re: Dev Lab, the length also matters since there are only a limited number of 'slots' (default is 6). So if you do short programs early in the winter it gives you time to re-use that slot multiple times, as opposed to if you tie up the slot for the full few months.
"First impression is that player development is everything, and is a complete game-changer! On an unrelated note, my plan for the first OOTP stuff is historical exhibitions where there is no development whatsoever."
being able to directly influence the dev of your players is a huge addition. That alone makes it the best version in a while. Add a much better rating system as well. That being said if you're enjoying 24 you could wait to get it on sale. New OOTP versions are always iterations not reinventing it.
Anybody else notice some weird stuff with ratings? Why do I have so many 40 overall relievers that can't throw under a 5 ERA in rookie ball? Also have seen a couple instances with the game saying a pitcher's "stuff" rating went down but it didn't and it almost seemed like it was calling stamina stuff. Latest patch seemed like it fixed it but yesterday it was saying my closer's stuff went from 30 to 25 on his scouting page but the guy has 70 stuff. Also the international scouting finds are turned WAY up. Of course most still never pan out but it seems like my scout was finding 40 potential guys like every week. I had to manually remove players from the international complex for the first time because it was full.
I’m looking forward to starting my save - thinking maybe Marlins for me this year. I’m a Giants fan but sometimes going your own team can be frustrating! 😂 There’s always only a few changes with each release which is understandable considering they aren’t a big studio. I would eventually like to see interaction with your players and media in future. There’s an opportunity to really open up a baseball world in game outside of just going from game to game all the time. This and FM are the only games I play on PC. I’m looking forward to seeing the new FM this year with the new engine - be interesting to see how they can progress the game.
I'm the same, I fid it difficult to play as the team I support. I would love to see the ability to talk to players as well as right now when a player goes into a slump it just seems like you're powerless to stop it, though maybe wiith the new development lab features you'll be able to do something
I played as my favorite team on FM last year. It was really fun at first winning the league every year and even winning the AFC cup but it got exhausting after 10 seasons. I think I’m going to play as Red Sox this year
The player development lab looks like a great feature, especially as a team builder who always builds through young players. I think though for 26 there really needs to be heavy emphasis on graphical and engine improvements. I believe this with FM as well. Both games are at the point where the only thing really holding the games back is presentation. This doesn't have to look like The Show, and FM doesn't have to look the EA FC, but I think there is a middle ground further towards that end of the bell curve these two franchises should be able to reach now. Especially FM.
No, there's no online play in the franchise modebut there is the 'Perfect Team' mode which I don't have an account to play (though it's easy enough to register I believe. It's supposed to be like the FIFA Ultimate Team if you ever played that
@@AussieVillain I mean, I can't argue with that lol. I love the sound of your new series, especially because it's the kind of thing I imagine coming up with myself...but never having the time or energy to actually pull it off
Yeah for sure. There is so much that is top line about the game but that is the glaring improvement that's needed. It's only a small studio though I believe so cost is gonna be the issue
As a Brewers fan who always plays as the team, this is a great year to make player development a focus for the game.
🤣

Oh, good point!!!

In my defence I planned that before I saw it and also and most importantly...the Cubs broke me!

I think this is the biggest improvement in a while!
I’m really interested to see how much the passive development focuses will affect a player during a season, that’s going to fun to mess with.
Yeah it is, it should add a lot to the game I think/hope

I've not played the game proper enough yet to answer as I've been using historical mode but hopefully any issues like this are patched quickly!
I've also noticed relievers are asking for way too much money. Top FA relievers asking for 20 million.

For sure. FM25 is supposed to be a huge step forward. I'm not sure out of the park development have the resources to do this though which is a shame
Oh you didn't hear? FM25 is going to be a whole new game. New 3D engine, new menus, new look.

If i have ootp baseball 24, is it even worth getting 25
