alfie is such a different person than Reek, and it amazes me how well he portrays him. Stephen Dillane is pretty good too.

Based on what I saw watching this panel, Gwendoline Christie is hands down the most articulate member of the cast, while John Bradley and Conleth Hill are the wittiest! Dumb and awkward questions aside, these guys were a joy to listen to and the strongest part of this whole thing! Props to them :)

My vote goes to John Bradley for the articulation as well.
The problem with live panel, with live audience, is that the atmosphere is distracting and not cozy enough to collect your own thoughts and pay attention to your conversation mates at the same time. You sit side by side for such a large group and you are not eye to eye with any of them. But you see a lot of things happening down at the floor although the audience is not part of the conversation except for the initial question. So you end up interrupting each other or losing your train of thoughts because so many things are happening in front of you, beside you and around you. You don't know the questions beforehand like the formal interview either.
Sam, sorry, John 😂 did well in this environment because he managed to organize his answer before he start speaking and answer it smoothly without misleading pause (so others won't interrupt him by mistake). Gwendolyn is quite the confident speaker and her downfall is that she has the clear idea of what she wants to say so she structure her sentences as she goes so she needs to pause in between. This kind of talking style, especially for other actors who do not have a clear answer to the questions, gives the moderator or other panel mates to insert (unfortunately interrupt) jokes and comments.

There were plenty of "for the whole panel" questions where she could have chimed in at any time, or even chimed in on questions for other people like some of the others were doing. Varys and Arya had a lot of comments. Hannah is a little more introverted I guess. Besides her character doesn't or hasn't really had a whole lot going on, she just follows Sam around.
The first question was for Sam and Gilly but he didn't stop talking and when he did they went on to the next question.
The moderator should make sure that she gets at least one question!

Why do people ask so many awful questions, that are so vague and open ended that the actors can't give a convincing answer. Sophie Turner, Natalie Dormer, Conleth Hill and Gwendoline Christie are the only ones who kept the panel non-awkward.

basboosa Even if the result is the same in the books, D and D have done everything they could to belittle Stannis and make him less capable and more in the thrall of Melisandre. He's shit at fighting, never shows any understanding of his duties as a King and dies for his ambition. All of which severely damage his character.
basboosa basically what JMWriter and Stig said. And maybe he will fail, but I refuse to believe that's the way its going to go until the 6th book comes out.
basboosa But in a totally different way. in the books he doesn't do most of the stuff he does in the show and it is still in the air if he is really going to burn shireen (it wouldn't be the first time d&d mishandled the events of the series to whitewash their favourites and ruin the ones they dislike). Even if he goes in a dark path, the way and the reasons would be totally different than the bullshit of the show, and therefore making a different character and storyline, one more complex, understable and logical to martin's idea of him (a righeous man according to the author).
ETA: the fact that both versions of a character aren't in their best moments doesn't allow them to just make him do any horrible things for shocking value, thinking that it makes no difference from the books version, as he is in a "downward spiral". that shows that they didn't understand a shit about how martin's universe works.

Am I the only one who actually LIKED this year's panel? I mean besides the audience's stupid af questions, it was nice to see some new faces, like Conleth and Alfie (two eunuchs in the village WHOOP!)
These three questions made me cringe.
1) The guy's question for Sophie about Sansa's rape scene and how it weakened a strengthening character.
How do people NOT expect characters undergoing a strengthening, upward arc to either suffer setbacks or be destroyed (killed) entirely? What show/book are you reading that makes you see this type of development as 'out of character' for the series? It astonishes me that the community reacted as though undermining a character's upward arc was out of place or didn't fit into the story.
2) The women's questions about rape culture and patriarchy.
This a mythical medieval patriarchal society. I'd say the show is doing a fantastic job portraying what it would be like to live in such a society for both men and women. Stop injecting modern real-world commentary into a fictional fantasy series and just enjoy the story for what it is, a fictional fantasy series.
3) The questions about Jon Snow's death that not so slyly promoted the fan theory that just won't go away.
Again, what series are people watching/reading for them to think it's unfathomable for a main character with seemingly long-term plot implications to be killed off at what feels a very premature moment? Killing him (for good) in spite of his 'plot armor' is exactly the type of thing GRRM has proven he's willing to do. Did you guys miss the times this happened to the characters we loved?
Agreed on all points. Another good cringe moment is at 40:40 he completely loses the ability to sentence.
Also yea can't stand people asking for spoilers, such a waste of a question, just wait for S6/TWOW and be surprised the story is intended.

Julian Giovinco Really refreshing to finally find someone that shares these perspectives (the Q&A obviously isn't the first time these cringeworthy topics have come up). Yeah, 40:40 was another tough one, but I just felt bad for the guy, whereas the other 3 were genuinely annoying to listen to.
Regarding the fate of JS, I also would not be surprised if he came back, but I can't understand people who claim there's no possible chance he's actually dead. While it would def make some speculative plots hard to pick back up, shouldn't we all know by now that literally any character and/or plotline can be killed off and that our expectations for a character story can always be subverted?
Landeezel I agree but I don't think Jon Snow is dead or if he is he is still going to be in the show one way or another. The reason I think this is simple; Kit Harrington (the actor) announced that Jon Snow was defiantly dead and I doubt the show runners would let him do this unless the purpose was to mislead us and then SURPRISE Jon Snow is actually alive. But, I am trying not to get my hopes up...I still hope for the return of Syrio Forrel and that hasn't happened (very sad face) Everything else though I agree on and well put.
Landeezel I think a big problem with Sansa's storyline was that the characters behaved in ways which didn't make sense. Sansa has no reason to agree to the match with Ramsay, has no plan to deal with him and just runs away at the end. The boltons don't get much out of the wedding and neither does LF. So it happened because the plot needed it to happen rather than making sense internally.

magmaster100 i know. pretty much everyone on the panel looked like they didn't wanna be there. they can't answer questions when they haven't even got the scripts yet like how many times do they have to say that? they should just say at the beginning, 'don't ask us about next season.' and especially after those first few episodes leaked, they'll try to keep it more secret.
Jessica Anthony well i think that part of the reason kit didnt come is because he would be spammed with those questions and they always bring dead characters and dan and the actor who plays melisandre is working on a movie with him so i dont think he didnt show up because he is filming the movie because she wouldve been there

When I hear some of these questions, my mind goes back to William Shatner saying "Get a life!" to the people at the Star Trek conventions

Omg this is the most cringeworthy panel i've ever seen. The fans Q & A literally had zero good questions and the actors kinda just blew off every question with no answer and acted as if they didn't wanna be there. And every time someone said "This question is for all of you" like 1 or 2 people answered it and they moved on.
Also listening to Sophie try and explain why Sansa reverted back to a victim with the rape scene was pretty cringeworthy as well, you could tell she had no idea what to say. I guess she along with the writers didn't have a clue as to why they just reverted Sansa back to a helpless victim.

SAMCRO Tbh, I think this panel was very amusing. And I wouldn't describe it as cringeworthy since there are plenty of panels which were really cringeworthy. Also you cannot expect them all to answer a question just because the one who asked wanted everyone to answer.

This show is quite literally the biggest thing on TV right now, at least in the fantasy genre. So it's saddening to see how the Comic Con crew didn't handle this event properly. And that's me being nice about it. A lot more could and should be said about their incompetence in managing and running this panel session. Rant over.

Just goes to show that everyone only focuses on the big foreground characters and forget about the ones in the background who are just as important with the actors being just as talented. Shame really. :(

***** GOT "Strong Female Characters" are always the same: tomboy warrior hating womanhood and girly things, and Cunning Bitches involved in catfights over men. GOT has failed to represent Martin's strong female characters giving us the Hollywood idea about how Strong Female Characters should be.
They even improve Shae and Talisa/Jeyne giving us the Action Girl so the Cool Hero can have a Cool Girlfriend, because why the Cool Hero loves some common girl?

IDK They represented Catelyn fairly well I feel, and Cersei is slightly less cartoon villan-y than she is in the books.
But I do agree, they've taken away some of the realness of some of the characters to try to make them "cooler", when that's not really the point of why Martin does most of the things he does.

Loomx5 However, they add deep and agenda to Martin flat side character's, like Tywin or Roose Bolton. Show!Tywin or Roose!Bolton was better than Book!Tywin or Book!Roose (sorry, George!). Since they have managed to create good (male) characters or even original characters, I don't know what problem they have with the females.
PS: Thought I like Show!Cersei (named Carol in the Cultural Vacuum XD), I really wanted to watch the valonqar and the set-on-fire-tower-of-the-hand scenes LOLL

I'll agree Show!Tywin is better, but I think book!Roose is. His harrenhall scenes add depth to the character sorely lacking. And I feel in both cases the actors carry the hell out of their characters, rather than any specific changes to the writing. If anyone other than Michael McElhatton or Charles Dance played them they've be an awful lot worse.
I think we'll get the valonqar death scene, they've just removed the part from the prophecy which is good IMO as it didn't really line up with the way Cersei had acted pre PoV/AFFC, and seemd like a lazy getout clause to make her go insane.
And yeah that Tower of the Hand scene would have been incredible, but maybe we can still get that. Maybe when/If Kevan gets killed then she goes completely insane? Who knows.
Oh god I am preparing for awkward questions...better mentally prepare.

Joffrey was a vindictive, monster of a human being, but he was also a complete dumbass. He could be cruel, but his manner of torture are pretty basic. Having people killed, showing off corpses, threatening people, or just hitting them. Ramsey was just as sociopathic, but he was creative. Jofferey would have one of his knights punch you in the face and call you a traitor. Ramsey slowly peels away the layers of your sanity till your nothing but a dog who fears the punishment of your master.
