Your wife laughing a long is so cute lol! As the daughter she's also clueless about this which is of course scary but it's good that it's being accepted openly. This kind of vlog is very chill type of vlog, shooting with you in the view is very relatable.
So happy to see you, your mother-in-law and your wife enjoying one another. You are such a caring and delightful family! If possible, I would love to see the Binjai Park area where my Singaporean friend grew up. I’ve heard it’s an affluent area with big private homes.
the entire video is sooooo entertaining..and you are certainly a great sport...your wife's laughing in the background..your laughing face type of confrontation...and your mum in law's 'poke your nose'..made my day..! Thanks for the fun video ghib...really like
The MIL is so traditional and yet so open minded. She allowed you to tell her that she sneaked into your room… and still can act along with you. If I tell my MIL, she will reprimand me for being disrespectful and threaten to jump down from the window.
I really enjoy your daily vlog than content based video especially when your funny MIL is involved. I always laugh so hard when you both bickering. Look forward to more of such video. Take care.
Those are affinity coins (大缘小缘钱), as the stamped Chinese characters indicate. They are wedding accessories for the bed-setting (安床) process, to be placed at the various 4 corners (bed, wardrobe, etc.) in the matrimonial bedroom to bless the couple. Another version is with knotted copper coins (安床铜钱). The custom is supposed to be very formal & ceremonial, so I'm kinda surprised you weren't kept in the know.
You should be concerned if your maid or a stranger places something under your bed. You can rely on your mother-in-law since she is incredibly conventional, which is uncommon in today's society. Even yet, it's helpful to understand the significance of the enticing hidden symbols for "provision" and "happy union". You can ensure that everything that has blessing meaning, she will not hesitate to put them in the house, including hers. However, younger generations don't practice such culture anymore but I guess your MIL is in her 60s, not very old.
Vlog style is good! Kinda miss them. Anyways, about the issue of secretly placing charms around. I think the act of trying to hide it can be a little offensive, but if you just consider the intention, it was for good. Perhaps mum was afraid you and wifey wouldn't be too receptive of such ideas due to its superstitious nature, but still wanted to bless the marriage in her own way. Either way, of course its always good to give the blessing openly instead of sneakily, but as long as the intention was pure, no need to get too upset.
Hi Ghib, i really like the sound of ur wife laughing , its funny, too bad we cant see their face,, hehe,, MIL is so cute too,, ah i missed jewel, i went there twice a few years ago,, so beautiful,, thks for the entertaining vlog Ghib,, おもろかった、till d next vlog,, Huat Ah,; 👍😬✋
Aiyoh, Ghib-san, you're so excellent in Singlish now, so much better than me. I live abroad and hardly remember how to speak Singlish. Your MIL is super fluent in Singlish, so she is Singlish Queen. 🤣🤣
you can call it an amulet? It is similar to Omamori for luck and protection. Would love to try the hainan story. Is it related to the one at Boss Hotel?
Never knew of such practice 😄. But it’s done with good intentions. I’m ok with my mum coming into my room to place this at the corner of my bed. Don’t see the big Hoo ha. Not like she open my drawer and cupboard. When I travel, my mum & dad actually come to my house and help me clear letter box, sweep/mop the floor.
やっぱり、こういうリアルな日常が一番私に刺さりますし、MILとwifeyもの大好きです!I was so touched to know you ve been studied your viewers reaction and changed contents gradually. Thank you for the great entertainment as always(๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧
Your MIL has good intentions, however not everyone will appreciate this as need to be sensitive to different faiths / beliefs. That aside, your MIL is a natural in front of the camera, with her spontaneous and very natural + humorous quips.
Actually all chinese wedding we does this. 过大礼 we will buy coins to 安床. its like amulet. its tradition. its like blessing coins. nothing scary or involve god or ghost or whatever.hahahaha
it's a token of blessing that your mother-in-law acquired for you guys so that your marriage will be lasting and happy. It's a well intended gesture in the many Chinese traditions, and the practice vary depending on the dialect group. Maybe Japanese 神道 has similar practice, where some small items are acquired from the temples as a token of blessing? “百年好合” means hundred years of harmony.
The blessings are well intentioned. Still it's not her house, even as a MIL doesn't giver her the right to do so. Can always give it openly and let the owner decides whether he/she believes in such a thing. As an ethnic Chinese myself, I won't mind too much but at the end of the day, it's only right to do so openly instead of sneakily.
Take note of Culture differences. Like the colour "Red" is auspicious in the East, but it is taboo in South America. Simple analogy, how many ways can we eat a bowl of Rice ?
I would be very angry too. Is like some love spell / charm ! Is definitely not Chinese custom! Many of us do not have this Charm to blessed our marriage and still happily married.
If you see coins at business premises, people didn't lose their money, the person running the business deliberately place coins for good business wishes.
i think it is what they called as "an chuan" - to give protection to 4 corners of the bed (usually done during day of chinese traditional "guo da li" ? so your bed will not collapse? and u will not get nightmare lol
The interaction with your mother in law is very funny. I love the reaction 😅 hard on you that you have to tolerate the fact that she went into your room without permission 🥲
Ghib, your MIL is always so cute and interesting. But this time she is really superstitious. Those ' red packets ' may or may not be charmed but its really blessings " for you all " to make babies ! Chinese culture is to make many happy babies after marriage. She is being very sweet and polite not to say it directly ..... She wants grandchildren. 😄😃
Aiyo. Ah boy boy this is blessings ❤️❤️❤️ leh. I also have. When marry my mum and dad already prepared. And get me in a box for safety and healthy and wishes good marriage too. And must get in touch with mother in law family members well too. But your's mother in law why go inside you'll room to put that is not right. Must lets you and her daughter know. That is right. Not said is mother in law can any how doing. Procedures must doing right. You got to tell her.
Very like your mother- in-law & your wife in your videos and your routine lifestyle let us know more about you and viewers can getting closer relationship with you
Your MIL good intention la typical older generation of placing these well wishes good luck charm. Well she did say informed you but u didn’t pay attention. I not surprised because u get distract with food …lol especially home delivery at the door, u dash to it . Hahahaha I have admit that the charm is working since seeing the closed knitted relationships among your family hahaha
Lol. She wants u guys to be super happy. So sweet of her. I’m glad u took it well. My mum used to sneak over and decorate our kitchen for CNY with traditional Huat Kueh, Sng and lots of red ribbons and other stuff at our stove… but we told her we loved and appreciate her gesture but it’s ok to stop as we had to clear those things away plus as Christians, we don’t really believe in a kitchen god that needs bribing lol. It was sweet though. Just confusing coz she is a Catholic herself lol. Singapore is very rojak that way and multicultural. ❤️
Tradition and faith are different. Just like exchanging mandarin oranges during CNY is a sign of blessing but all chinese do it regardless of their religion as it’s a tradition and not a religious thing.
Your wife laughing a long is so cute lol! As the daughter she's also clueless about this which is of course scary but it's good that it's being accepted openly. This kind of vlog is very chill type of vlog, shooting with you in the view is very relatable.
Your wife’s giggles is so cute. 🥰she is enjoying every min of it. I do too!
So happy to see you, your mother-in-law and your wife enjoying one another. You are such a caring and delightful family! If possible, I would love to see the Binjai Park area where my Singaporean friend grew up. I’ve heard it’s an affluent area with big private homes.
Your MIL love you all so much! So blessed!
This is exactly what we want to see. Such a happy family 👍
Whenever your mum-in-law features on your blog, I’ll be laughing non-stop, just like your wife in this video! 😂🤣😆
the entire video is sooooo entertaining..and you are certainly a great sport...your wife's laughing in the background..your laughing face type of confrontation...and your mum in law's 'poke your nose'..made my day..! Thanks for the fun video ghib...really like
Your mother in law loves you Blessings for you and wife lovely to see families enjoying life together
Vlogging style is more casual and chill 👍🏻
I'm surprised many don't know this practice. It's known as 安床. It is placed at the 4 corners of the bed.
今回のような回もいいですね☺️ジブさんの日常を見てまたシンガポールにいきたくなりました❗️そして。密かに義母さまのファンです❣️
The MIL is so traditional and yet so open minded.

You don't have to worry at all. You have such good and caring mother-in-law. She is cute.

What is that place you had the food at?
Can I ask where did you get your bed frame from?
During my wedding, i had to throw some of these into my in law's house for Yuan too... i had some in the cupboards etc 😅
Interesting & funny vlog!
Ghib, your mother in law is extremely funny but so superstitious.

Auntie is so cute , frank and fun ! 😜🥰🥰 👍🏻
i didnt know about this custom also
Happy family. 🤗
私も同居しているのでこの境界線ない感じとても共感できました😂
Funny mom in law😂
Wonder how is the food there? Seems prices rather steep.
Start vid: Why u put this in our house?
End vid: Why nothing here? @13:52 🤣🤣🤣
The side without - who sleeps that side? Is that on purpose? 🧐🤔😂
Just wondering, when u changed bedsheet, you don’t see it in the past years 😂.
Take note of Culture differences.

something like the Japan's Shrine talisman
If you see coins at business premises, people didn't lose their money, the person running the business deliberately place coins for good business wishes.
Hi, Ghib my late Mother also prepared these for my Wedding🙏👍😁.
i think it is what they called as "an chuan" - to give protection to 4 corners of the bed (usually done during day of chinese traditional "guo da li" ? so your bed will not collapse? and u will not get nightmare lol
