Guys this is so awesome!! I am the owner of the property that the goose was banded. DNR comes out every summer and bands an average of 150-200. The black bands are something the DNR was trying so hunters couldn't "target" banded geese by seeing the silver reflection. This year all bands were silver.
Last year my good buddy shot a 12 year old goose on Texas Oklahoma border that was banded on my property. That was the first year the DNR banded at my place
Wish that I could give you a 1000 thumbs up for reporting where that band came from. Off season put up a thread with all the band returns would be good. Many birds moved through Winnipeg on the 12 Sept

What kind of gun is Carter shooting ? Is it a Impala Plus, I have one the Carbon fiber model and I ain’t had nothing but problems with it ! Awsome black band too !

Great content guys! I have had so much trouble with Benelli shotguns, nothing but hot garbage. I got a Remington Versa-Max about four years ago and haven't looked back. I also have a Patternmaster long range choke and get very few crippled birds.
Hey guys, this weekend I shot a band and it was banded in the exact same place and the exact same time. I was hunting in nd and the starting numbers were also 1278. The weird part is that mine was silver not black.
@@CC-oy8pl 1278’s are everywhere, we killed them all over Michigan last year. It’s just a prefix, no special meaning. They’ve done 1208’s since 2017 and even this year, they just had a lot of extras left over. We’ve also killed 1258’s too
I am right-handed. Just hate shooting to the right especially laying down. It does not help that I am getting older and don't have any flexibility anymore. I find myself just getting up on my knees and turning. It costs me a couple seconds, but I shoot better.

Last summer was our 1st year using black bands here in missouri. We put a black band on every other goose back and forth between regular and blacks

I think the real little short necked guys are Hutchison(Richardson) geese . Form of cackler that winter is south east colorado.

Most blacks have been put on adults/females. We shot a few blacks and a few silvers in the same hunt that have came from the same place same day
