About to vacation there. Not sure why tourists would visit the trampoline place. Is there any kind of Marconi museum or exhibit? My husband's a ham radio enthusiast here in the US and I thought I'd heard a few years back about Chelmsford having something to do with Marconi radio. I might have misheard.
There was a fully working TV studio set up at Sanford Mill, staffed by ex Marconi engineers. Unfortunately the museum management decided that it had to go.
This video is a little out of date and somewhat misleading in places. First of all, the Essex Police Museum is nowhere near Chelmsford Prison. It is situated below the ground floor of Chelmsford Police Headquarters off Kingston Crescent. Chelmsford Prison is on the far side of Sandford Road where it emerges into Springfield Lane. Certainly walkable but hardly adjacent! Second, the Civic Theatre, previously situated behind Chelmsford Civic Centre, has been retitled Chelmsford Theatre as it has been partially rebuilt when it was merged together with the Cramphorn Theatre immediately behind it (named for the theatre's founder).

The best place to learn about the radio is Chelmsford museum (Oakland's park) or Sanford Mill museum both are worth a visit!
