I’m so glad James was given his freedom to do his film the way he wanted. I absolutely loved The Suicide Squad and want more. The level of excitement in James whenever he speaks about The Suicide Squad. I can’t wait to see what James Gunn has up his sleeves next for DC. Also, I cannot wait to see the peacemaker series!
This will definitely get a sequel
I have a feeling he wouldn’t have had this freedom if not for Guardians of the Galaxy where the studio head were probably like “no don’t touch him. Let him do his thing.”

Margot Robbie deserves so much more recognition for being a great actress. She mostly did all her stunts and that alone shows how dedicated she is on her role. RESPECT.

As Marvel fan, the suicide squad definitely improved on some of tropes and jokes like expect the unexpected, unlike most superhero cliche movies.

Studios please take note. The end product will almost always be better if you give the director space to do their own thing, rather than breathing down their neck. I loved this movie! Sucks that it’s not doing well at the box office.

Technically it is doing extremely well. Just didn’t reach the box office prediction of 30 million. That’s extremely low prediction considering Covid. Otherwise it was a hit on HBOmax where majority of people are seeing it.

I love how The Suicide Squad feels like a graphic novel came to life with all the colours exploding and all the title cards

From being fired from Disney/Marvel to making a great DC Film in years to one of the greatest DC shows of all time and is now heading DC Films. James Gunn has come a long way
I like the subtle jabs at Marvel as James Gunn says this is the best movie he’s ever made with the most freedom a studio had ever given him.
I reckon with his experience on this film he’s gonna make such a great film with GOTG 3. Not that the first two Guardians aren’t great but I imagine Guardians 3 is gonna be a step up

I mean, he was one of the most celebrated filmmakers in the MCU as he basically checked if what the Russo were doing with the Guardians felt right to their story and had a lot of creative control, hell he even added alien robot prostitutes and "scrotum hat" into a Disney movie. Obviously that was until he got fired because of sjw's power but he got back and even better as we get a Christmas special and GotG V3. And although he'll leave Marvel to keep working on DC, I see this as an absolute win lol

Warner and dc finally are giving creative freedom to the director instead of dictating the movie, this movie saved the suicide squad movies.
They gave full creative control to Snyder and he made two dc movies that sucked and had to be given an additional 70 million to make something possible.

Yes, thank you! I'm open to the occasional Joker or Dark Knight but there's no shame in just being a fun movie. Not that TSS wasn't layered with seriousness and drama but it never forgot to have fun with its premise.

@@ryanoseguera1207 I remember watching them a few weeks before Guardians of the Galaxy was released and I really enjoyed them. They made me even more exicted for GOTG. I love the scene in Super where that man cuts in line. It cracks me up every time.
@@darthwatson8274 this may be a stretch but I think Super might be the equivalence of Taxi Driver. It’s the Taxi Driver for Superhero films. Not saying it’s as good, but I kept thinking back to Taxi Driver while watching Super

When I first ever saw the trailers for guardians of the galaxy, I was like "a talking racoon... And a tree... Wtf" and now its my favourite series in the MCU. When I first saw the trailers for this I was like "hmm a talking shark dude, not for me" and now King Shark is my favourite character ever. James Gunn just knows what he's doing with... Goofier? Characters. Which is especially important in the DC universe because they have a ton of cheesy characters
About 5 minutes in I wasn’t impressed. I thought it was just a stupid movie that wasn’t very well thought of. I kept watching though and was proved wrong. It’s so funny, yet so real and creative. 10/10 movie

I love how unexpectedly great this movie was. I went into the theater with low expectations and my head was blown thru the roof once credits rolled. To say i love this movie is an understatement.
I feel very bad for David Ayer having the studio breathing down his neck & destroying what he had envisioned. I've heard he's been a good sport & very supportive of James Gunn, good on him

This is my favorite movie of the year. James Gunn and Zack Snyder can run the snyderverse no problem. Having DC, Marvel and Star Wars all killing the industry is just beautiful to see

The roaster of directors they have (had in Snyder's and Ayer's case) on DC is amazing: James Wan, David F. Sandberg, Patty Jenkins (although her work on WW84 was questionable to say the least), Andy Muschietti, now James Gunn... This could work amazingly

Let's hope DC understands what happened and give more creative control to the director over the movies.
I'd also like them to continue one off movies like that. Not knowing who's going to make it or not is a feeling I've actually never had watching a comic book movie and it's so refreshing. It's really hard to fear for a character when you know nothing can really happen to them anymore.
Also glad to see that The Peacemaker series is written by James Gunn and that he's directing at least 3 episodes (almost half of the show).
Wonder Woman 1984 got full creative freedom. The movie ended up being a complete joke
I think they need to give full creative control to the right person. For example, snyder should never have full control, because he isn't a very good director and does not understand nor care for the source material, he needs people who tell him no. Gunn on the other hand understands the material he's working with, hence he doesn't need someone looking over his shoulder.
I absolutely agree. I just hope that the trailers don't spoil the movie in the future. This movies trailers actually had alot of spoilers and summerized a majority of the plot
To be honest, it's not DC's fault, it was WB's. But I get what you mean, and at least they finally learned their lesson about creative freedom.

This is one of the best dc movies to come out recently. He wasn’t trying to make it look or feel like a dc movie or a marvel movie, he just made a fun unique super”hero” movie and it worked

This film makes me want to act either more. One day I be on a film set just got to keep working at my skill.

She's the best she's ever been in this movie.

DCEU has some great casting it’s just the studio gets in the way every time and when they don’t the movies are great.
First dc movie that i feel the Cgi is not shit , and it was pretty awesome.

Why can’t the DCEU have both movies that are dark and gritty as well as ones that are lighthearted. Or even dark comedies like this one. I would actually like to see all that rolled into one.
Tone balancing is key, that's what I love about shared universes, the variety from like MCU Phase 1 or now the DCEU with stuff like the dark Snyder style sharing a universe with Ayer's grounded gritty style for his Suicide Squad, David F. Sandberg's lighthearted and cheezy Shazam and Gunn's colorful but gorey and outlaw oriented style for a lot of his films
@@ivanagustinortiz5237 exactly let the genre branch out rather than forcing everything to be dark and gritty. Characters like Shazam or TDK wouldn't work well portrayed as ultra serious gritty characters but theres nothing to say that those darker characters can't Interact with ones like Shazam and make it work

This movie is just beautiful. Practical/CGI visual effects, cinematography, screenplay, soundtracks, and many things. It would be a shame if it doesn't get nominated for Best Picture.
I think this film would also very much deserve a costume and make up design oscar much more than the first one Cos that one didnt even really deserve it. But keeping that in mind it makes it a good thing, cos if a terrible film like the 2016 one got the Oscar for it then this one definitely deserves it
I feel so blessed to have been able to watch this in IMAX as my first movie since the pandemic hit. One of my favorite superhero movies.

SO GOOD
I completely fell in love with this film. The script, the scenes, the brilliant acting and the chemistry of this movie were great, but I admit there were a few coherency mistakes at the final sequences but no matter because they didn't spoil the enjoy of watching the film. I saw the movie for the third time today and I didn't get bored at all, and thanks to this special feature I was able to get into the film's deepht. Thinking I didn't care about the film before the releasing (despite I knew James Gunn's films) and then it became one of my best movie ever seen.
This movie was genuinely awesome

Very enjoyable movie, among the best 3 DCEU ( if it still exists ), gory and funny AF, likeable characters, it is Avengers meet Deadpool.

I feel like lately as far as dc is concerned they’ve given the directors even more creative freedom. Plus I think with what Gunn did with the guardians of the Galaxy they were like “hey if he could make that with full freedom. Let’s let him have his fun here”
