My winner, though another automatic model, have worked for years. It keeps the time quite well, and the date never fails. However - the automatic winding mechanism barely works as the winding part moves very little.
The watch movement is an automatic version of the Shanghai 7120 (aka Tongji) movement. It's basically an automatic mechanism slapped onto a manual winding movement hence why it does not work too well. Oh well, you can find a replacement movement for the auto winding version on ali so it's not a huge deal.
A458 : for me, it stopped 3 months after ... BUT it was a just a screw floatting under the balance wheel (easy repair) & did work for 2 years, until i jumped to my current NH35 (better quality) ➡ i did a video of this A458, because unhappy first ... (but not for the 1min repair) ➡ for you : this is a broken "Setting Lever Spring" ? (keyless work ...) but the movement (7120 ? 8120?) is "as cheap as" the watch, and moreover, they dont sell this part yet on alix ??
I wonder if I removed the winding weight and just wound it manually when I want to wear it if that would reduce the wear and extent the life of the movement?
That would be awesome, I like your idea, but, at the same time I don’t think it’s worth it. 🥹 You can buy the entire watch for less than 19$ new. A “service shop”, here where I live, would probably charge me the same amount or something very similar. I think I’ll keep it for spare parts. Thank you for leaving a comment, I really appreciate it! 😁
You got 8 years out of that POS movement. Amazing.

ok, that piece of metal is actually the setting lever spring, it straight up broke off.

if he had the aptitude for it he could potentially find a donor movement to get the setting lever spring off of since that's the part that broke off.
It sounds like you had a good run with that.
Absolutely! 😁

It looks like a broken pawl for the self-winding mechanism.
My poor watch.
🥺
Just replace that single part for lesser than 2 dollars then it's ready for use after a service, go to a nearby watch service shop
