The idea that Hasbro has some sort of arcane knowledge and only they can produce real ouija boards is endlessly hilarious to me
They made a deal, long ago. Eternal fortune and prosperity, and in return they would craft ouija boards to allow demons to cause mischief and mayhem.
Making your own would be more occult-y and mysterious than Hasbro

toy companies were the original patent/copyright/trademark trolls. The wham-o company claims to own 'frisbee' when... A) that's just a person's name, B) it was the name on the pie plates people were using to play games with.. So you actually stole their product AND their brand name.

The phrase "paper paper board" popped into my head and I spent like 20 minutes trying to reverse engineer where it came from
Hasbro DOES have a cadre of magicians working for them, namely, the Wizards of the Coast.
The possibility they aren’t considering with the “Kelly or Nancy” thing is that maybe Kelly and Nancy contradicted each other, so one of them had to be lying but the question asker didn’t know which one.
They said “I’ve been lied to by something NAMED Kelly or Nancy.” If they said “I’ve been lied to by Kelly or Nancy” what you wrote would make complete sense, they the yahoo question asked is clearly saying they don’t know if the entities name is Kelly or Nancy. And if somehow you are right the question asked should really enroll in an English class because they don’t know how to form a sentence.

These bits are so timeless that it really throws me for a loop when they say “it’s 2017!” or whatever year it was at the time I have a brief existential crises

Fun fact;
Ouija boards started as "necromancy" style superstition, but was turned into a parlor game in 1890 by a man named "Elijah Bond".
It's scientifically believed to work through "ideomotor response", or the subconcious movement from a person, meaning it does not speak to ghosts or spirits, it's simply that you're moving the planchette without thinking or realising. The reason most of the world now has a fear of Ouija boards is often associated with a mix of old ghost stories, and a modern revival through horror and ghost movies.
And the reason I know they aren't spiritually cursed is because I've used one about 6 times, and I'm about 90% sure I'm still alive... Though, I did have to tell someone how to type this through their use of a Ouija board, so that's something.

Also, another fun fact, none of you can test for Zozo, because you know of the existence of the Zozo thing, so you yourself could be writing or stopping yourself from writing Zozo without even realising it... Unless you weirdly ask your friends to use a Ouija board while you sit back and watch, and never tell them the reason why.

Best thing to do when talking to people who take Ouija far too seriously is to mention that it's a Hasbro product. They get so irrationally mad.
To be fair it was based on "actual" spirit boards being used already. And occult philosophy doesn't require something to be created in earnest for it to work, it only requires the user to believe it will work. What it is that an Spirit Board/Ouija Board actually does isn't even agreed on by occultists, btw, and one of the most popular interpretations is that you're actually contacting a level of your own subconscious that is indistinguishable from traditional religious concepts of "angels," "demons," or even God himself or the entire Universe.

It's kinda like how person who remembers their past lives was a noble, war hero, or otherwise prominent hero. Nobody seems to have a past life memory of being a peasant who lived a monotonous, dreary life only to die at 40 shitting themselves from cholera or dysentery (despite this being the vast majority of people throughout history).
