It's funny how things changed for the Wolfpacks so quickly during the war. At this point (1942) they were a scourge on British and American shipping, and a year later German U-Boats were lucky to survive more than a month before being being sunk by ASW ships or aircraft.
It's actually a rather old song, originally released on the Primo Victoria album back in 2005, they just didnt have a lyric video for it before, they have been releasing official lyric videos for alot of their older songs recently

Its a old song and they weren't escorted by battleships this convoy was escorted by corvettes and destroyers you should watch sabaton history where they go in depth about the history and a little about the song itself
when i listen to this i always get a "Das Boot" Flashback.
Awesome movie really makes you feel the deep, dark claustrophobic feeling the crew has as if you were with them.

aKcHuAlLy, forming a "Wolfpack" was a naval tactic, not one specific group of u-boats. Basically it's attacking a convoy together with a number of other submarines, not just alone. It was quite effective against the allied convoys in the atlantic. The US Navy also used this tactic in the pacific against the Japanese. The allies greatly improved their counter-submarine tactics over the course of the war. The result being that only 25% of German u-boat crews survived the war.

You're right, it was a tactic invented by Karl Dönitz at a time he was a prisoner during WWI. About the last sentence, well some stupid German (who was making fun about the depth bombs) told they exploding way to early and they were deeper. The allies changed that...

they were called Western Approaches Tactical Unit (WATU) and their tatics saved a bunch of british sailors

This was the song that properly got me into Sabaton. Even though I have seen them live 6 times I have never heard it live.. maybe one day. Also, The Last Ship was a great series!
A dear friend of my grandfather's was aboard a convoy escort, I believe, when a torpedo (or possibly marine mine) went off below his ship. It was not close enough to break the keel or hole the ship, but he said the ENTIRE ship seemed to leap out of the water and splash back down. I cannot imagine how terrifying any convoy would have had it!
This is one of their best for me, and i was waiting a lyrics video to make some new fan discover this banger and to finally see reaction about this song, and a very good (as always 😉) in your case 🤘

The movie Greyhound with Tom Hanks does a great job of portraying the intensity of surviving the trek across the Atlantic delivering much needed supplies to the war effort and enduring the infamous German U-Boat Wolf Packs.

Let me tell you this, I'd rather die in the convoy (ON-92), than be a submariner (U-Boat crewman) who constantly faced the constant nerve-wracking fear of dying from the crushing depths should my ship suffer depressurization and crumple me to the consistency of pulp.

Well, the _lyric video_ for it recently dropped, so he's not completely wrong.
I like the song but i dont understand the video. The u-boats undersea seems to be klasse XXVI oder XXI and on the surface Klasse VII (what should be the boots of the wolfpack). But the battleships are all german typ ships. So german u-boats hunt german warships? Sorry, as a nerd of WW2 navy forces i am disapointed.

You make a valid point...it looks like the U-Boats underwater were taken from a different source than the video segments that show the U-Boats on the surface....the surface parts are definitely much more accurate than the U-Boats that are shown submerged. Wolfpack Hecht that attacked Convoy ON92 was comprised of mostly Type VIIC U-Boats.
