I just bought a self cutting 360 mirror so I can get better at cutting the back of my head. Thank you for this detailed video. I no longer want to pay my barber, like $50 every few weeks. Keep up the good work with the content.
Hands down, the best tutorial I’ve seen. From the explanation of the blade spacing, to open/closing of the lever, working with and against the grain, to gradients, to the clean up...
You really convinced me to start cutting my own hair man. Love how detailed and thorough you were. some barbers out here charging 30 to 40 a cut, plus tip. Crazy
Yea I cut my own hair they charge 30 dollars for a fade plus a tip. I bought some clippers in the pandemic and started fading my hair and now I am getting better I ain't going back to no barbershop paying 30 dollars every 2 weeks. Thanks to him en courge me I doing it myself
Great video! Here's my routine, including some tricks you may find useful: 1. I put *colored tape* around my head to mark a first guideline just above my eyebrows. Then I shave up to the tape with open clippers (without guard). 2. I place a second colored tape below the first band, completely parallel and just above my ears. Everything below that tape I make completely bald using my electric razor. 3. I use anywhere between half open and closed trimmer without guard to fade out the low guideline. For the precision work I use a Remington detail trimmer (works on AA battery). 4. I use anywhere between open and closed (with or without guard, depending on the area) to fade out the high guideline. Here I will also use the Remington for the precision work. 5. I use the Remington detail trimmer to create the line-up on my forehead. The tape lets you create precise guidelines that you can then easily follow and fade out. Regardless it will take quite some practice to get it right, but approach it systematically and it will continue to improve. Hope this helps!
Wow! I was impressed how nice it came out. You made it look so easy. I'm a white guy and I've been cutting my hair since I started college. That’s a lot of work but looks like you got it down fade looks clean and looks better than a lot of barbers I’ve been to plus haircuts are getting crazy expensive I have to get a cut a minimum of 2 times a month. If it took you less than an hour to do this yourself a trained barber that does this for a living and has the advantage of not having to hold a mirror in one hand they have no excuses not to be able to do this quality of work in 15-20 minutes. Yes I’m a little bitter 😂 because I’m tired of these crazy prices plus appointment cost added tip’s which can turn a $25 haircut (already expensive) into a $40-$50 haircut.

I've cut my hair for at least a decade and still can't fade. I constantly get lost with the layers. Looking at my own hair, i can't tell if a 1.5, 1 is needed, especially a 1.5 open, mid, closed, a 1 open, mid, closed etc. You got insane skills, because a self cut fade is one of the hardest cuts you can do.
It most definitely comes with lots of practice. If I didn’t cut others before trying on myself, I doubt I would’ve tried it again. I’d say find tutorials on your type of hair textures to give you more tips on what guards to use
I agree with all the other comments. You explained Very WELL! I'm a 50 year old female and I'm going to teach myself after all these years of male babers not giving me the cut I asked for but wht they think I should have.
Good job man ive been cutting my own hair for 12 years and just now started to bald fade... u cut ur hair really well... i would recommend you buy the premium guards for Wahl they never slip off 🙏🏿
Mack thank you so much for this tutorial bro! I recently started cutting my own hair and want to go from 360 waves to just having waves on the top of my head. I’ve watched your tutorial many times and bought some clippers so I’m finally ready to do a bald fade self cut! Salute to you and your lady man keep dropping tutorials for all of us breaking into the world of cutting our own hair! 💯
That wahl clipper is what I learned how to cut with, and I ended up buying me an Andis Improved master and wahl senior like 11 years ago, but I used to hook people up with those Wal-Mart Wahl clippers, and you're right that 1 1/2 clipper comb is always loose I've had a few of them and they have always been sloppy loose, nice cut by the way I been saving money cutting my own hair and my son's for some years now.
Crazy that after 11 years, Wahl still hasn’t improved that guard lol. If you can cut with these, a professional clipper makes life easy. Thanks for the feedback!

@@russianspysleazeball1126 yes of course at first it was bad but as time goes on am used to it now, the main thing is to focus when doing it and then the rest you will see after ready..

Very good Tutorial Malcolm X. Much respect to that sister for the detailed camera operation as well✊🏾
Ahahaha! Thanks my brotha. And yessir, she did her thang
Great Tutorial! Excellent Guidance and Explanations of what guards to use when, why, and how! GOAT self haircut even when done with Basic Clippers!
You are the Man! Much Respect! One Love! GOD is GREAT! Thanks for this video! 💯
Thanks for the feedback James! So glad you found it helpful
Been cutting my hair for a year now. So glad u made this video you’ve broke everything down and explained why. Great tutorial thanks man
Thanks Jermaine! Glad you found it helpful
Bro thank you for this video. I have been looking for tutorials since the pandemic started and this is the only one that even remotely clear and easy to follow.
I love ittt! Thanks for the support Mical. You’ll be a hook in yourself up in no time
Man this was one of the best bald fade tutorials out there. Just received my supplies and I have no experience but after watching this video I feel confident. Thank you for this!
Appreciate that Anthony! Let me know how it goes once you go for it
I followed your instructions step by step & just cut my son’s hair because his barber is sick..Thank you for such a detailed video.
You’re welcome TK!
Bro I followed this to the letter and I have to say that I'm very happy with the results...thanks for the tutorial, it was very well explained, this was my first time EVER cutting my own hair and I happen to have the exact same Wahl clippers and Andis Outliner so it made your tutorial very easy to follow.
Glad it came out good Albert!
Best tutorial I've seen. Its getting very expensive and I don't blame barbers for charging more with inflation going on but I can't afford it.
I hear you JJ. I’m right with you on that. Appreciate the watch!
I agree with all the other comments. You explained Very WELL! I'm a 50 year old female and I'm going to teach myself after all these years of male babers not giving me the cut I asked for but wht they think I should have.
Much appreciated!
Bro transformed into Malcolm X 2.0 at the end. I need my glasses to look like that ☺️
Good job man ive been cutting my own hair for 12 years and just now started to bald fade... u cut ur hair really well... i would recommend you buy the premium guards for Wahl they never slip off 🙏🏿
Thanks Mark! And appreciate the suggestion. I will definitely look into the premium guards
Much love Marc! Appreciate the feedback. We’re gonna be back with more vids like these soon enough
One of the best tutorial's i've seen on TH-cam. Cut my hair over the weekend watching this. Thanks big dog!!
Let’s goooo! Much appreciated boss. You’ll only get better too
When sis said show the open/ close one more time I wanted to give a hug. Brilliant homegirl
Lol! She knew what the people needed
Yeah I felt that
Shoutout to wifey for holding the camera and sticking in that long. My wife woulda been done after 10 minutes 😂😂 nice cut and tutorial brotha
Bro, this is edited. She definitely took like 4 breaks 😂
Excellent video.. Being cutting my own hair for 2 months now but I still picked up some great tips from you.. Respect from Ireland..
Thanks John!
Natural teacher. Glad I found your channel.
One love from east Africa
