Love this game! Production is top notch. The game can be adjusted to increase or decrease the complexity by choosing plants wisely and to include the sprout powers or not. The first game I always play with grow powers only. As far as the number of players, the game plays so quickly that I don't mind a game where I can't seem to keep a sprite on the board as I know I'll have another chance in 15-20min. The more players, the more chaotic it will be but maybe that is what you are looking for that game 😉. That is what makes it great as you can tailor it to your group's needs. Very versatile.
Thanks so much @Joshua!! Agreed that this game can really be tailored to your game group. Play as viscous or nice as you want with different plants. Play with newer or younger players using the training game. Thanks for playing!
We played at 5 and everyone in my group loved it, one wanted to get it as well. Played it at 2 and the other guy thought it would work better at more players. I think i liked it all! It is a take that game for sure, it is chaotic... and that never stopped big names like king of tokyo! And the production is gorgeous, the power variance will hopefully keep the game fresh. hoping I'll keep loving this one, but so far so good!
Had fun with this solo. Small footprint, lots of different tiles so the games feel different, easy to administer A.I. actions. However, I at least with the one game I played (and I'm pretty sure I played it correctly), I almost doubled the A.I. score on Extremely Hard mode. It might have just been the particular combination of five plant types made it easier for a human player, or maybe some actions need to be beefed up on the A.I. side, but if my experience is the norm, then I don't think it's currently difficult enough. Hard to tell if I'm an outlier because not a lot of people are talking about their solo experiences online with this game, that I've seen so far.
I think the chaos is fun. I don't love overly tactical games, because then I might as well play chess. I think people need to know that you must learn to balance the area control with increased player numbers. But also, don't spend too long on a turn. Let the game move and keep an eye on what's happening and try to balance things so that your move helps you and slows the apparent leader
for me its an easy to learn, hard to master game. There are so many little details to keep track of, in order to score high you really need a good overview and understanding of all the moving parts. The artwork and quality of the box and pieces is great.
Backed this on kickstarter and have played it a couple of times and I like it overall. My biggest complaint is the tiles are too small for all the sprites/gems that get placed on them. As for kids, use the optional simplified version(in the back of the rules). I do agree that a large number of players makes it more complicated and mean but I had no problem with three.
This isn't the Kickstarter edition, but is the Deluxe edition rather than the Retail edition. It would be less confusing if KTBG wasn't producing 3 different versions.
@@jokerES2 I hear you. We did this so that it was accessible to more people .The price difference is pretty high. And much of the feedback we've gotten is that people love our games, but they want to be able to play them without playing deluxe prices. Voila!
Picked this up at GenCon last August (didn’t realize it just now made it to retail) and I want to echo what Tom said about more than 2. We played this at 4 and it was such a slog to get through. We had a horrible time :( There are so many powers to remember that it was just a total mess.
I heard about this a while back, but didn't know anything about it except for the Audrey II on the cover. Thanks for the overview!
Thanks so much Tom and the DiceTower!

Backed it but haven't gotten it to the table yet for various reasons. It looks cool and I'm curious how it will play with our group.

Wow! Thanks so much Monster! We're so happy you're enjoying it at different player counts. We also hope you keep enjoying!!
@@helainacappel4990 give me even more plants than the kickstarter 10 and that can be arranged

Oh wow! Would love to know more about the plants that you played with Brian.
hello, i'm looking to this game as it come to retail in europe.
Have you played it more in solo ?
Any second opinion on that mode ?
Cheers

Glad to hear that you got it to the table and that you're playing at different player counts! Enjoy!
Can you please clearly state when you review a deluxe/kickstarter edition?
This looks like the version that is in hobby game stores.
It's not

Sorry to hear that. It is potentially better to play a few of the trainer games before you get right in there.
That shirt is OP!
indeed
Tom looks like a tasty cupcake here. 🤭
We played this at 3 players and ugh, this was horrendous unfortunately
