As Trump prepares to return to the White House, his foreign policy picks are already showing just how radically his presidency could reshape geopolitics. New York Times Correspondent David Sanger joins the show to discuss just what a Trump 2.0 foreign policy could look like for some of the key geopolitical flashpoints today. From the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East to the increasingly strained US-China relationship, the only thing we can say for sure is that the Trump sequel will look far different from the original.
And that uncertainty, Sanger tells Bremmer, is why Trump won the election. "If you voted for Donald Trump in the 2024 election, it was probably with a thought that these institutions need to be blown up." One of the biggest questions, however, is just how Trump will approach the Ukraine war, and if he'll follow through on his campaign pledge to end the conflict in "24 hours." "Trump would love to come in as the man who ended the Ukraine war" Sanger says, "But the only way I can imagine in my limited way for how you do that in 24 hours is you have a call of Vladimir Putin and you say, Vlad, what do you need?"

Thank you for calling it a trainwreck!
Good segment. Interesting times ahead. The aim is obviously very different politics then before (Biden).
Love how you guys just brushed over and blew off Taiwan as good as gone. NOT. Or if you prefer it phrased as a question: Can you spend more time and provide deeper analysis Trump’s impact not just on China and Taiwan but the entire IndoPac region??
This feels like a Brexit. The UK shouldn’t have done it. And they ended up doing it

Pray for our future.
At Trump LA, he told the Hospitality Manager to fire all the female waiters who were not young and cute. “Our members only want to look at beautiful women.” She refused. He then had them reassigned to work out of view and cut their pay and tips illegally, got caught and got sued by the Dept of Industrial Relations. Cost him
+$400,000 PLUS legal fees to get out of that jam. PLUS, the course lied about the “$5MM in charity contributions”, which were NEVER made. Read about this in “Commander in Cheat” by Rick Reilly. Is that his idea of the “American Dream”? Not mine.
And here we are wondering
How the American empire will fall
NOT on th eTRUMP's watch 🙂
It's an exciting time to be alive, because soon we're all going to be dead.
'What you need, Vlad?'
'You, stepping out of NATO'
'Done!' 🤣😂
Then proceeds to finish Ukraine then invade Poland
@@everythingisfine9988 That's a bit too much for Russian calibre, they don't like progressive population.
I don't know about invading Poland. He might do some Sabre rattling to get the United States to refuse its NATO commitment.

Congratulations for your excellent video on Trumps foreign policy, especially on Ukrainian-Russia war, and Israel-Palestinian people too.!!
I’m never as persuaded when someone uniformly rejects every stance raised. A hack.
these two geezers are what the aerican [eople voted against. pure state propaganda
tired talking points
Thanks random person on TH-cam! Idk where we’d be in society without your bot style username, random comments, and misspelling within the comments! Whew glad we have a watch dog like you around holding up the standard for the “aerican [eople”

@@BrandyHeng007so Americans should have tried Biden 2.0? The ones that forced Ukraine into war in the first place? America is on russias border not the other way around, don’t you think Americans would demand a buffer?

These should be longer, at least a solid 30 min. There only 15 min of the interview section

Arrogance is stunning for these two.
Unprovoked invasion?
NATO expansion and the 2014 coup caused the invasion
Unprovoked? That's doing a LOT or work. Mearsheimer makes a compelling argument that this is a bad outcome but not unexpected and not unprovoked.
It certainly wasn’t unprovoked. We knew what we were doing tip toeing around letting them intro our alliance. They told us years ago this would happen. And we did it anyway and basically begged them to invade. Doesn’t justify russias reaction but I get it.
biden was the one who gave the green light to the overthrow of ukr govt in 2014 the began the cascade. btw the trigger point for the invasion was the massing of the azov brigades on donbas border with advanced arms from usa
Ian. Suppose Iran goes nuclear. Then what? Israel? USA?
No need to call Putin. Putin stated his conditions for even starting negotiations on the basis of Istanbul quite clearly. 1. Full Ukrainian withdrawal from the regions that are included in Russian constitution; 2. Recognition and acceptance from Ukraine that these regions are Russian; 3. Acceptance of Ukraine's neutral status. Istanbul also included restrictions on Ukrainian army armaments and a number of personnel. Russians categorically rejected any freeze of the conflict Korea-style. These conditions can get only tougher by the time. Even Trump wouldn't be able to accept these conditions explicitly without a coup attempt against him, but he could do it implicitly by cutting Ukraine's sustenance and turning the page.
That's a nonsensical position.
@@leifiseland1218agreed, the poster of the comment is a russian shill who has been spreading russian lies for months.
Lol took a lot of time to type this up just for no one to read your comment. Sorry my guy
Sounds like you’re planting roots so you can start blaming him for everything that’s inevitable at this point thanks to the last 4 years.
Ian, you're throwing your stellar reputation in the toilet interviewing ultra-partisan hacks like this guy. Please, for the love of god, don't!
He's partisan, but hardly a hack. Emotional thinking leads to weird views.
Yeah I missed the part of this interview that was hacky
Ian only has a stellar reputation IF YOU are partisan and don’t know the facts.
Wonder what was possible for this guy back in 2015?
What Trump can give will be much more than all talk no action armchair genius experts can provide
I'm here for the entertaining and slick graphics in the intro. Works well with my almost non-existent attention span. The end of the world as we know it sucks, but at least it looks cool.
President Trump’s cabinet selection reflects that he is coming as not only as a savior for America but also as a savior of the world.
Is he Puppet or ...?
The guys often speak what is different from the videos we see online. That Iranian rockets are not getting into Israel? Who is fooling who?
👌
Why do you call Netanyahu by his first name, yet ncname. Do you call Biden Joe? Olaf Scholz Olaf? Starmer Keir? It's really condescending and inappropriate.
Ian you need to find someone more objective, this person is nitpicking at everything. Unless you want to be a Liberal/NeoCon echo chamber, you’ll continue to be wrong on Ukraine
Ian is just a DNC month piece at core.
This democrats thing why they mix up ...
😂 it takes a strong man to surrender in a war on day one! Ronald reagan, john f kennedy. All would surrender to Ronald Reagan, John F. Kennedy. All would surrender to Russia on their 1st day in office😊
The pronunciation of Nattinyahu is kinda annoying.
Trump needs absolute loyalty from his cabinet. He fears his VP will join with Trump's cabinet and use the 25th Amendment against Trump.
Ian, I like your videos. However, this is very one sided. It should be a balanced view.
😂😂😂 USA surrender to RUSSIA 😂😂😂 What time line is this😅 your heros quit
This might be bad for the world, but it must be even more interesting for the americans themself. Millions of them will feel this election directly.
Trump is the new normal.
Get used to it.😊

This guy fails to realize that Ukraine’s loosing and the longer this goes on the more they will loose. They cannot beat Russia, never could.
Blah blah blah 😅
Ian - for such an intelligent approach to geopolitics i was suprised to hear you say Putin's invasion of Ukraine was "unprovoked" . We all know that in 1990 Russia was given assurances by world leaders that with the re-unification of Germany there would be no expansion of NATO and that "NATO would not move 1inch eastward" The USA seems to have reneged on that commitment and since then NATO has expanded serveral times. Russia was to economically weak and could'nt do much about it other than voice its concerns.
Is it possible that Ukraine being offered entry to NATO was the straw the straw that broke the camels back?
