3:30 On tip clearance, i wonder if they could use a lip around the turbine front to produce a controlled separation of flow in the engine housing like they did on the SpaceShuttle main engine. With the flow separated from the housing, clearance would no longer matter that much... Or in other words, you create a Mach-diamond and put the turbine right in the middle of it.
@@death_parade What i said was not to be taken literally. Yes, variations in flow would move the zone of maximum compression, still you would have useful tolerances, at least i guess so.

Won't the varying throttle and airflow conditions of the engine lead to change in mach diamond position and size?
