- Keeping aquarium piranhas is a serious thing. These fish need a large tank. I’m talking 125 gallons and up. The tank setup is what most people screw up with keeping aquarium piranhas. The more you can get in a tank the better. These fish thrive in large groups.

yeah that is cool to see them in there with the caribe piranhas. usually the two don't mix. But when their numbers are even they generally get along great. Nice setup. Glad to hear they are in a happy home! 😊
I have kept them for almost 20 years! U are right they do get boring ASF but I also agree with you I have to raise them from small dime size babies and keep the light on with no decor... A 3d background or a painted background with river rocks was my best aquarium.. I had 12 in a 125 gallon I raised them to about 10 inches a piece.. I actually had to many and I got rid of them.. my next set up will definitely only be about 4 or 5 because once they get that big they do keep moving and don't just sit there because it's no where to hide and they seem afraid of each other to a sense... They just were too big for the aquarium in my opinion...
I fee the same way about these fish. Awesome to see someone else with these fish. It's almost like someone liking a pit bull just for the looks but really don't know anything else about any other breeds. Very shallow.

Keeping them with cariba is okay, but I dunno about those serrasalmus. Wonder how that communal attempt went?
Glad you gave them up because your setup for them was HORRIBLE. Too many fish in that cramped little tank. They were banging themselves up in there. They need a long tank with drift wood and tall plants. And open water. Also, you tank was filthy and the color on the fish was sad. And you think they’re boring. Not cool you treated them badly n
He treated them badly and got boring results. He’s was right about one thing. His fish weren’t thriving, they were barely surviving. Great new home !!!

Michael Dougherty A lot of people say it is, I’m content with my 6 foot tank with an Oscar, Jack Dempsey, Red Devil, Convicts, and a Blood Parrot

cool vid, but i think you should be more specific on the names of piranha. Some people that want to get into piranha keeping and have no clue about them, imo wil find this video a bit misleading. example ; its not a wise decision to advise someone to keep a rhombeus or any solitary piranha together....

If you are interested more aggressive piranha species would be Caribe,Piraya,Elongatus,Manueli and Iirritans.
They have a bad rep but apparently they don't go for you unless you are bleeding.

I don’t think you should put that much decorations in their tank.. That’s exactly why they just want to hide because there is not really any room for them to swim.. You needed more balance in that tank
I raised 4 from babies and i have a 250l tank. They have grown up and you do have to remove the decs as they grow like monsters

I am not impressed with his tank at all. I would love to show you pictures of my two parana tanks. I have been keeping the species for six years now and I have had a lot of people see my tanks and say they are some of the best piranha set ups ever. Very disappointed. My tanks have real driftwood, plants, and red strips of duct tape on the glass under the light which gives the tank such a dark eerie feeling. I would love to show you pictures of my tanks not impressed with his at all

Michael Dougherty I think as many tanks that Criss has and as many people that watch him he would spend more time on his set ups as for the new guy I just think anybody can have a 260 or 400 gallon tank with no decorations or any other decor and just have fish swimming in them I watch a lot of people on TH-cam and they seem to have big tanks with absolutely nothing in it. Piranhas have to have places to hideAnd it Hass to be dark and murky. This species is the only fish that I keep sorry if you think I was trash talking him I am just very passionate about the species of fish and what they need. Thank you sir
