It did work quite well that year when Caruso and Lonzo were there. Ellis - Carter with the two of them, maybe? 😜
But Caruso can’t shoot or Lonzo of course there nba players they can knock down on occasion but Ellis is a way better shooter then both of them and monk can shoot better than both of them combined no Zach has 3 to 4 people in the starting 5 that can score 30 on any given night…plus sabonis drops dimes with then it opens the floor 4 lavine back doors….
The picks the Kings got are just not good.
- 2025 Hornets FRP. Top 14 protected. It's never going to convey. It's 2 SRP in 2026
- 2027 Spurs FRP. This is going to be late FRP because the Spurs will be good in 2027
- 2031 Wolves FRP. This is the real price, but it's 6 years from now
Spurs still will need to do a lot of work to improve the spacing before really rising. They have the assets to fix that but this trade definitely didn’t solve all their problems

GM Brian Wright knew Spurs were in the driver's seat. Told teams Castle and Hawks picks were off limits. But to get a player like Fox AND not have to give up either Vassell, Johnson, Sochan, or Castle? That's gold! AND they even got rid of that awful Zach Collins contract. Wright wins GM of the Year and CP3 gets to stay in SA and is chomping at the bit knowing he doesn’t have to play heavy minutes. He comes off the bench to play against the opponent's backup PG. Crunch time lineup is Wemby-Sochan-Castle-Fox-CP3. That’s offense AND a stifling defense b/c of the first three on that list.

Thanks for doing this breakdown. I thought the same thing about the Bulls but I wasn't sure if I'd missed something since everyone focused on the Spurs winning this trade. Sometimes I look at this and think about how poorly run the kings and bulls are an how the Spurs, the best run organization is the ones that gets ahead. Good for Fox though!

@@6HappyBoy4I would disagree. I think we will look back and realize this was a huge part in the start of this future dynasty. It’s not that adding fox will make them a dynasty. It’s more of what they DIDNT have to give up. The ATL first rounder and numerous young players they could develop or use to package for another trade. Time will tell.

The Spurs future is looking bright for sure ! I like the trade a lot. In my opinion this trade is one sided and we definitely fleeced the stupid Kings 😂
My only concern is fox's age. When victor hits his prime fox is retiring. I hope castle develops into a player we hope he can be.
More teams need to move 2nd level stars like Fox and start over. Zion,Morant, Butler and other should have been moved.

The team that got the short end of the stick in this trade was the Warriors. The price Sacramento paid for Lavine is absolutely embarrassing to the Warriors front office. Outrageous!! This is the type of move that gets a GM fired! Of course, I'm referring to Money Mike, NOT the GM of The Bulls, or Kings.
Spurs no longer tanking. They make the playoffs as a 4-6 seed this year and win it all NEXT season. G-League coach Mitch Johnson does need to be replaced with a REAL live NBA coach with REAL world experience. Former Spurs player Monty Williams was also an asst coach for Pop. Monty now lives in SA.
