Community needs to be more ready when it comes to calamities specially floods. It is a natural calamity that invades our lives in the most miserable ways. As a student, doing or cleaning in our own can be very helpful and effective to prevent any cases that leads us to hazards including floods and other natural calamities. Keeping our community clean, by providing a more natural way like recycling waste and also tree planting, responsibility is a must and need to always be responsible in many cases ahead.

Preventing floods entirely is challenging, but mitigation strategies include improving drainage systems, managing land use to avoid building in flood-prone areas, constructing flood barriers and levees, preserving natural floodplains, and implementing early warning systems.

It is important to plant more trees po because they are capable of absorbing excess water caused by heavy rains. In addition, trees also reduce landslide risk.

It's really disheartening to see our beloved Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte flooded like this. It's true that heavy rainfall can be a contributing factor, but I can't help but think about the importance of having effective drainage systems and maintaining them properly. I strongly believe that addressing the garbage issue is crucial as well. Clogged canals and improper waste management can worsen the flooding. Let's all be more mindful of our surroundings and dispose of our waste responsibly. Together, we can make a difference and ensure a safer and flood-free future for our beloved community.

In my observation about this video is. The impact of a disaster is not felt evenly across communities. The human pain of natural disasters is profound, but already-vulnerable or marginalized individuals often suffer the most. People affected by natural disasters often lose family members, homes, land and property. So I have 6 measures to prevent a flood. 1.Create a 'sponge city . 2. Green roofs/rooftop gardens. 3. Create flood plains and overflow areas for rivers 4. Separating rainwater from the sewer system
    5. Install water infiltration and attenuation systems. 6. Keep the sewer system clean, so it can do its job.

We can see in the video that people does not know the main reason of this flood. The best way is to prevent the Climate Change to continue affecting our community. For me the best way to prevent or to avoid this situation in our community is to apply all the possible way or all the best way to stop this. First we need to segregate all the waste in every house, second we need to make an event that apply the Four Waste Management which are the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Recover, third we need to clean all the drains to lessen or prevent the floods, fourth we need to plant more trees in our community or in that community and fifth or the last is to be active in rescuing or to have a person who is active to report the situations.

Flashfloods is a natural calamity that no one predicts when it occur. As a student, the one thing that I will advise them, not only to those who are experiencing that event, but to each and every one of us, is that we must be responsible for our garbage, that we must properly segregate it, and we must also have sufficient knowledge of what we will do if disaster strikes in our area in order to save ourselves and our families.

For me as a student to avoid that flood in any areas especially in that area all people must be participating in proper waste segration , must have drainage where in a water that stock and fulling is directly go to the river because if we didn't segrate our waste and don't have drainage we can't avoid flood.

On my observation on this video ,the main reason why there place are flooding it is because of luck of drainage canal especially of the lower level of places , some the houses are there are concrete, and lastly there place are not clean ,many cellophane that i see on the video and this is the one of the reason that can cause of flood. To prevent this sitwation first you must plant more trees to absorb quickly the excess of the water, especially in the lower level of places, the second one are you must build more drainage to flow properly the water , the third one you must monitor the main drainage canal to give the warning to the citizen, and lastly you must dicipline your self that dont throw your garbage in anyplaces, throw your garbge in the proper place and clean your place to prevent this sitwasyon and they never be happened again that's all ☺️

For me, there are three possible ways to prevent the flood in that community. (1) Do not throw trash anywhere; because trashes can block the drains which can cause the flood. (2) Installation of drains; drains can help lessen the flood which it can divert floodwaters to other bodies of water. (3) Plant more trees; trees can absorb the rainwater and help reduce the flood. Trees can also help stop climate change, which is the number one cause of changes in rainfall or storms.

As what I have observed in this video, many people have been affected by the flood. It is important to be aware of what may be the cause of the flood in their community. They should learn to clean the canal areas or even improve the drainage so they are able to drain the water. They should learn to be responsible for their garbage and throw it away in the proper area.

Heavy rains and drainage clogging are the most straightforward explanations for the flooding. As far as I can tell, the infrastructure in that area is mostly made of concrete and other impervious materials. There is no ground for water to sink into when an urban drainage basin is composed of concrete. As a result, when such drainage basins fill up, low-lying areas will be flooded. Also, if you live near a river and areas upstream experience heavy rains, it could result in a serious overflow where you live. The best solution is to improve your yard topography. The general orientation of your landscape should naturally drive water away from your home. A modest slope away from your house should be present on your lawn.In that way, rain water will flow naturally away from your home. If you realize that your drainage problems could be solved by adjusting your yard topography, consider some reshaping. Make the slope small but regular because a depression may cause water to accumulate.

One of the natural causes of flash floods has been monsoon rainfall and a series of storms. And, as I saw in the video, these natural factors are one of the causes of flash floods. However, as I noticed, several unnatural factors played a role in why the flash floods occurred. There might be inadequate or obstructed drainage as well as a lack of a water reservoir. These are the most typical causes of flash floods in metropolitan settings. Flash floods are caused by insufficient or clogged drainage and a lack of a water reservoir because if water accumulates due to heavy precipitation where drains are lacking or their discharge capacity is exceeded, flooding may occur due to water overtopping dikes, causing widespread flood damage over lowlands. What the people there might do to avoid these calamities from occurring is to work with the local governments to develop solutions to the major causes of flash floods, since I am confident the LGUs have the necessary expertise and equipment. Furthermore, what the LGUs may do to assist the people in resolving the situation is primarily to educate them via seminars or symposiums, so that the locals know how to resolve and respond if similar tragedies arise.

To prevent flooding, it's essential to manage water flow effectively. This can be achieved through measures such as constructing and maintaining proper drainage systems, including ditches, culverts, and storm drains. Additionally, preserving natural water retention areas like wetlands and forests helps absorb excess water and reduce the risk of flooding. Lastly, land-use planning and zoning regulations can help prevent development in flood-prone areas, minimizing the impact of flooding on communities and infrastructure.

Frankly, this happened as reflected because of what human activities. They are unconscious about protecting and preserving the mother earth. From carbon emission because of power and fuel plants, smoke from vehicles and burning plastics that would cause greenhouse effect, as a result, global warming emerged. As global warming is happening, too much water will be evaporated that would cause to heavy rains. These are the factors also, lack of irrigation for water drainage; soil erosion that would higher up the river base that can cause to overflow the flood easily; and cutting of trees. Maybe, these are factors that floods happened for the first time. My recommendation to lighten up this situation, check the area if there is a cause of overflowing, there should be checking of irrigation for water drainage, plant more trees and the last is to conduct symposium to educate about irrigation, proper disposal of garbage and to instill them about loving the mother earth.

I've observed that they experienced the unexpected flood brought by maybe in the coastal & prone areas mostly but for me to take care for our environment is the best way to prevent flash floods & other disasters that can relate to climate change. It’s time to rethink the way we plan and prepare for flooding. Nature-based solutions such as reconnecting floodplains that can protect coastal communities during storms can help improve water quality, provide prime wildlife habitat, enhance recreational opportunities, and produce related economic and social benefits. Modernize policies. We should seek policies that provide incentives for communities to reduce flood risk and guide development away from risky areas. Afterwards, the society and the economy of any country suffer in many ways after a flood with the loss of lives, vegetation, properties and infrastructure. In order to have a solution on this, the government will have to spend the country to look for international assistance to supply food and materials to clean and rebuild its infrastructure. While some countries will support voluntarily, putting the assisted country in debt and at an economic loss. As you/we the youth citizens in this generation gather to focus on our climate crisis, I hope that we will make the decisions priorities to protect our planet now and forever.

As a student observing mysterious flooding, it's plausible that a lack of climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts could be contributing factors. Perhaps increased rainfall or changing weather patterns, exacerbated by global warming, overwhelmed outdated drainage systems. Without effective measures in place, such events may become more frequent and severe, highlighting the need for proactive environmental policies and community resilience initiatives to address these uncertain and concerning phenomena.

The flooding in St. Tomas occurred due to issues with the drainage system. I believe the drainage was blocked with a lot of waste, preventing water from flowing properly, which led to the flood. To avoid such situations in the future, we should ensure our drainage systems are clean and we should also dispose of our waste correctly.

In the Philippines, floods occur due to a combination of factors such as heavy rainfall from tropical storms and monsoons, deforestation leading to soil erosion, poor urban planning, inadequate drainage systems. Climate change has also exacerbated flooding events in the Philippines.

To prevent this kind of disaster, we should be attentive and also be ready to evacuate and we should follow the ordinance of our local authorities.Additionally to prevent this kind of disaster we need to replant, and also be responsible to our garbage/waste. Garbage can contribute to flooding for several reasons. When drainage systems become clogged with litter and debris, water cannot flow freely, leading to increased risk of flooding during heavy rainfall. Additionally, improperly disposed garbage can block waterways and exacerbate flooding by preventing natural drainage. Addressing waste management issues, promoting proper garbage disposal practices, and implementing effective drainage systems are essential for mitigating the impact of garbage on flooding.

In the case of Sto. Tomas, the flood disaster likely brought about immense sadness and challenges for the local resident.Flood is one of the most dangerous natural disasters.
we cannot prevent natural causes like rain and the melting of glaciers. However, we can stop the manmade causes like breaking of dams, poor drainage system, installing warning systems and more.Governments must take up certain measures to prevent floods. We can install flood warning systems. Make people aware of what to do in times of flood. Moreover, we can also build a proper drainage system that will ensure no waterlogging. And also we should take responsibility to throw a proper garbage.

The most common kind of natural disasters are floods, which happen when a water overflow submerges normally dry land. Heavy rains, quick snowmelt, storm surges from tropical cyclones, or tsunamis in coastal areas are frequently the cause of floods. In addition, Flooding usually happens when heavy rain falls quickly after a period of time when it's not too hot, or when a river or stream overflows its banks due to an ice or debris jam.

It's hard to see a situation like this, especially in your own place and you don't expect it to happen, We should really be prepared for any calamities that come even if we don't expect them, let's make it a habit to plant trees, and being disciplined in throwing away our garbage because what we do to nature will really come back to us. We should also allocate space for our waterways to make it easier for them to subside, especially if the rain is heavy and lasts for a long time.

Must acquire that waterways are not blocked. Also, drainage systems must be covered and kept free from objects that chock them. This way, water can quickly run through if it rains and minimizes any chance of town flooding. Drainage systems should also be covered to prevent litter from getting into them.

When there's a flood in a place that can't be explained , there could be various reasons behind it. It might be flooding from nearby rivers or streams, damage to drainage systems, or even human-induced factors like illegal dumping of garbage in the canals. It's important to assess local conditions and flood prevention systems to understand how to address and prevent such incidents in the future.

there are lot of reasons behind this occurrence. We can't exactly say from apart. It involves holistic views to tell the reason behind it.
With this rare calamity (in this specific area) surely impacted the lives of people living in this area. But it's not necessarily means they not paying attention because it's rarely to occur flood in the said community. Regarding with that, they should start looking where the flood came from and create mitigation strategies in case there will be next flood occurrence.
