Just finished last rack and one of the commentator’s ( Carl boils)?, is “cheeky “? enough to say about Joey Tate, “he should buy a set of theseenglish balls”
I really hate that the US open isn't commentated by American's.. Not that I have anything against these guys.. Seem alright, But this is the US open not a European Tournament.. Americans should comment on American tournaments..
What a way to lose a match. Ok, we can talk about luck and so on, but the truth is that the young man made a few mistakes at some crucial moments, and that's why he lost. Some people might say that Shane not saying anything about the wrong ball is "bad sportsmanship", but again you remember this is the US Open and players should expect their opponent to take any and every chance they get. Besides, the way it turned out, I doubt that is a mistake he will repeat for the rest of his career. I doubt Joey will ever forget this match! If you're reading this Joey well done and hard luck, keep playing your game you've got a lot of talent and a lot of heart I expect that you will see great success in the future.
Tate shooting the 5 ball I blame directly on the self-important manufacturers of these balls and the weak-kneed tournament directors that have allowed a ball company to simply decide to change the traditional colours of the balls. If they want to go fruity that's one thing, but to make the the 5 ball purple when for my whole life that was the colour of the 4 ball is ridiculous. All this talk about the new braking rules but someone can just decide unilaterally, "oh, I think I'll switch around the balls," and no one says a word? If Pool wishes to elevate itself then demonstrate some self respect and tradition. PATHETIC, US OPEN FOLKS! Poor kid’s been playing with traditional colours all his life and you screwed it up. No one reading this can say it couldn't have happened to them under these conditions. Even the veteran commentators get confused and it’s difficult to see the differences in colour on TV. Sure it's the rules, but Shane would have entered the, All Time Sportsman Hall of Fame, had he said two words, "Wrong ball." To win on a technicality is not to win at all. SVB just dropped down a notch in my book. “No one would do that?” Not so fast, race fans. Let me remind everyone of the hotly contested 2022 Derby City Classic (maybe Big Foot Challenge, I forget) final between Gorst and Shaw. Shaw grabbed the cue ball while it was still careening toward the 5 ball instead of the object ball because he was having a tantrum. The rules are that this is a gross violation resulting in instant lose of game, and for very good reason. The ref blew the call. Gorst didn’t say a word but went on to beat Shaw with his cue stick. That’s sportsmanship that can’t be set down in the rules but is the underlying spirit of all sport. It made me ill to watch SVB sit there and let a talented young kid and potential future Mosconi Cup teammate make a mistake that will live with him for years. If there are Pool Gods they are not happy and SVB will not win his 6th Open this year. Am I the only one? Won’t be the first time.
I don't get why his dad, or someone in the crowd, didn't tell him he was lined up on the wrong ball. They are sitting like 10 feet from him he definitely would have heard
I watched this match without knowing who Joey Tate was. It turns out that his dad Randy and I used to play many, many matches in Bloomington, Il at Ride the Nine. Good to know that Randy and Joey are both still involved in pool. Best wishes for them both from an old friend EdTipton.
Professional tourney's are so boring. You have no drunk girl making the tables, trying to find a date. There isn't even any smoke in the air! AND if that wasn't enough your opponent is sitting in his own chair instead of standing right behind you and making claims that " YOU SUCK ". Professional tournaments............hummm...pretty boring!
seeing him drop the 5 ball out of turn was the most painful thing I've experienced watching pool online. OUCH! My sister and I shoot pool. Friendly pool but 5 dollar wager per game, and one time I did exact same thing. Shot for 5 with 4 on the table. She played possum and waited for the execution and as soon as it went in she yelled "FOUL!!! AHAHA" and waltzed up to the table. Worst sportsmanship in the universe runs thru her blood, what can you do, she's younger and needs every victory. It was a terrible moment, first my blunder and then her celebration.
Replaying so many shots (including breaks) is dopey. Nine ball should be call pocket; like every other pocket billiard game. The nine on the break shouldn't be a win. A slop shot on the nine ball and he calls it a 'golden break'. What a crock! It should have been spotted up. And on top of everything else, the color of the balls is all screwed up. Well, at least they weren't 'on the clock'.
I don't like the break template. The ref has to move balls just to remove it nearly every time. Plus on the break after Shane's 2nd game the announcers talk about how the template moved the cue.
He plays exactly like me but obviously better. Same style and everything it's pretty shocking. He's a lefty, same demeanor and pace, same eye over the cue which means he probably has a bad eye like me too.

Just finished last rack and one of the commentator’s
( Carl boils)?, is “cheeky “?
enough to say about Joey
Tate, “he should buy a set
of theseenglish balls”
No no no,how bout y’all buy a set of American balls
for to put on the U. S. Open
Shane is the MJ of pool. He only plays in the 4th quarter when it counts. 🎱
What come back! Insane!
Me desespero ver jugar a Tate casi en todos los tiros, taco arriba.
1:15:06 This is what we call "a classic rookie mistake"
I really hate that the US open isn't commentated by American's.. Not that I have anything against these guys.. Seem alright, But this is the US open not a European Tournament.. Americans should comment on American tournaments..
Why is there no shot clock in this game?
I agree with this
Tate was taught well.
Joey for Mosconi????
in a few years for sure
What would happen if somebody yelled "wrong ball" and then Joey shot the correct one?
regain kid you will get him next time
great play by this young man but flubbed his preparation for the 3 ball on the last rack...blessings to all
Yeah bit of an awkward spot on the two, but so much area for the cue ball where the 3 was easily pot-able
Its not how well you play when your up. Its how good you play when your down.
I don't get why his dad, or someone in the crowd, didn't tell him he was lined up on the wrong ball. They are sitting like 10 feet from him he definitely would have heard
probably not allowed
Shane wouldn't have heard it... but the ref might have.
To many adverts, still don’t know who won!
I watched this match without knowing who Joey Tate was. It turns out that his dad Randy and I used to play many, many matches in Bloomington, Il at Ride the Nine. Good to know that Randy and Joey are both still involved in pool. Best wishes for them both from an old friend EdTipton.
Experience wins.
Oops tilt! Damn that grape ball!
Shane van is the best
44:05 could have sliced the 2 up to the 1-7 and given Shane ball in hand
I once knew a guy who got his head cracked with the PURPLE 4 ball. From that day forward his name became 4 ball.
4 ball should always be PURPLE
If you go 9/7 with Van Boening You got game.
he was confused between the numbers or colors, but he is considered to be the winner of this game.....
No, no he's not considered to be the winner... he lost. He did however win a valuable lesson lol
@@davidrodriguez7627 ok
Professional tourney's are so boring. You have no drunk girl making the tables, trying to find a date. There isn't even any smoke in the air! AND if that wasn't enough your opponent is sitting in his own chair instead of standing right behind you and making claims that " YOU SUCK ". Professional tournaments............hummm...pretty boring!
devastating moment @ 1:15:22
seeing him drop the 5 ball out of turn was the most painful thing I've experienced watching pool online.
Watch SVB’s elbow @23:02. 😦
It's good for easy racking, especially on felts that can't keep the ball in place.
1:15:16 watching his family in the background is a bit tough
Great match
Fuckin shane dude.perfect player
He plays exactly like me but obviously better. Same style and everything it's pretty shocking. He's a lefty, same demeanor and pace, same eye over the cue which means he probably has a bad eye like me too.
Efern “Bata” Reyes is the greatest of all time.
Nevermind me just jumpin in casually at 1:15:14 having a good laugh.
Tate has a lot of potential, he was about to beat SVB that is a achievement on its own
No it aint. Ive beat SVB plenty of times
In your dreams
You call your dick SVB?
Keep it up kid.
1:02:21 the girl in the background is bad luck for this rookie, she's back there stressing in a couple shots he missed on that pocket. lol
That kid beat himself.
