Got mine a few days ago. Cleaned it, like I do with any new gun. Took it to the range and put 150 rounds thru it. Different ammo, federal, Winchester, CCI. Flawless. Not one problem. Great gun. This one is a keeper.
It’s really is great especially considering the price.
I got my AR7 recently. It shoots great, I have five mags for it, and out of five hundred rounds, I've had two hangups. Mine doesn't like the Winchester hollow points very well. I've never had a misfire with mine, and, you might note, on mine anyway, the firing pin does not hit the barrel. I get a dry fire from every clip, and no markings on the barrel at all.
That’s good to know. Thanks for the info.
None of my .22's like Winchester hollow points. I don't like them either.
The original manufacturer was armalite, the manufacture of the original ar-15. AR stands for Armalite not assault rifle as many naïve individuals will state. The air force original caliber were more a powerful .22 version not rimfire, but a .22 hornet. This may have been a ar-5 version
I use CCI mini-mags and CCI Quiet. The Quiet's don't cycle all the time, but they are very hushed.
A few things about the Henry AR7. It is reliable and will run as long as you do not damage the feed ramps on the mags or you will have to get new mags. The mags are its weak point. Use original Henry mags. Aftermarket mags do not run because they do not have the wire keeper on the mag that makes the mags reliable like the Henry mags. Henry made the AR7 reliable with the mag design change which it was not before under Charter Arms. The butt cap will stretch and loosen over time so put a strip of duct tape around the butt edge to snug it up again. It is corrosion and water resistant and will float but its not waterproof. It is not an everyday shooting rifle. It is an emergency survival rifle. Yes it is okay to dry fire it as it was designed that way with no bolt hold open, provided the gun is fully and properly assembled (for example, dry firing it without an upper and bolt in place will break the receiver eventually, as the hammer smacks the thin aluminum wall of the receiver). It prefers high velocity ammo and the hotter the better. Thanks for sharing.
Armalite is the original manufacturer. They are known also as the AR7, made by eugene stoner. Same guy who made ar 10, ar 15 etc
i remember that little thing. Nice vid!
The sight is adjustable, and it can also be flipped to go from larger to smaller peep hole
Not this model
I popped a 4 x 50 Nikon scope on mine a year back. It was an extra fun plinking day taking it out to 200 yards.
One dry fire for every mag. You better order your son a new firing pin now 😂😂😂
You are lucky. My Henry AR7 is basically a semi-auto bolt action rifle. Haha! And I am running factory OEM Henry mags. And I have tried different brands, grains, std vel, high vel, hyper vel, 22 ammo. Thems is the breaks. I need to make time and send it to Henry for evaluation/repair.
I would. This one seems to run really well, especially considering that it’s basically had zero break in period.
I’ve owned a few of these in the past. Nice little rifle, but I never warmed up to the whole idea.
Too many 22LR rifles I liked more. Sold them and didn’t look back. Nice review 🤙🏻
Thank you for the compliment.
