"I can't remember if I fired, 5 or 6 football fields away." Lol. When you pulled the trigger, to release the excess air, it sounded just like a mortar being launched. Thanks for sharing. KC3UEE.

Great video! Looking forward to seeing how that works on future Hams In The Air projects!

Many components used in this launcher are drain type fittings, not rated for pressure applications. These have thin walls, shallow cement sockets and often have angles and other features which reduce their strength. A safe launcher should only use pressure rated fittings and pipe. Be safe and have fun.

You are correct...but we use the most thickest of PVC pipe and don't intend to put more than 30psi in it. I will not look to patent this pneumatic gun but it works great! Wear safety glasses!!!

Nice i would like to see how much drag the line adds to the height

right...TBD but I think it will be negligible. Plus I need to remember to push the button first on the reel so it lets the line out without snapping it :)

How does the air trigger open the sprinkler valve???

  • @bobkoskovics2530

I have an on off valve below so if the blow gun gets hit it won’t release the air more of a safety sometimes you need that

all this is great but what if you are unable to roll it back due to getting stuck in the tree badly? what do you do then??

    • @gotubeit11

good question....first that is why we use fishing string with a weighted projectile. If it gets snagged, you can easily cut the string the the weight will more than likely fall to the ground. It has worked for me anyway. The point is to over-shoot your target so the weight hits the ground on the other side.

Hello i from Holland can I use this cannon freely in the field or is it perhaps iligal after all

In the states, it is NOT considered a weapon. Use top rated materials… I can’t condone it or sell it. The parts are not rated for pressure but it works and tons of people are building them and using them.

Can you provided some links to your parts used to build this. Thanks

The trigger system is a Sprinkler valve - Orbit 57461 (1" female NPT both ends) typically found at Home Depot. Also referred to as 1" jar-top in-line sprinkler valve.
You can find various builds on the internet. I found a few different ones and combined a couple ideas into one.

Where can I find the plans for this?

    • @gotubeit11
      @gotubeit11  ปีที่แล้ว

Plans are on the internet....I combined a couple ideas and ran with it. Use the best rated PVC pipe because like many people are quick to point out, its really not rated for pressure so don't go cheap.

I believe the brand was Orbit (1" jar-top in-line) purchased at Home Depot
