I know it may seem like surviving in these situations are hard, but you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to grab the nearest weapon you can find, and find a good hiding spot. Literally, they could’ve gotten some kitchen knifes and some scissors, waited inside a room on the second floor, with no other entry points, or in the basement so the arrows couldn’t be shot through windows, and hid behind the door frames to attack whoever came inside. And whilst doing all of this, had somebody call 9/11, and get all the injured people to a safer place. Literally, excluding the obviously annoying “twists” and plot armor/plot points in the movie, if this were a real situation, everyone would’ve just grabbed some kind of weapon, locked themselves in a room upstairs, called the police, and wait to defend themselves. It’s like 8 of them versus 3 guys, plus they have Erin who apparently is a mastermind at setting booby traps.
That Erin chick kicked major ass. She really put up a good fight. If I were in her position I probably would've shit my pants and died within 20 minutes of the movie

It a good job her father prepared his daughter by teaching her survival skills. I am willing to bet she hated it at the time, wanting to play with her friends, but look how handy its come in. We tend to forget that just because we no longer hunted by animals like our ancestor were, that we are safe, but they are still dangerous cunning prey out there, we simple just called them humans.

@@GodsDumbLamb while i agree with having a survival instinct/awareness and a calm head during tense situations i think it's pretty useless to army train your kids rather than letting them enjoy their childhood, none of the mercenaries carried guns, none of them were present in the same room at the same time, none of them actually did anything to hide/camouflage themselves, two of them just "stood" while the lead killed them. Also the whole theme "my parents taught me as a kid" just doesn't doesn't work if you don't practise it till you reach adulthood. I think the lady also got stabbed in the frickin back and she pulled out the knife too. In the end just learn how to use a weapon and secure your area, reading the room ig. But you just can't have a experience of a situation you've never been put in no matter how many scenarios you've solved through your head.

This has gotta be my favorite "horror" movie. Not that I really like or watch alot of horror movies in gerenal, but theres no psychological or supernatural bs that might give me nightmares. It's just some psychopathic murderers, some gory deaths, and a badass chick to turn the tables. It goes from "Oh no they're going to kill me" to "I'm not locked in here with you... YOU'RE LOCKED IN HERE WITH ME."
One of the movie cliches that I HATE with all my heart is when the jumpscare is just a character getting the other character's attention by grabbing their shoulder. Like, no one does that in real life, you just call their name.

Yeah, Erin looked bad at the end, but what about the killers who were heavily equiped and probably had their cellphones with them? I'd at least raise an eyebrow after seeing some dude's corpse wearing an animal mask and finding out that the neighbours are also dead. And even if they were smart and didn't leave records themselves, I'm betting that the family members who planned the whole thing weren't so careful. It doesn't exonerate Erin immediately but some competent investigators would at least see that there's something fishy about the whole thing.
It's less about how competent the investigators would be, and more about if they actually want to find out what really happened. If it's easier for them to pin this all on Erin, they'll do it.
I already know how the film ends thanks to this channel because I would have never watched it otherwise. The poster was scary-looking house with people in creepy sheep masks and the title is 'You're Next'. Yeah...no. But, I'd watch it now for a better appreciation of Erin's smarts! She was awesome and I definitely liked her from the moment the narrator mentioned her suggestion of using chairs as cover against the arrows. Also knew something was off with Zee, too. She just had this look that came over her face when she was first introduced that didn't seem right.
Lucky that the neck wire trap on the front door was Amy's perfect height when she ran through. Some of the others were taller than her so would have got it on the chest
Tbh alot of their stunts were just lucky as hell. The shot through the window was lucky except if one of them was a marksman with bows, the wire is like you just said, (unless they put it there in the scenario that they were told she was the most likely to run for help as she was a marathon runner) like seriously. Everything else they did they showed no prior thinking (going through a window without checking, walking into the dark with a mask on arguably making it even harder to see, staying split even after they started losing people.) Anybody else agree or?
Felix was encouraging her to run so he knew the trap was set for her. Regardless, it would cause someone to hesitate, which would let the killers aim at them.

Neighbors had to die before the family reached their vacation home or else they can potentially hear the screams or escape to the family's cabin. Not implausible, considering Kelly was able to do it in a blind panic.
The sad thing is that this situation is based on a real occurrence. There is the case of Thomas Whitaker who is currently serving a life sentence in Texas for hiring hitmen to murder his parents and younger sibling, all for the family fortune. The hired killer managed to shoot and kill Whitaker's brother and mother, but failed to kill his father. His accomplices soon came forward and confessed to the police that Whitaker had promised them a cut of his inheritance if they helped to kill his family. He was tried and handed a death sentence, but it was later commuted to a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

The other 2 (other than the hired killers) were clearly unbalanced to begin with and planning doesn't seem to have been their forte anyway.

The most exciting part of this movie was when the prey reversed the situation and became the predator 😅
The irony being that they were never after her in the first place.

@@jahcullen9944 That's exactly the point - one of the antagonists was one of those "perfect crime" bozos who thinks you can account for everything without realising the human factor is a built in uncertainty.
The other 2 (other than the hired killers) were clearly unbalanced to begin with and planning doesn't seem to have been their forte anyway.
This is definitely one of my fav movies..
