  • Ryan Walters and the Purdue Boilermakers didn't have the year they were looking for in 2024, but he has been on fire on the recruiting trail with the secondary additions of Koy Beasley, Luke Williams, and Tarrion Grant. Grant's reclassification to the 2024 class is a B1G move for the Boilermakers as they look to improve in the Big Ten.
Will Tarrion Grant make an impact for the Purdue defense?

Good news for Purdue. And retention is always the key to building any position group. I'll be rooting for them in every game but one this season.
    Thanks for the update.

And this is why Bobinski hired Ryan Walters.... Happening a little earlier than I anticipated, but I'm still concerned about Harrell opening up his offensive playbook to do anything in the BiG

If you want to retain players become a member of the Boiler Collective. All kinds of levels like $25 a month and it goes a lot farther the more of us join! BTFU!!!

Just like in basektball, they need to learn how to keep players, develop them, while they make money! This new era sucks...they are employees now....not really "student athletes"!

I may be totally wrong but the way the Purdue coaches are building the defense will-
    1) provide another scoring threat.
    2) allow the Purdue offense to run the type of offense that plays to their strengths.
    3) minimize the time the opposing offense is on the field.
    4) force the opposing offense to depart from their game plan.

There has to be a mechanism in place in the future that locks a player up for a few years. Pro athletes aren’t free agents after every season. College players shouldn’t be either. Perhaps an optional NIL contract, agreed upon by both the school and player, that locks the student athlete up for 3-4 years straight out of high school. That allow the athlete to hedge his risk at an early point in his career. You can’t just keep developing players for other schools.

Here's an idea: have them sit out a season and lose that season is eligibility. This would discourage transfers and allow things down quite a bit.

Ok, I think Walters is about home grown teams. He doesn't want to spend insane money on the portal. I think he wants to get what he needs, through the portal, when he needs them. But wants home grown kids who understand, from High School, Purdue will never be the highest bidder. But it's a good destination and that he and his coaches are going to develop them into draft picks. I think he wants to save as much NIL as possible to keep his guys home.
