The concept explained is different from what I understand earlier. Each stage is taxed in totality, but credit given to earlier tax paid. cost to distribution is 100+10% 5=105 At distribution s t age, cost to wholesale is 125+10%=137.5-5 ( earlier taxpaid)=132.5
finally I have seen something which has cleared so many doubts about the GST. the way you explained the difference b/w the current and GST system was remarkable in a sense because to my knowledge, it is the only clear explanation available anywhere on the web. thank you friend ! keep up the good work .

what i mean't was when tax is levied on value added that amount is not added to selling price like retailer paid rs 2 tax on rs20 margin why would he not add rs 22 to price at which he bought the item and according to you he just added rs 20 i.e we are not paying any tax only
hey sahir, If it is added to Selling price then tax is tranferred from one to another... it means finally consumer have to pay more price and everybody else will save themselves from tax... this is the beauty of GST that each has to pay own tax....

It depends on how many people are willing to pay the extra price for the product. But a tax on pepsi will probably come from the companies pockets because they cannot increase the price for the consumer otherwise they will buy coke instead.

gst just makes the input tax credit interchangeable between centre and state taxes by subsuming all taxes into one...meaning state and national taxes become same that is gst...which is divided into cgst and sgst.. in esrlier system tax credit was available only between centre taxes at the centrsl level and between state taxes badically vat at state level...interoperability of tax credit was not available between centre and state taxes... now as all taxes are subsumed into one interopearbility of yaxes increase. He explained vat .gst just makes interoperability feasible...this reduces cascading effect of ysx on tsx in case of excise duty and vat...as cascading effect of tax on tax in case of sales tax has already gone with vat...so he has explained vat and how it reduces cascading effect by vat introduction.

The govt benefits because now tax base is increased. Every level in the supply chain (Manufacturer, Distributor, Wholesaler, Retailer) has to ensure that the person he purchases from is registered in the system & has paid the taxes. Everyone in the net :-)
If I am not wrong. In the current system at every stage Tax credit is provide to seller. If Manufacturer has paid 10 Rs tax then Distribute has to pay tax only on the Profit which he earned. In the given example, Manufacturer has to pay only 2 Rs.
I think the costier-cheap list should be modified. Because I had seen the no of items in news which price will increase or decrease. Some of the product on your list does not match with the list.

bro, this is not GST, its VAT. You explained VAT, which came in place of sales tax. GST is different.

excise tax is calculated after a trade discount on the MRP and after adding CST and VAT the total taxes add up to 18 percent.

Very good explanation. it seems this system is benefit for end costumer, the tax amount paid by the Manufactures,Wholesaller, Retailler to the government will be reducing in the GSTsystem. How the GST would be benefit for the government ? can anyone explain
The govt benefits because now tax base is increased. Every level in the supply chain (Manufacturer, Distributor, Wholesaler, Retailer) has to ensure that the person he purchases from is registered in the system & has paid the taxes. Everyone in the net :-)

Need to see how it is implemented on various goods and how consumers are benefited.
If I am not wrong. In the current system at every stage Tax credit is provide to seller. If Manufacturer has paid 10 Rs tax then Distribute has to pay tax only on the Profit which he earned. In the given example, Manufacturer has to pay only 2 Rs.

I think the costier-cheap list should be modified. Because I had seen the no of items in news which price will increase or decrease. Some of the product on your list does not match with the list.
