Just forgot to mention the ease of putting them on and taking them off for OAPs. Plus diving on rubber boats with limited space etc

I use Force Fin Pro when shore diving here in Southern California, because it's much easier to put them on when walking into the surf. For flutter kick they work better than my larger Deep 6 Eddie fins.

Well done the one point you missed is the ability to replace a strap with more bungie cable if it ever breaks. Used these Fines since they first came out due to compact size and weight for flying. The only disadvantage to me ever was as you say current or snorkeling/free diving in the last 20 years. I5 amazing that so many people have never seen my yellow fins. I forgot that you can also be easily spotted in a dive group

I think Force Fins fulfill a very specific niche but most definitely not for everyone. Keep doing your unbiased reviews and you'll get to 1k+ in no time

If you need a special technique to "use them right"......and they still provide no tangible benefit over a regular fin.....what's the point in them???

i feel like this is similar to the debate between small Jet fins VS big Rocket fins... i used both when i was still in the navy and to be honest i think i was one of the few people that enjoyed wearing the small jets after the break-in period, i've never worn the force fins but im assuming they're better for kicking faster i guess... idk... good video though!

I’ve used the force fins for over 20 years. Sure they’re not as powerful as the longer fins but that’s ideal for somebody that has both ankles injured one broken, the other one badly torn ligaments it relieves the strain on the top of the foot and the stretch of the ankle and does not cause leg cramps, the bicycle kick seems to be the most effective for myself. they’re all so easy to put on and takeoff especially in the water

Have you ever tried jet fins or similar? I think that will be the good ones for you

I used to instruct Scuba at one of the stocking shops on North Carolina. There are multiple models targeted for different divers. BLUF: You should try one of the stiffer variants. There are multiple stiffness for the three standard design models (Forcefin, Forcefin Pro, Tan Delta) there are also the longer and more powerful excellerating forcefin and extra force fin. The standard model is easily overpowered in my opinion but were good for kids and lightweight or petite beginners. They are great for a pool, initial training, and diving in tight areas. The model that sold the best was the Forcefin Pro that was stiffer and more responsive. This was the model the USCG and SEALs bought. While these were better the Forcefin Tan Delta was the stiffest and snappier version allowing for rapid long kicks with good power delivery. There were other longer and even stronger fins in the excellerating, flying forcefin and extra force fin models available in all three materials as well with the tan delta being the strongest. The excellerating force fin is the strongest immediate speed version with short burst being really great. The forcefin extra is longer and provides more general power than the standard and the flying forcefin allows for better frog kicks and backstroke power. The Tan Delta models are easily identifiable being they are translucent and came in five colors. Black, red, blue, green, and yellow were all available in tan delta and pink, blue, orange, green, black and yellow in the base colors. One negative is I did not think the standard design worked well for snorkeling without a slight side stroke but great for spear fishing. On the positive side they are the simplest and most durable fins I have ever used or had as rentals. I never had a student need a new fin strap or replacements or cut fin. If the fin somehow is cut or damaged you are probably inside a great white. Recommendation for anyone ordering these fins. If you wear a soft soled thin bootie normal ish sizing or go up if the sole sticks out. If you wear a hardsole or use a drysuit go up at least one size. If you are diving rock boots go up two sizes. If you are also going to dive in warm water get the comfort instep and go barefoot!

I have had force fins for 6 years. I like them for travel to warm water diving. However, I’m from Canada where warm water does not exist. For dry suit/ cold water diving I agree with you, Force Fins do not have the power required. Cheers

As a serious tech diver I would never consider using these. Let me put it in the most judgmental way that I can: force fins seem to have a small but fanatical group of users that mostly consists of holiday diving, flutter kicking, cold water hating boomers.

YIKES. I STAND CORRECTED - WHEN I BOUGHT MY SWIM FINS FROM FORCE FINS - THE ONE'S IN YOUR HANDS WERE ONLY SOLD AS SWIM FINS. I GUESS IF YOU REALLY WANT TO MAKE A PROPER ASSESSMENT YOU WOULD NEED TO BUY THE FORCE FINS THAT LOOK LIKE DIVE FINS (THE EXTRA FORCE FINS) THAT ARE LONGER LIKE YOUR ORIGINAL ONES. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THEY BEGAN MARKETING THEIR SWIM FINS - IDENTICAL IN FACT MADE FROM THE SAME MOLD - BUT A BIT STIFFER -- THEY SELL A BIT OF A DIFFERENT VERSION NOW THAN THE ONES THAT I BOUGHT FOR DIVING. THEY CHANGED THE DIVE FINS A BIT AS THEY USED TO HAVE SLIGHT WINGS ON TOP THAT WERE ADJUSTABLE. THOUGH THEY NO LONGER SELL THAT EXACT MODEL, IT LOOKS ALMOST IDENTICAL TO THE EXTRA FORCE FIN. SO SELL THE ONES YOU HAVE AND DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GET THE EXTRA FORCE FIN. IT'S PRICEY BUT NICEY! COSTS A FORTUNE BUT YEP YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. RATHER THAN USING THE OLDER ORGINALS YOU HAVE - THESE FINS WERE DESIGNED BASED ON THE ANIMALS THAT SWIM IN THE OCEAN. YOU CAN'T FIND A BETTER FIN.

You make very valid points. So much so that I brought both my classic jet fins and my 20 year old force fins on the 2-week Palau trip I just got back from, figuring I would trade-off between them. Particularly, the jets are fantastic for strong currents and long surface swims. I love the comfort and maneuverability of the force fins both on decks and in wrecks. I ended up using the Jet Fins for day 1, and the Force Fins for the rest of the 9 dive day trip. For me, unless conditions require a stiffer fin, I can't beat how handy and comfy the Force Fins are. Really enjoy your reviews. Thanks!

I have used my force fins pro for a year now, got the cheap second hand. Diving coldwater with twinset and sidemount. They are really horrible if your trim is bad, and quite nice if you have really good trim. I wasnt able to achive good enough trim with backmount. They feel way better than jet fins swimming vertically face down with a drysuit. They are better for surface swimming. I find them more nimble. Back kicks is easier. Frog kicks and flutter kicks there isnt much difference. If your trim isnt good enough they feel slugish, slow and hard to controll.

    • @john_church
      @john_church  2 ปีที่แล้ว

These look like they'd be great for stability when standing on coral, also not trap water which slows your kicks into stuff when busting up old wrecks. Even better than split fins!

Oh, heck. I still agree with you 100%. I am SO glad I took my other fins on the dive trip I tried to introduce these on, because I would have had to buy some other fins to replace them just to function or even use rentals. Walking in fins -- NOT A PRIORITY for recreational divers. You are trying to be so fair. They are great service-wise except the owner who b*tch slapped me for a minor commentary that they don't work for me personally! Byrd and Earle love them. I respect anybody who loves them. I have been diving Tusa Solla for about 14 years and love them so much, I went on a hunt to find my white+green ones as backups plus the spring straps because they've discontinued the color. White fins = your dive group can see you a mile away. Anyway, I love your reviews and more than fair on the Force Fins. If they are a fit for a diver, then AWESOME! If they are not, they simply are NOT. Just like any other piece of equipment, it's personal to your build, your preferences, etc. Also love that you are not endorsed or discounted, so can be unbiased.

Most people want this fins because of JB used these. However JB sponsored by FF. You can even find advertisement video by JB. JB uses scubapro go fins nowadays because of new sponsor I guess :))
I think FF owner is a smart guy. Clever silent advert for product with JB, not found on scuba stores and make people curious about it, sell this shit with a real high price. Curiosity sells this product.
In history FF start as a research and I thingk it is good for science but today this product is fraud. Even cheaper amazon fins does the same job. They are light, small and weak (not cause cramp) and way cheaper, perform better. FF looks like a fraud to me :)) Most FF owners will not accept this because they pay so much so tend to love this shit :))
I think even its curve is in a wrong direction. opposite direction would cause less cramp (most cramps in scuba occurs while lovering leg in the front tendons - just check scubapro seawing design, mares x-stream, beuchat aquabionics are correct designs to see what thendons they are trying to relax, check apex rk3 wents which way they support ), and better propulsion.
