A Heart of Sunflower is my favorite Dreamcatcher ballad. There is something in the song that only a Korean would notice, and a Korean pointed it out to me so here it is. There's a word missing at the end of the last line in the song. As you're listening and expecting that last word the song just stops. That word is joa, the last word of the previous line, which translates as 'it's fine', 'it's ok' or 'good'. The person singing the song knows that their lover is not coming back, but they will wait anyway, forever if needs be. Their love is so strong that it isn't necessary to say it's ok. There's no other way it could be. There are people like this. I know some. I am one. Sometimes you can't just move on. 좋아
"It's like a summer love" Exactly. To me this album is like a short term romance, be it a summer love or a connection made while on holiday or something similar. In the beginning it's a new experience. It's fun and bright, like the song Airplane. Later the relationship gets more serious, a bit deeper, like Whistle. Alldaylong is where you get fully invested in the relationship. It's no longer a "fling". Things are getting serious, at least for one of the people involved. A Heart of Sunflower is where time starts running out and reality sets in, the romance has too end soon but they don't want it to. And then there's BEcause, where they say "Screw that" and you take steps to ensure that the person you've fallen for never leaves you.
Whistle is my favorite bside in the album, it’s just way too good. They also have a choreo for that song, they surprised us with it during their online concert ‘Midnight Circus’ and then they continued to say that was the last time they were going to perform that choreo live, we were all heartbroken… BUT THEN they surprised us AGAIN by performing it during their ‘World Tour in Seoul’ concert. Such a good choreo, you guys should watch it someday! And they also sang Heart of Sunflower live as well, I feel like you can feel the emotion even more when you watch it

My own interpretation of the last song is more like them as Dreamcatcher talking to Insomnias. Most fans naturally move on or get attracted to other/newer groups. So the song is like them saying at first they're upset that we are interested in other groups, but they also know that it's inevitable, and that they will remain waiting for us fans (as Dreamcatcher).

Listening to A Heart of Sunflower always brings a tear in my eye because of past experience that also happened in the summer. I love and feel the lyrics so much. HanDong had translated the first verse of the song into Chinese and sang it (and several other DC ballads) in one of the special videos. The translated version (for those who don't understand Chinese because unfortunately there is no English subtitle) tells a slightly different version of the story but the words were beautiful.
That ballad just hits differently. You can portray it in different meanings. I portrayed it recently connecting to my pain of being unable to let go of someone I truly love and care. This love is making me wait for her forever. But the fact that I know I must move on is just painful. Whenever I got to forget her for a while somehow my heart leaves a hole making me remember her once again. This is the impact of those beautiful memories that changed the course of a person's existence and the realization that one can exist in a cruel world.
Whistle is probably tied for my favorite B-Side and in my top 5 favorite DC songs overall... If you enjoyed it, there IS choreo for it. There is clips from one of their online concerts but i believe also fancams of when they performed it on tour as well. Definitely worth a watch on your own time or if you're put together a video of fancams/choreo clips for songs without proper special clips.

Such a fantastic album, one of my favourites by DC. Not only has it one of my fave title tracks with BEcause, it also has three of my favourite b-sides with Whistle, Alldaylong and A Heart Of Sunflower. Alldaylong made me realize that I really love City Pop! ♥
Whistle is my favorite Dreamcatcher song. I discovered DC last July and after a week or so of just listening to / watching videos related to their title tracks, I came across Whistle. After the first listen, I pretty much went, "DC is my ult group...Whistle is the best song...and it's time to listen to their B-sides." ^^;; Like others have mentioned already, I definitely recommend watching a performance of this song. I really like the choreography.
I looove this mini album! Even though it's a summer album, very bright, you still get that vibe only Deukae has 💗 Alldaylong, in particular, gives me a city pop feel, that I absolutely adore, and Whistle is a banger! They never fail to amaze me.
This was a grower of an album for me, sandwiched between two of my favorites. Whistle and BEcause were immediate hits, but the rest took some time to marinate and repeat listens helped it a lot. It was very atmospheric where listening to it at the right time and place helped unlock an extra feeling or emotion that helped me enjoy the songs. I agree with others that Heart of Sunflower is one of their best ballads; it just feels like such an emotional build to the end, not to mention the lyrics. Super super excited for the next album. It was their first win, and my first Dreamcatcher concert and so forever will hold a special place for me.

I love that you commented on it as being sort of a story or arc. I've always thought that Summer Holiday tells a perfect summer vacation story. The for the bright daylight and excitement of the initial travel and arrival, you have Airplane, Whistle is the night of excitement after they've gotten together, and Alldaylong is a perfect late summer afternoon sliding into sunset. I've never been able to decide if I like the order it's in, or if I'd prefer Whistle to be after Alldaylong so you get the sense of urgency that things are ending, right before you get heart of sunflower, which is the bittersweet longing after they've returned to everyday life and are dreaming about the brightness of their summer romance again. I love your interpretation of Heart of Sunflower, I love the idea of them holding on to the love even though they know better because they're worried about losing their memories. Excellent interpretation, deliciously angsty. I didn't really like Heart of Sunflower when the album first dropped, but re-listening to it now I have to wonder what was wrong with past me.

on the first day of my week holiday holiday, a great video to start off my relaxing week! whistle was my number one dreamcatcher song for the year this came out, but i do also have a soft spot for BEcause and airplaine. i always forget how much i like alldaylong and heart of sunflower until i hear them again
To me, this album is the full story of a relationship. It started in BEcause where the relationship was really toxic and obsessive. So they planned a summer holiday and this obsessive one was loving it in Airplane. Whistle is some kind of obsessive. Like how Airplane is about the day and Whistle is about the night. They were having a blast Alldaylong. But the other party had other plans, which is to dump the obsessive one. So Heart of Sunflower is when the obsessive one was dumped, and telling the other to remember the good memories they had and waiting for them to come back together. It all links together very well.
