I bought the first version years ago and love it. Making jump rings with it is more fun and less frustrating than using a hand saw. I found it well worth the cost.

@mlgovaars Thank you. After the video, I added little bead dangles to the earrings. I love wearing them and they were super simple to make.
Thank you for your time and patience explaining this. My wife has tasked me to make these rings. The only question I have is the direction of the blade spin. If I have it cutting down then it throws out the cut jump rings. If i have cutting in the up direction I feel it's missing lube. I am so confused.

It can be frustrating. You want the blade down. If it throws the rings out, it is in the right direction. I sometimes wrap the rings in some scotch tape to help them from being thrown out.
@@MelissaMuir Awesome, I thought so but was struggling with flying rings. Cutting up also seems to fuse the rings so maybe the lube wasn't working.

I'm not sure how much a JMR2 costs (I'm sure it's not cheap), but I would think you'd have to be a serious jewelry maker to invest in this machine. It seems way to complicated.
Tigersfly You are right, it is a tool purchase that I would make only if I were serious about jewelry. I believe they run about $200 or so. I am serious about jewelry, but don't do that much with rings, so I would usually just cut them by hand with a jeweler's saw when they were needed. Just like any tool, there is a small learning curve, but I don't feel this is one is too complicated.
Thanks so much for the good video it is very informative. I was wondering what the material you made the jump rings out of, it looks like copper and if it is how you deal with oxidation?
Jim Fenton I did work with copper. You can spray the rings or coat them with wax. But I typically just let them go as natural. When I need to clean them up, I usually use a soft polishing sponge. Depending on whether or not I have stones that can handle it, I will toss them in a tumbler.
I don't have a Flex Shaft. I have a Dremel Tool instead. Will that blade guard thing work with the Dremel?
Lady Linyan I have contacted Pepetools and the replied with the following "Unfortunately in our extensive testing we have found that the best tool is the Foredom #30 (hand piece). For this reason we can not reccomened using a Dremel nor will the hand piece holder work with a Dremel."
I will also add, that if you are going to be doing a lot of jewelry making, a flexshaft is an investment you will never regret.

Hi love your vids can you tell me what the difference is between the original and the 2? How do I prevent the burs it's new and I'm getting burs?
+Md729 I am afraid I didn't have experience with the first version. I know that this one is stored a bit differently and more efficiently. I would go a little slower as you are pulling the blade through the coil. That may help prevent the burs.
