I watched all your Honda 400 videos in the last two days, can´t wait to see the next onw, amazing job! I also really enjoy the style of your videos. Keep on going. Best regards from Germany.
I just saw all of ur Honda400 caferacer videos from morning 8.00am to 2.30pm all of them are super, i like it very much thanks for sharing all of ur ideas through youtube. waiting for next update.......
the rubber flanges on the coupler, WILL block the air holes on the carb intake face. the frown and hole. those block, your needles will hang. flow will be wrong thru carb.
Hello from Newfoundland, I've enjoyed all the videos so far. Thank Cafe Racer Garages shout out... Who I found via Classic Octanes shout out, funny how that works out.
I have a 1981 CM400C that the previous owner installed some pod filters and my mechanic can't get the carb tuned. He's recommending to rejet the carbs. I don't know anything about this so I'll probably have a mechanic do the rejet & tune, but can you tell me what rejetting kit you used for yours since it looks like you have the same engine/carb/pod filters as I do?
I see most of these bikes with the pods. Why not just use a bell shaped velocity stack alone with a screen as a filter? I like that look much better. I see it on some bikes. Is there a reason it would not work here? Thanks.
I have a similar build with a cm400e. I also have an in-line fuel filter, and it is a very tight fit between the two small bits of fuel tubing. How did you manage yours?
Working on the same bike - I have the stacks on - I did the sigmajet kit - and put the 127.5 big jets in and the smaller are 80s - I have the pod filter and extensions - bike starts and runs great but then once it gets warm - it will eventually sputter and die - any other carb adjustments needed after this video?
Bike Sounds awesome 😎. cool video transitions. Noooooooo don’t miss a few weeks posting, you are going so well. A Quick tip from me brother, Try not to miss posting a video each week even if you post a short video with you talking about your channel or something. TH-cam is very complex as you probably already know and the algorithm favours those who post regularly. Shoot a video to educate your subscribers on something about Cafe Racers or even talk about what your up to and why you won’t be in the garage Vlog style :) your great on camera and editing so keep the vids coming
Cafe Racer Garage thanks for taking the time to send this! I will heed this advise and post accordingly! I’m actually off to Costa Rica for a bit and will be filming some motorized adventures while there....
what did you do to tune the carbs? i have a 1981 Honda CM400T that i am rebuilding and put the same air filters on my carbs. and the bike ran to lean. now the bike is running a little better but still idled really low so i adjusted the throttle and now its idling around 3,000 rpm. i dont know what to do and i really want to get this bike running right.
Good job as usual!!!! Nice work on the carbs! I think I would change the exhaust though. Maybe like the megaphone type??? Really enjoying the build!!!!
You have to do one side at a time, just listen for slight changes, give little blips on the throttle to see if the idle settles as well. The mixture screws don't necessarily have to end up with the same settings
Juan Valdeazy the vacuum sync is separate from the mixture settings. It gets the carbs close in terms of how much air they’re pulling (separate from the mixture). If they are very different it can cause some running problems also. Check out common-motors channel. They have a pretty cheap solution for vacuum gauges using some aquarium bits.
@@Beachmangarage thanks again! Im Working on 81 cm400. Got it for 300 bucks. Couldn't get it to run. Took the carb apart and it was FILLED WITH ORANGE GUNK! Cleaned it out and the jets and brought it back to life. Never dealt with a multiple carb system before.
So what did you do to solve the problem? Did you take the original carbs off and changed with the order one? I got the same engine as yours, mine is 1985 cb450sc. Bike idle just fine, but when I rev up, it is like running lean as the bike want to die.
Combustion Junction I have solved the problem. I put 140 main jets and shim the needles, now it runs perfectly. I learn a lot of information to build my own bike from your video, thank you! Waiting for some new projects from your channel. 👍👍
Awesome! It's nice when it does what it should :) Glad I could help. I have the CB360 in the garage and it's a disaster! New stuff coming very soon. Cheers!
I'm working on a 1979 CB400TII. Your channel is very helpful!!! Thanks!

Ludwig thanks my friend! Always nice to hear it. New video coming today or tomorrow!
Like the stack idea. Great job. Thanks for the mention on the chart.
Thanks! And thanks again for the chart. I think I lost way too much sleep over the f'ing year of that engine :)
I def need to do this vinyl shim piece. My bike runs decent at low, but the mid to high throttle is lacking a bit.

First binge watcher! Excellent! Loads more to come....

great call on the pipe coupler! Beats melting a 2" PVC pipe. Hopefully my local ACE or Home Depot has them
Do you remember what jet sizes you ended up using?

Robert Goodyear hey back! My dad was from Fogo and I grew up in St. John’s. Thanks for reaching out.!
How is the bike running now and what was the final set up and jet size

What would charge me to supply all the pieces except the pod filters ?
On those cb carbs on this bike, What way is rich n lean on the pilot screw

what jets did you end up going with??
Hey any chance you could do a video on how to install the throttle cable, and all the fuel hoses... I cant find anything on how to do it, thanks

I can't wait to see you out on the road with this!
Paula Ross that makes 2 of us!
What pod filters are those? I'm working on restoring a cb400sf and want to go with a different intake setup.
Amazon cheap ones. 50mm ID I think. I have the same ones.

the one on the L E F T is found on a 1980 cm400... have one on my bench @ work m8.

Wayne Martinez cheers mate! Really glad I had a positive result. Yeah if I had my time back I probably would’ve picked a different muffler as well.
hi what was the stock and final jetting you went with. and how many terns out on the air screw.
When adjusting the mixture, how do you do it with 2 carbs? Do they have to have the same mixture?
You have to do one side at a time, just listen for slight changes, give little blips on the throttle to see if the idle settles as well. The mixture screws don't necessarily have to end up with the same settings
@@Beachmangarage thank you. I was thinking I had to sync them with vacuum gauges.

Juan Valdeazy nice! It’s crazy what some people will pour in there to try to make it work!
your manifolds are wrong, one is upside down and one is right side up. you can tell @13:29
Any test drive footage?
Spoken Wright as soon as weather permits :)

Yes, I used the carbs from the 400 engine with the largest jets from the kit.

Nice! Can’t wait to see the cb360 seri building, because my next project is the cb360 too. So excited!
Does anyone know where I can get a jet kit for a 1981 cm400e?
2 fast moto but make sure your jets match up
Hey who did you source the carb kit from? I have a 400t with the same issues! Yours is looking and sounding great!
sean kerwin if memory serves it was sigma jet kits. You give them all your specs (aftermarket mufflers etc) and they design a kit for you.
Combustion Junction awesome! Thanks for tip!
Sound of the engine was almost night and day after you swapped out the carbs
The difference was awesome. The bike just totally came to life. Thanks for watching!
I have a 1980 cb 400 t added pods and straight pipes with a small baffle it's running rich do you know of a kit or any advice what could do fix this
Aint this almost same as CB 400?
I mean the bike is almost same bike than cb 400
Not sure. Definitely different than my CB360
What jet sizes did you end up going with? And how many turns out on the air/fuel screw?
GIANTTTTTTTTTT
