  • Everyone, who loves traveling, loves sightseeing: Taj Mahal in India, the Colosseum in Italy, the ancient city of Machu Picchu in Peru and many more. You've definitely seen the pictures of these sights multiple times but have you ever wondered how it once looked? Way back in the days when they were built? Or even earlier than that... Here're the most famous archeological sites: then vs. now. Let's see how they've changed with time...

    With an all-white exterior in that sun the Egyptian pyramids would be utterly blinding to look at.
    That's awesome.

    The Pyramids of Giza - I have walked the floors of the Colosseum in Rome, strolled atop the Great Wall at Bandung in China, lazed around the verdant park around the Taj Majal in India, wondered at the walls of Angkor Wat in Cambodia and seen other equal or lesser monuments and ancient archeological structures all over the world in my many years of travel - but I would say that nothing seizes, mystifies, intimidates, mesmerizes and dominates you ever more than the increasingly looming sights as you approach the triangular shapes from a distance - of the Pyramids of Giza Plateau, 16 kms at the outskirts of Cairo in Egypt - an experience to me as most mortifying than anything else I have gone through as a traveler! To describe the sight as awe inspiring would still be an understatement. It was more to me like a living confrontational experience with thousands of years of tales and of a grand presentation by history of the structural wonders witnessed no less than by Julius Caesar and Mark Anthony, by Alexander the Great and by Napoleon Bonaparte through time and space! I still vividly recall in 1984, as I approached by road the structures in a craggy Fiat taxi on a late noon, the sight’s having evoked a feeling most akin to having the ancient tales of the world being told and laid down before me represented by those gloriously magnificent monuments as silent witnesses and muted testimonies of man’s intellect, power and will!

    I love these types of videos! All of these structures were incredibly made and had purpose. All still do as we love to visit and become enthralled as we step back in time. I sadly haven't gotten the chance to visit any of them but it's a huge goal of mine to see all of them before I die. I'm especially yearning for the feelings that will rush to me as I'm stepping into these sacred architectures. Just to see how people lived back then and walk the same trails that they once did. It's a memory that I long for. 🖤

    • @manuelsosa1656
      @manuelsosa1656 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Aaron, thanks for the info. I have been there in 1989 but didn't know about the original color of the structure until I read your comment today. And if I may also add: Everyone might be interested to know that there is an Elevator (Lift) up to the very top of the Tour Eiffel (which could cost you an extra bit to enjoy) - surprisingly, considering the contour and shape of the structure - but the Parisians still managed to set up a rectangularly shaped Lift with views, that could accommodate about a dozen persons in each trip. The midway to topmost trip could cost you more, but is well worth it, where you will view life-like images of Gustav Eiffel (the tower's creator) seated around a meeting with his technical friends. The view from that topmost elevation is breathtaking as well and provides a bird's eyeview of Paris environs around the small platform.

    Macchu Pichu, Pompeij, Colosseum, Parthenon in Akropolis, The pyramids of Giza and Taj Mahal. That makes only 6, and where is the rest 4 sites to see in the video?
    Here could have fit in Ankhor Wat in Cambodia and Maya ruins instead of probably count the each pyramid differently to make it 10, he evan call it a complex and they should then be counted as a group.

My math says that is around 3000 years later, not 100 years

    Taj Mahal looks almost same, as it looked 400 years ago. There's no change in its looks. It turned yellow in between due to pollution. But scientists and archaeologists worked their a$$es out to get back it's ivory white colour and they succeeded thankfully. Now, it's as fresh as ever. And, conservation of Taj Mahal is round the clock affair. Scaffoldings are almost always there, on some part of the monument. You have to visit it to see how beautiful it is!
