Emma... I don't even know where to begin. I have a disorder called trichotillomania, which is a compulsive hair pulling disorder. I developed it as a response to trauma and it is super frustrating and hard to live with. I have lots of visible bald patches so going to a hair salon (or spa!) is a very stressful even for me. I have had to learn to cut my own hair because I had so many bad experiences. This video was extra special, because I got to feel pampered without all the rude questions and the compliments in the video are compliments I never get. The intro is so comforting and kind (the whole video is but especially the intro). I know I will return to this video many times when I start to feel upset about my hair, when I'm having a rough day, or feel ugly. Thank you for all that you do. Sending you lots of love and light

Sarah Smith I’m also a trichstr (thankful that it has improved quite a bit with age, I used to have huge bald spots on my head and my stepdad made fun of me for it).
PTSD now presents itself in different ways for me and I wouldn’t wish these feelings on my least favourite person.

I know that this is not a replacement for real therapy, but ASMR does help me relax in times of stress. These past 6 weeks have been difficult and in conjunction with real therapy I feel more at peace.

Hello my beautiful sweet Emma. Ahhh, just what I needed, a lovely relaxing haircut from you, hehe. Honestly, I do need a haircut, it keeps getting in my face and wraps around my neck when I'm trying to sleep, which doesn't feel to comfortable, lol. I wish there was a way I could get to NY. I'd love to meet you. One of these days though, haven't got a clue when but I'm going to make sure I meet you one day. I just want to be able to thank you personally, face to face, on all you do and how much you've helped me over the years and give you the biggest and tightest hug ever. Today's another hot day where I live so I don't have much energy at the moment. Hair brushing is my favorite too! Ever since I’ve started embracing my natural wavy/curly hair though, I no longer brush it. I just comb it when it’s wet. So these vids are the closest I get! 😂😂

The washing part is sooo calming! This might be a weird comparison but it reminds me of those videos that are like womb sounds, which are supposed to relax you by reminding you of what it was like to be in the womb. So I guess what I’m saying is it’s like... an inherently relaxing and kind of familiar sound?
Rhiannon May it reminds me of when my mom used to wash my hair when I was a small child. Her being so gentle and making sure no water got on my face. Imagining her smiling at me. Comforting.
