  • After several months of development today we will be finalising the carpet aquarium by getting some beautiful and unique fish. Even though this project was supposed to be an experiment to see whether I will be able to grow Monte Carlo carpet without CO2, it turned out to be one of the best looking aquariums I have ever made.

    Really nice video and your aquarium turned out really good. It’s great you managed to confirm they croak underwater. I’ve had my suspicions for a while but haven’t managed to confirm it.

      @Sarahlcasper thank you so much for everything! :) And yeah, but they seem to only do it when they're stressed :)

    LOVING them! And the tank too. I would prefer more densely planted aquarium for this species, but that is just my personal thing as I like wild messy jungles. :-D I believe these fish will live happy lifes in that tank.

      @Eva Karbanová yea I kinda love that look too :) And when I will take this aquarium down I for sure will be rehoming it onto aquarium with some stem plants :) Thank you for your comment! :)

    Pat, why are you wearing sunglasses inside? Rough night? 😉

      @Gloria Haha no :D I love wearing sunglasses and summer in general, so whenever I have the chance I wear them :D we do not have that much sunshine over here usually, so even when I am on the balcony, I will put them on :D I am enjoying sunny days soo much! :)

    What do you feed your Sundadanio Axelrodi? Do they eat fish flakes? Are they hard to keep?

    I cannot find this fish anywhere online nor have I ever heard of it before your video. How rare is this fish in your area? Is it not available here in the United?? States

      Well, I also only got it once but as far as I know it is quite accessible here in Europe. It is very popular in aquascaping so you may try search around Aquascapers in your area 😊

    Did he just... was that... zero drip acclimation or floating? Just dump them into a dry net like that from one tank to another - knowing it had different parameters?! Seems needlessly traumatic, no? I get that they croak when stressed but not sure stressing them out that much is advisable.

    • @undersurfacechannel
      @undersurfacechannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I understand your concerns but don’t worry. If you look closer you can see it is special breathing bag with that type of bags you can’t do floating because you would stop the exchange of oxygen… also note that tanks have no heaters meaning the room temperature is the same as water in tanks and the bag was sitting on the top of the tank for an hour to make sure the temperature is identical. Yes, technically drip aclimatisation would be even more safe, but with hardy fish like these absolutely unnecessary… also you need to dip them into net to get rid of old water they were transported in as I did not want that one in my tanks and with drip acclimatisation I would have to dump them into the net anyway before putting into the tank to get rid of the water. 😊 So hope this explanation helps…

      @@undersurfacechannel Thats cool. The explanation does make sense, and they clearly survived fine but the ph change would be stressful even for hardy fish... it was unexpected. I had to do a double take and check if I had missed something or if you mentioned why you didnt/how you introduced them to a new environment. Thought maybe that was just done off camera. I wouldnt want to dump random bag water into my tank either but thats not part of drip acclimation. Top of my tank hood had lights so would be way to hot to leave a bag on too. It might not be absolutely necessary to drip but I thought it was still some degree of risk and just didnt seem... well, nice? Better oxygenated bags sound like an improvement though- are they purchasable?

      @@beatricenone1218 All fair points and yes a lot was done off camera 😊 of course, just google “Cordon” fish breathing bags or “Easy life” fish breathing bags I believe they’re called (the one you can see on video) they are also fairly cheap 😊 but ofc much more expensive than regular bags 😊 depending what you want and how long you are transporting fish 😊 I am using those for my fish that I take with me for shows…
