Hirth F23? Looks like it. Mine had the same problem on one exhaust flange- the spigot fell out of the flange, and on inspection the 2 fillets near the spring hooks hard marginal penetration. For safety I got a local exhaust shop to weld all round, and insert a flex joint between the engine and silencer to reduce any residual stress on the spigot. All good since after 100 hours.
Not saying those welds were good at all but with all the heat present there its extremely difficult to keep it from cracking. More than likely it's just going to crack just outside the welds. Something has to give because of all the vibration.
Ha. You broke the airplane. Well, I "sunk" my Buccaneer to the wings and all you could see was my head and wings above water as I stood in the cockpit while being towed in. 😁😁
I get that you're a gifted pilot/mechanic & all around type of guy but what's up w/ the "thumbnail"? I didn't see that plane crash in this video & I was wondering how it fits into this story? Not a big deal but it seems you're sharp enough in all the abilities God gave you not to need to embellish cold welds on the exhaust into a crashed plane on a thumb? peace man
Should have been inspected when purchased and prior to very first installation. Someone fouled up there. And your video title, Why do you say "You" broke the plane if the manifold came that way?

The intro had me concerned, but I love the video thanks, Mike.
Why the clickbait?😖

Sure glad you caught it!
Nice landing😊
Good to know that I, with zero knowledge of welding, might be able to weld as good as that “dude” 😂

But why that thumbnail .....
Yeah, kind of a dickweed move.
Got you to click, and me😂
@@capnhardway It worked for sure but i find it inappropriate at least since two people died in that crash .....

Yea you're right, should have said the plane broke?
I imagine they were trying not to overheat it when they built it.
Nice video
Thanks
I do not appreciate you lying
TIme to inspect every weld lol
The "do not recommend channel" button is for clickbait like yours BTW.
