- Here is the Special Cup on 200cc. This was by far the hardest cup for me solely due to Rainbow Road being ridiculous with the Standard Kart at this speed. Thought I wouldn't have made it, but luckily was able to save the win with an Ultra Mini Turbo and Mushroom.

You make it look so easy--save for Rainbow Road where you fell off the track a ton and you STILL pulled off a win. Hats off to you, mate.

That reminded me of the Rainbow Road in MK: DD where I fell a lot on that racetrack but I still came in first place.

Rainbow road was such a bad time for me, first time I’d almost got 1st place on all tracks then got blue shelled before the last lap on rainbow road. Literally still tryna beat crown cup.

I go through Rainbow Road on 200cc with CPUs on hard difficulty four times through Vs. Mode, managing to get first each time with a better method for the course. As always, I still use Mario on the standard kart, wheels, and glider.

Jason Chan Have you played this game? There is definitely a huge jump in difficulty from 150cc to 200cc. I didn't fall down as much in Wii U because 150cc is basically easy mode in comparison to this. If you go too fast around a corner, you will fall down, plain and simple. Also, as you probably know, every race favorably relies on skill with some luck. Why does it matter whether I used a Bullet Bill to reach the upper ranks? Did you bother watching the linked video? In there, I show how to get first place four times in a row on 200cc Rainbow Road with CPUs on Hard.
As for how this is three star rank quality, in Mario Kart 8 (and Deluxe), to get that rank, you need to get first place in every race. That's it. Nothing else needed like in Super Circuit or DS.

I rewatched the video. I fell off the track a good amount of times there too, and had to rely on luck to boost me to first place. Really no different here other than me getting a Bullet Bill to reach the upper ranks (not even first), and both times, i had a Mushroom on the third lap that helped me get first place.
To this day we don’t know why the special cups in some MK games are not the last cups
It's now easy doing a Rainbow Road track in Mario Kart it often takes a certain amount of focus to not fall off while turning.
Last one was a tight race.

This is Mario gameplay.
This game has a really large margin of error if it allows you to fall off the track that much and still get a 3 Star ranking.
It has only gotten easier with the release of every Mario Kart. Super Circuit's was by far the hardest, mainly with its Extra Cups. DS and Wii allowed some leeway, but you always needed to be first in every lap. In 7 and 8, you only need 60 points (first in every race).

I can beat the shit out of the first 3 bit rainbow road I fall off pm the second and last turn.
How did you manage this with the full basic kart setup? I sometimes make only like 2 mistakes and get 3rd
Also: the rainbow road in special cup is the worst one in the entire game. It makes the SNES rainbow road easy
That’s because the rainbow road in special cup was a tough challenge since you’d be falling off a lot on 200
