My da used to have an identical fur lined full length leather coat. I used to climb up inside it to try and get warm when I was brought to Chapel every Sunday when I was a tot. He used to have to undo the top button so I could stick my head out the front.
A few years ago I received a phone call from a maintenance manager to come and have a look at some work needed on a house, when I arrived and knocked on the door Jeff appeared, I said hello Jeff even though I had never met or spoken to the man before, We carried out the works which took about 5 weeks to complete, The house had been previously owned by the great F1 driver Graham Hill, Damon dad, the present owner showed me around his recording studio and told me how he got Phil Lynott to play a part on his album The War of the Worlds, Yes you have got it, that man was Jeff Wayne American-British composer
It’s the change from beef dripping to vegetable oils that has changed the taste. In the late 80s probably. You can buy a deep fryer and a few packs of Frytex and make them yourself at home. Not very healthy but far tastier.
