Just venting: my new Rough Collie puppy is nearly four months old, I've had her for a month, and she is the most difficult dog I've ever had (which includes her predecessor, a Rough Collie male). She won't come when called and won't stop nipping, jumping, and counter surfing. She isn't fully housetrained. She ignores me completely (unless food is involved). Seriously, I've had dogs most of my life, have read several books about training, and so forth, and I've never had this degree of difficulty with a dog. It's maddening.
Madness! I'm really surprised at the Rough Collie! Actually, they should be quite easy to train. I wish you a lot of patience and then it will be already... 😉

Our collie was a nightmare when we got him at 10 months, hang in there. it took a year or so for him to solidly bond to us and now he is a very biddable. Stubborn, though, and always too smart for his own good! Stubbornness I've read is a collie trait, because they are meant to be able to make their own decisions when away from a shepherd. Dont know if thats true. But my collie knows his own mind for sure!
I was laughing when the video said that they have 'almost no hunting instinct and will stay by your side' because if my collie sees a squirrel she just about rips my shoulder out trying to chase it. They are great with cats though, my kittens love her.
Well, the hunting instinct is always such a thing. Sometimes it depends more on the individual animal than on the breed. But it's great that she gets along so well with cats. I'm also a cat lover and I can't understand people who ONLY love cats OR dogs...
