Pardon the volume being a bit low. Turning it up should do the trick.
P.S. there's already a comment I can't see on this video, the same thing happened on the last one. I'm not (necessarily) ignoring any comments!
P.P.S. -- YT is clearly up to its usual shenanigans and auto-removing likes, so any additional likes to offset that a bit are appreciated.

This is absolutely mesmerising music Vingul.
The medieval harp version is amazing imo. Thanks man.

Agreed, and an important fragment of "early" Scandinavian music, obviously! This melody used to be the "pausesignal" on Danish state radio for decades, they had some sort of glockenspiel machine specially made to play this tune: th-cam.com/video/lpDQYdoIQ0w/w-d-xo.htmlsi=VYHYZFhDFqtCKdrL&t=21
Also, you've reminded me of another old Norse/Scandi melody I meant to make a video for... should do that soonish.

The harp especially feels like an ancient and primordial energy entering the space

Sounds like Scandanavian Music hasn't really changed THAT much tbh even after the coming of Christianity to the region, although ofc there isn't nearly a big enough sample size to prove that historically. If this is accurate though and overarchingly representative the traditional has been fairly well preserved though despite the lack of written document.

It's interesting you should say that, because I've been re-watching this video I'm gonna post that compares a Norwegian musical manuscript (a sort of hymn) from about 1280 with a certain type of folk tune that has survived up to our day. There's a fair bit to subtitle but I'll try to post it soonish, I think you'll find it interesting for sure.

Misleadingly good 😉. Am definitely _not_ torrenting this album flac as I type, no siree.

Of course not! That would be very wrong.

Indeed. I’ll also not be reading any very fine 30 page pdf booklets that might happen to show the players, instruments and all the lyrics, background information and biographies one could wish for, plus a nice picture of a Longboat Dragon prow in to the bargain.
Edit: while not reading the booklet i didn't... (ok I'll stop that now)... I've just looked into the the label, Delphian Records, and have spotted "Dragon Voices: the giant Celtic horns of ancient Europe - John Kenny" about the investigate further....

@@Confusion.and.Delay... Lols. I consulted that booklet when writing the description, but didn't investigate it to any highly autismic degree. I did think of looking further into Delphian Records later. That album title is quite intriguing; I will do the same.

@@Confusion.and.Delay... come to think of it, I recognise Kenny's name from looking into the carnyx a bit a good while ago! Hope I can track that album down now...

From the same label I’ve just found Spellweaving Ancient Music of the Scottish Highlands. Looks like a small but rich vein to be mined on this label.
