Since 1963 I've been a Blues fan... The mood and stories spoke to me even at the tender age of 12 years. I'm from a hard bitten poor family from Blyth Northumberland England. Depressed dying industries hanging on through grit and longing. Us 'Geordies' could relate to this music..the rough wirh the smooth and the bawdy.. My early heroes from England, Eric Clapton, Peter Green and later Marc Knopfler as well as local bands like Downtown Faction worshipped at the altars of Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, BB King, Howling Wolf and all the other authors of The Blues...
So tonight in my 70th year, holidaying in the warm heat of a Barbados beach, it's a delight to swim in the blue sea of the Blues with artists I'm not familar with except Rory Gallagher [ a genius live] and Jimmy Witherspoon..
