Scott Ritter is a former Marine intelligence officer who served in the former Soviet Union, implementing arms control agreements, and on the staff of General Norman Schwartzkopf during the Gulf War, where he played a critical role in the hunt for Iraqi SCUD missiles. From 1991 until 1998, Mr. Ritter served as a Chief Inspector for the United Nations in Iraq, leading the search for Iraq’s proscribed weapons of mass destruction. Mr. Ritter was a vocal critic of the American decision to go to war with Iraq. His new book, Disarmament in the Time of Perestroika: Arms Control and the End of the Soviet Union, is his ninth.

I personally believe NATO instigated Russia's military response by their expansionist policies, but that doesn't even matter at this point. Simply put, Ukraine is getting it's ass kicked. There aren't enough Ukrainian soldiers left to mount a serious defense, much less an offensive campaign that would force the Russians out. This is the reality the world must deal with.

It seems that most interviewers cannot wait to interject thoughts of their own, interrupting expert guests, therefore depriving listeners of complete, well-thought-out responses. To me, this interrupting behavior of other interviewers screams of a need to feel validated. I really appreciate Nima's patience and respect for his interviewees and his listeners. He strikes me as a man who values the sharing of knowledge above the need for approval of his own thoughts. That is the mark of an unselfish man -- a man who is willing to learn while admitting that he still has things to learn from others, as we all do. Maybe I read too much into it. For whatever reason(s), he consistently gives us engaging interviews without making overt efforts to put himself above his guest or the subject matter. Zelensky didn't try to prevent the conflict through diplomacy because he lacks honor and integrity.
In 2014 there was a coup. Soon after, there was a massacre in Odessa (dozens of people were burned alive). Ethnic Russians living in Ukraine were treated as subhuman. Their language and culture was being oppressed. A civil war broke out due to the rise in ethnic tensions. For 8 years the Ukrainian military was indiscriminately shelling civilians living in Donbas.
If Zelensky honored the Minsk agreement and pledged neutrality, none of this would have happened. The 8 year civil war would have ended and Donbas would have remained part of Ukraine. War is the ultimate failure of diplomacy.
Zelensky, Poroshenko, Merkel and Hollande admitted that Ukraine had no intention to honor the Minsk agreements.
Who didn't want peace? Who advised against the 2022 peace talks in April? Hint: someone visited Zelensky in Kiev at that time
Russia's national security was compromised once NATO began to expand eastwards. Russia clearly stated that Ukraine joining NATO was a red line (November 2021) and unfortunately this concern was never taken seriously. The Russians openly stated: if nothing changes, we will be forced to act in order to defend our national security. Enhancing the national security of one country at the expense of another is unacceptable. The Russians have legitimate security concerns.
20th September, 2021: Ukraine launched military drills with US and NATO.
NATO is not a defensive alliance. NATO illegally bombed Yugoslavia (a direct violation of the U.N. Charter).
We should never forget what they did to Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq etc.
Who blew up the pipeline causing an environmental disaster?
Zelensky banned all opposition and arrested a leading priest.
Zelensky tried to invoke article 5 under false pretenses. Remember the incident in Poland.
Ethnic Russians living in Ukraine were treated as subhuman. Their language and culture was being oppressed.
Poroshenko said, “Our children will go to schools and kindergartens-theirs will hide in the basements”.
Russians will never forget the 2014 Odessa massacre. The whole world needs to know about it.
Why was Denis Kireev eliminated? He was a member of Ukraine's negotiating team during the peace negotiations. He wanted to help his country.
Ukraine has a hit list. They target artists, journalists and ordinary citizens. Hundreds of children are on this list. 13 year old Faina Savenkova was placed on this list.
Pink Floyd's Roger Waters is on this list. Jimmy Dore (American stand-up comedian, podcaster) and Aaron Maté (Canadian writer and journalist) are on this list.
There is evidence that Ukrainian troops have been indiscriminately shelling civilians in Donbas (they used petal mines and targeted areas where there was no military presence).
The azov troops trapped in the azovstal steelworks in Mariupol used human shields. They refused to allow civilians to leave despite of humanitarian corridors being present.
Russia held a proposed cease fire in order for the civilians to leave, but azov would not allow the civilians to leave.
Ukraine has committed many acts of terrorism (car bombs and other forms of assassination). Darya Dugina (journalist) R.I.P.
The first terrorist attack on the Kerch bridge killed the truck driver and the individuals in the adjacent car (innocent civilian victims).
The second terrorist attack on the Kerch bridge killed two parents and severely injured their young daughter.
I have done a lot of research and it took me a long time to write this comment. I have stated a lot of facts and I have given my honest opinion.
I have provided a brief summary of events that took place. In order to explain this whole situation in great detail, a book would need to be written.
Hopefully someone will write an UNBIASED book, stating facts and allowing the readers to form their own judgments. Everything I said can be fact checked and verified.

Never knew about that Massacres of Poles in Volhynia and Eastern Galicia incident. Just look it on wiki massacres of Poles were carried out in German-occupied Poland by the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) with the support of parts of the local Ukrainian population against the Polish minority in Volhynia, Eastern Galicia, parts of Polesia and the Lublin region from 1943 to 1945. Estimates of the death toll range between 60,000 to 120,000. In 2008, the Polish Parliament adopted a resolution defining the UPA's crimes against Poles as "crimes bearing the hallmarks of genocide". In 2013, it passed a resolution calling it "ethnic cleansing with the hallmarks of genocide". On 22 July 2016, the Sejm established 11 July as National Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Genocide committed by Ukrainian nationalists against the citizens of the Second Polish Republic. Never knew that there are no amends to that day from side of that country. Somehow in the media all the time that vibe of democracy flagship

The problem is serious which is why the bloodshed is so extensive. The issue is the Euro which is based on the Dollar. Both are fiat currencies which means they have a finite life. That life is coming to an end which is why there has been so much money printing since the 2008 crisis. The problem is that you can only do that so long before inflation kills the economy definitively. Instead of going to a sound economic model with currencies backed by gold and/or silver the ´elite´ prefer war with which they can reset the fiat model and chug along for another 70-75 years. The keynsian economic model in the West is a ´debt and death´ based model, it is insolvent by it´s nature. If the ´elite´ change to a system with sound money they will loose most of their wealth and power. That is the problem, they prefer to go to war and take the enemies assets to kick the can down the road, so to speak. The problem is that they have set their sights on Russia and Moscow is too powerful, yet they persist in the hopes that some internal turmoil in Russia will arise that will give them the opportunity to balcanize Russia. That is simply not going to happen. The West is running on pure Hopium and that ain´t a strategy. This will spell the end of a high standard of living in Europe and the US.

As for the EU, they buy Russian oil through India and Turkey.

In the meantime, just six months ago, they prohibited Hungarian language in Hungarian schools until 17h, and between doctors and patients ever. Before that, they took time out to remove from a fortress of a Hungarian city a sculpture, which is 1000 years old. Just throwing it into the fitch. 1000 years ago they were kannibals and had their first sexual experience with their mother. They haven't changed much since.

Mr Ritter is incorrect in stating that all Americans are Russophobes. In 2014 I didn't have a positive opinion of President Putin and thought the takeover of Crimea by the 'little green men' was a crime. Fast forward to the start of the SMO and as time has moved on, my opinion has completely changed now that I know the facts. I am NOT alone in this belief.

Not all Americans are "Russia-phobic". There are a few who remember what our government has done to us over past decades. A few who, when Russia threatens to destroy our government, will be eager to help. A few who would rather die resisting evil than to live in submission to it.

I agree with Scot, it is too late for any kind of talks. And that egonarcist Trump can dream whatever that kind can dream of, the machine is rolling and he better wakes up to reality this world is changing USA can be part of it or slowly sink in its illusion of being exceptional nation.

Mr Ritter makes the point that Operation Bagration finished in August 1944 but the Germans kept fighting till May 1945 as an indicator that Ukraine is losing. This is just a silly analogy. Firstly, the Germans were fighting a multi front war, with next to no real allies. The real reason Russia was able to field such immense armies was the massive US support and supplies and Mr Ritter seems to overlook this. Russia is slowly being bled out by this war, they have practically emptied their tank and AFV parks, and are fielding artillery and tanks from the 1960s (T64 tanks, M46 howitzers). Yes, they are gaining territory but the casualties are massive and their economy is being eviscerated. Getting back to Operation Bagration, the Soviet casualties were insane, their KIA, missing and incapacitated was around 770K but at least they had the Allies fighting Germany in the West. If this is winning, Russia would be better off surrendering now.

The smack talking about 45 how much from a place of ignorance. I watch that man for the last 6 years look at all that has been thrown at him and he has overcome Scott Ritter has to take these things that he does because the first time that he ever said anything positive about Trump he got waylaid unfortunately there are people who watch this channel are against this great country that has lost its way. We can put this country back together again if we work together but the division and name-calling has to stop. If you can't tell that we are in a fight for our very lives after the opening ceremony of the Olympics then you will never never realize the danger that we are in. Send the asteroid.

The final German surrender was signed on 8 May; BUT it was so late in the day in Berlin that it was already 9 May in Moscow. , That is why "Victory Day" is 9th May.

He either is poorly advised, or is pushing the cope a bit further to get over the line and will then leave the EU holding the bag the second he has the votes. Saying 'we will observe reality' is not a vote winner with the perilously low standard of the western electorate

Trump is the best hope, nonetheless. Harris will simply take orders from the Warmongers in DC, as she is a puppet of Obama.
Trump will negotiate the best deal he can, and pull out (like Afghanistan). He does not want war, he wants deals.
