Ural Adventure Ride Gloucester to Uralla Sept 2021

- This is a video of my adventure ride between Gloucester and Uralla in September 2021 riding my Ural Ranger. There was a bridge down so had to backtrack and then the GPS took me up and down the same road in search of a "NON PRIVATE" road. Very annoying when people put up bogus signs to keep people off public roads that lead through their property.

Just finished the annual Ural adventure ride. Roads got hammered by rain then trucks! Was a fun ride anyway and all returned to base without incident. I will post the trip in a week or so. Next time we’re in the states I’m

Good stuff, I have been foiled by roads and private property , I’m never sure what the law is. My GPS gets me into a lot of trouble.
How are you finding the screen on those vibrating roads? Does yours always vibrate and move to the left?
I need to pull mine off and roughen up the mounts to stop it moving, add some loctite.
I have made a decision to ignore signs that are not put there by council or a government authority. Private signs look "private" and are normally worded aggressively. An official sign will just say "No Through Road". If my GPS has a road marked as a public road, I'm going through. Speaking to farmer friends, who have public roads running through their property, they tell me the problem is people just can't help themselves and go ripping through their paddocks. That must also be bloody annoying. If I'm stopped I'll explain myself and point to the public road on my GPS and backup map. The GPS I have attached to a RAM handlebar clamp system (here's the code RAM-B-367U). This has worked well for me on two wheelers and the Ural, which you'll be aware gives you a somewhat bumpy ride. I rarely, if ever, have my GPS move. The phone I had in a mount we are developing and that worked very well.

@@CreakyRider I will try the wave. Open hand wave or one of those Queen type waves? The screen is an issue. This ride it decided to go off to the side iso laying flat. I'm thinking of securing the bottom of the screen to the plastic instrument housing. I've seen it on another bike and it worked well. I put an extra little screen on top of mine to move the wind over my helmet. I towed the bike to where I was going and when I got there it was lying flat!!! One more project coming up.
Very nice work Greg. Stills work with HDR?. Quite interested in your camera setup too. Gopros, Dedicated stills cam..mountings etc. Perhaps a short video detailing what you have and how you use it. Drone? Make/model. I already have a couple of Gopros and still cams. Working with the finance minister on drone. While I wait for my 2022 GU. Following Keith and Alan too. Not too sure, but if your connected with "Stony Creek" on a pro basis I understand. On the other side, tips, ideas, equipment for those like minded, to expand/promote the brand and location can only be good thing as well.
Hi Harry, thanks for your interest. Firstly movie setup. I have a GoPro 9 and have just ordered the 10. The 9 I mount on a chin mount on the helmet and have the "Lens Mod" on it. The stabilisation and horizon levelling is terrific and I think the Lens Mod is worth every cent. I highly recommend both these products, although I would buy the 10 now. I've brought the 10 because I can take high quality stills off it...so I am lead to believe. This just makes it all the more easy in post. I will mount the 10 to a RAM mount clamp and move it about the bike at intervals. I have a GoPro remote mounted on my bars which works well. I put everything together with iMovie which I am learning. I wish there was a 1-2 day course available. I'm trying to coordinate the scene changes to the terrible, but free, music I use. iMovie is really great software and once you get the basics very easy to use. Photos I use my iPhone and edit on phone with the "Snapseed" App which I am a massive fan of. I have PS which I use extensively but i can do almost the same thing with snapseed in a fraction of the time. If I'm not using the phone I have an XT-2 (getting a little long in the tooth now) and us PS camera raw to do most of the editing. I am still very much learning and experimenting. When I think I have it right, I will do a blog and pass on what I have learned. Thanks again for your interest.
@@gregjansen9080 Hi mate. Thanks so much for your info. Blog would be good. Finances wont allow much GoPro upgrades here . Starting with GP7B and Silver, Plus various mounts. Mostly configured around travelling. I use my Panasonic TZ110 Travel cam for Video and Stills, plus my Android Phone. I use Filmora for editing on my aging PC I find with recent upgrade it has simplified Post colour matching between cams and colour grading really well. It does a great job producing High Def imaging on a TV, particularly large files though. TH-cam and FB would degrade it anyway if I went too large. For Tuition try "Andy at ProjectGoPro" on the www, he also has free cheat sheets and the like. With some luck my Gear Up will be here next month. So eager to get it setup and some footage underway. Looking at a drone too so watch this space. 😂😂
Great stills, thanks for sharing. Seemed the stills had better definition of the clouds than did the video; were you using a UV filter for them? Going through the curves with you my body was trying to react to my right side mounted car.
Good morning William, I left my stills camera at home and just used the iPhone X. Edited the photos on phone with Snapseed App which I'm a great fan of. I haven't learned how to edit colours etc in iMovie yet and doesn't help that I'm colour blind and basically don't "know" my colours. I normally edit things to my eye and if it looks good to me, then that's it! I know what you mean by having the chair on the other side. I've not ridden a right hand side mounted chair. We leave this Thursday on the Ural Adventure ride. Numbers are down because of this damn virus but I think we still have 12...should be fun.
