You captured every bit of a perfect morning. The colors and sounds were awesome. And of course a beautiful lady gliding on glass. Absolutely beautiful video!❤
Absolutely stunning videography on this one! Stellar job. Kudos to you. The lighting and colors are incredible. Obviously nature was in full cooperation with you, but you nailed this one!
From Deb…You have absolutely outdone yourself-and all others-in gorgeosity with this video!!! Those opening scenes where the smoke looks dark blue against the lightening sky are just stunning! I can tell from the comments this was a big hit. THANK YOU!!
Thanks Deb! The part with the steam/smoke was my favorite bit too. My second favorite bit was the reflection in the water at Rice’s Point. I so wish my video could have conveyed what it was really like that morning. 🙂
The fog horn is my text alert. My first 23 years I spent living on the hill watching the boats and hearing the fog horn. My heart skipped a beat when I heard the first blares and response on your video. I spent a summer next to the Oberstars when he was first elected in ‘74. I especially remember his sweet daughter. Thanks for the stunning video and a sweet trip down memory lane! ❤
What a gorgeous morning for the arrival of a classic laker! Hope you got some still shots to go with the video because those conditions were just amazing!
What a great video! nice to see the Oberstar, the passage through the canal, and then a fantastic sunset. Glad the engineers who looked at drawings of the exhaust treatment system didn't scrub it...8^) Really enjoyed this one. Cheers!
All the other comments say exactly what I wanted to say too...absolutely surreal water/reflections/gliding/floating/sunrise and masterfully done Mark. I still say make a calendar with these images...she really looks like she's sliding into the canal on a perfect sheet of ice. Yahoo we get to see it!!!
Wake up Duluth! The Oberstar's been up all night hard at work, and now it's time for all you land folk to get the day started. Sounds like the deck crew was in a hurry to get the hatch covers open. Maybe the chef was preparing everyone's favorite breakfast?
Ok, so my questions for today are, What is a "Scrubber"? And what is causing the clanking noises? The channel is so calm and beautiful. Must be quite cool out.
Never mind, read further into the description and found out what the scrubber is. Thank you for writing that up for us new comers to the world of shipping.
Thank you! The clanking sound is the deck crew removing the hatch clamps. It’s actually been a warm autumn. I think it was in the low 50s for this arrival. It’s supposed to get colder later this week, however.
Awesome! Maybe the best video I've ever seen of any Laker arriving in Duluth. The calm water and the sunrise just makes this so surreal.
High praise! Thank you Dave! 🙂

And the Kahlenberg KPH-130 caps it off!
Thank you! The morning light was spectacular… I tried to do it justice, but admittedly it looked so much better in person. 🙂
@1Long2Short You did a great job showing us the beautiful morning and ship. Just Wow!
Absolutely stunning videography on this one! Stellar job. Kudos to you. The lighting and colors are incredible. Obviously nature was in full cooperation with you, but you nailed this one!
Thank you Andrew!
Absolutely perfect video 🤌🤌🤌
That's not what that hand gesture emoji means in Italian. It means "Ay, whata you think a you doin?"
Thank you Yvonne!
We're so glad we all enjoyed it! 🙌
So beautiful! From the sky to the ripples in the water. Awesome video!
Thank you Amber! 🙂
🌟 We're thrilled you enjoyed the video. Nature truly has a way of captivating us all, doesn't it? 😊

Thanks for watching! I wish they still had the old fog horn at the south pier lighthouse.
What a gorgeous morning for the arrival of a classic laker! Hope you got some still shots to go with the video because those conditions were just amazing!
Thank you Kelly! I only do video, as others do photos so much better than I do. 🙂
This is amazing!!
Thanks!
Very beautiful video, one of all best this season!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thanks Diane! 🙂
This is one that will be VERY hard to top!
Bravo my friend, bravo!👍🏿🥂
Thank you! Every once in a while things line up nicely. Just glad I was there to capture some of it! 🙂
Positively, Absolutely BEAUTIFUL 🤩 👍
Thank you! 🙂
Fabulous footage. Thanks for defining "scrubber." It sounded like one of the Aerial Lift Bridge's horns needed some maintenance. Cheers!🥂 ☮
Same With The Warning Bell
@@damiancameron3614 I guess it's been l-o-n-g season and things are getting "tired." 🤷♂
Thank you! Yeah, I think one of the six horns on the bridge was acting up.
The warning bell has been on the fritz for a few years. Some days it works, some days it sorta works, and some days it definitely doesn’t work. 🙂
Beautiful video! Thank you!! 🧡💙
Thank you! 🙂
What a great video! nice to see the Oberstar, the passage through the canal, and then a fantastic sunset. Glad the engineers who looked at drawings of the exhaust treatment system didn't scrub it...8^) Really enjoyed this one. Cheers!
Thanks Jeff! The engineers did good with this one. 😉

Thanks Lisa! Maybe I will compile a calendar someday. I’ll tell Paul that I’m copying his idea. 😆
wow such a pretty shot of her coming in! the Oberstar is one of my favorites on the lakes. crazy how the water can be so glass.
Thanks! The Oberstar is also one of my favorites. 🙂
I have seen the light on the bridge with the horn, but this is the first time I ever saw one on a ship. Interesting.
Most ships have them somewhere, usually on top of the pilot house. But the Oberstar’s is on the unloader, which is a little unusual.
Very well done. 👍
Thanks!
Fantastic light and ship
Amazing Video!
Thanks!
Absolutely awesome vidio!
Thank you!🙂
Love it.
Thanks!
Awesome camera work! The sunrise was amazing. The bridge horn did not seem to happy. Wonder what was going on with it?
Thanks! Yeah, I think one of the horns was struggling. (There are six horns total.)
Nice video.
Thanks Alexsandra! 🙂

Yeah, the clanking of hatch clamps starts as soon as they reach the canal!
Cracking video.
Thanks!
Nice Sounding Rolls Royce Bergen Engines
They purr like a kitten! Almost as cool as Rolls Royce Merlins in a Spitfire or Mustang. 🙂

The old lake ships are the best...
I agree, Jim! The 1000-footers are impressive and entertaining to watch, but my real passion is for the classics. 🙂
How cold was it that morning?
Low 50s if I remember correctly. T-shirt weather. 😁
🥰🥰🥰🥰👍👍👍.
What is the hammering noise?
refer to @chris_261 above, they're opening the hatch covers before they off-load
probably has to do with opening the hatches
@@treeandaturd That makes sense
Yup, if you look closely you can see the deck crew removing the hatch clamps. I keep forgetting to mention that in my video descriptions.
Live in England for over 5 years, the word scrubber isn't a compliment there. 🤣🤣🤣
absolutely correct
Next thing you’ll be telling me that a fanny pack sounds rude 😆
